Banjo x Shy Reader: Bachelorette Roulette

Hey guys, this was requested by
LilTilOne3231 . Banjo is half of the Banjo/Kazooie tandem, and he is a bear. So... yeah... I wasn't thrilled with this concept at first, but my editor had a fantastic idea for this and, well... Things got interesting real fast.
Enjoy~

It all started when you went to a girls-only slumber party the night before your birthday. There were only a few girls there, including Zelda, Peach, Palutena, Female Robin, and Lucina.
You were doing all the normal slumber party activities: pillow fights, movies, truth or dare, and, of course, the subject of crushes naturally came up.

After the girls teased Zelda about Link, they all turned to you expectantly.
"So birthday girl... Who do you like?" Palutena asked, a smirk on her face.

"N-no one." you blushed, not used to being the center of attention. Sure it was nice, but you were a shy girl.
Though you usually felt comfortable around your friends, being drilled about your crush was embarrassing.
"C'mon, you have to like someone." Zelda pressed.

"W-well..."
You sighed, crossing your arms over your chest.
"I suppose I like someone."
"Who?" Peach asked, taking a bite of popcorn. "Does he make you feel like Mario makes me feel?"

"Banjo." you blushed, dropping your eyes to your lap. "You're in love with an instrument?" Lucina puzzled.
"She's talking about Banjo Kazooie." Zelda explained, attempting to help the puzzled bluenette.
"No, Banjo. The bear. Kazooie is the bird." you clarified.
"Oh." Zelda laughed. "Right."
Robin had been silent this whole time, listening to everyone talk about their crushes.
"Hmmm." she mused thoughtfully. This was her favorite part of every slumber party.
You see, Robin loved her OTPs, and she loved shipping people even more. She and Male Robin made it their personal mission to pair people up.

"So you like Banjo, huh?" Robin smirked.
A wonderful idea was coming to her. A birthday surprise you'd remember forever.
"Cool." she said, playing it off and examining her nails.
She couldn't have you getting suspicious.

That night when you fell asleep, Robin  explained her plan to the rest of the group, and then made a few phone calls.
She knew you were not expecting anything like this for your birthday.
It would be a one-of-a-kind gift.

The next morning when you woke up, the girls sang you happy birthday and brought you special birthday sprinkle cinnamon rolls, which you gratefully devoured.
The girls kept on glancing at you and giggling at breakfast, before quickly looking away.
Whenever you asked them what was so funny, they would simply shake their heads and grin, telling you it was nothing.
After breakfast they all gave you there presents, everyone except Robin.
I have a special present for you (Y/n)." Robin grinned, blindfolding you and holding your arm.
She pulled you out of the room, guiding you down the halls. "Where are we going?" you questioned, allowing yourself to be dragged there.
"You'll see." Robin laughed.
The rest of the girls followed behind you giggling. At some point you heard a man's voice join the small crowd as well. "Hello Robin. You need my assistance?"
"Robin! So good of you to show up!"
"Of course Robin! There's no way I could pass up an opportunity like this. Oh! Hi Lucina! I didn't see you there!"

That was the ridiculous dialogue that you heard while the girls led you to who knows where. Apparently Male Robin had showed up to help with whatever Female Robin had planned. Big things happened when the Robins worked together. You didn't want something big. With your luck, they probably threw a huge party and invited everyone in the mansion. How embarrassing would that be?

You came into a big hall, and were guided over to a seat, where you sat down.
"Okay-" F!Robin laughed, pulling off your blindfold and turning on the lights.
You squinted, letting your eyes adjust to the bright light.
You looked to the wall directly in front of you and gasped.
"What's going on?" You asked wide-eyed.

There, standing before you, were a group of famous bears, all wearing freshly pressed suits and ties.
There was a Brown Bear: Yogi, a Black Bear: Smoky, a Grizzly Bear: Baby Bear, (From Goldilocks and the three bears, he's all grown up now), a Panda: Po, (from Kung-Fu Panda), a Teddy Bear: Winnie the Pooh, and... Banjo.
Your heart stopped and your face flushed. You looked at them all, before looking back at you friends. "What's going on?" you inquired.

"Happy birthday (Y/n)!" the Robins beamed.
"We set up a a bear bachelorette for you."

"Wow." you gasped, still in shock.
"That's-uhhh...cool." you offered.
This was all nice, but you only had eyes for one bear. (Yes, I just wrote that. Feel free to take a moment to calm down from the fit of hysteria I just induced, then read on.)

"Let's get this show on the road."
F!Robin smiled, pulling out a camera and pointing it at M!Robin, who cleared his throat. "LADY AND GENTLEBEARS, WELCOME TO THE BACHELORETTE ROULETTE!" he said, as if he were the host of a game show.
"Okay boys, how about you introduce yourselves."

They all stepped forward, forming a single-file line.
"Hello, I'm Yogi." Yogi grinned at you, shaking your hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you Miss pretty-lady. And yes I'm using the fancy-tense to show you the utmost respect." he took a step back, allowing Smoky to step up.
"Hello (Y/n). Did you know that you can help prevent forest fires?"
"Umm...cool." you laughed nervously, shaking his paw.
Next up was Baby Bear.
"My name is Baby Bear, but you can call me Bear baby." he winked at you, taking your hand and kissing it.
"Oooookay." you blushed, quickly pulling your hand back. Apparently Baby Bear grew up to be remarkably suave.
Po steeped forward, karate chopping the air before shaking your hand.
"I'm Po, the Dragon Warrior. I'm also super awesome, but that's not important." he introduced himself.
"Nice to meet you." you smiled shyly.
"Why hello. I'm Winnie, but you can call me Pooh Bear. I would let you shake my hand, but I'm afraid it seems to be a bit... stuck at the moment. Oh bother..." the yellow bear muttered, trying to squeeze his arm out of the honey pot he had gotten it stuck in. "Aha! There we go!" he announced happily, as his arm popped out of the jar. He offered you his honey-coated paw.
"No thanks." you laughed awkwardly.
"Ooh. It's a tad bit sticky I see." the yellow bear mused, looking at his hand and laughing.
"That's okay."
He took a step back, allowing Banjo to step forward and shake your hand.
"I'm Banjo, and this is my pal Kazooie." he smiled at you, pointing to the bird in his backpack.
"Happy birthday (Y/n)."

You blushed. He knows my name...
"T-thank you." you stuttered, suddenly finding your shoes very interesting.

"Okay everyone!" M!Robin clapped, trying to maintain order.
"The challenge for today is... COOKING! We're gonna see who can make the best meal for (Y/n)." he smiled warmly, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and winking at the camera.

"You can use any ingredients you find in the kitchen, and you have two hours until presentation... Starting.... NOW!" Robin announced.

All the Bears rushed off to the kitchen, and the Robins followed them with the camera.
"C'mon (Y/n)!" Zelda laughed, pulling you along into the kitchen and sitting you down at a nicely-set table.
"You just wait here." she told you, before smiling and rushing off.
"Ooookay." You nodded.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, the Robins had given the bears each their own cooking station, and were watching as they attempted to... cook?
"So Po, what's the plan for your meal?" F!Robin grinned, walking over to the panda and pointing the camera in his face.
"Yes, I'm going to interrupt your precious cooking time to interview you for the audience."

"Oh. I'm making my dad's famous 'secret ingredient soup'." Po smiled, chopping up some chives.
"I finally know the secret ingredient." he said.
"That's great." M!Robin beamed, while F!Robin adjusted the camera, zooming in on the chives.
"Well, I have to go inconvenience the rest of the cast, so good luck!" M!Robin called, grinning at the camera and walking over towards Winne the Pooh's station.

"How are things going over here?"
M!Robin asked the teddy bear, who was stirring something in a pot.
"Oh! Well I suppose they are alright." Pooh hummed, shaking his paw to try to get the spoon off his hand. (The honey on his paw had basically glued the spoon to his arm.)
It flew off and sailed across the room, hitting Baby Bear in the head and sticking to his fur.

"I'm ever so sorry!" Pooh called to him, jumping off the stool he was standing on and running to the utensil drawer to get a new spoon.
"HEY! Watch whatcha doin!" Baby Bear yelled at Pooh, pulling the sticky spoon off his head and throwing it at Smoky.

"Well!" M!Robin exclaimed, running over to Smoky's station. F!Robin followed him and adjusted the camera.
"What would you do if you won (Y/n)'s heart?"

"Well, the first thing I'd do is make T-shirts that would have our faces on them. They'll say: (Y/n) and Smoky say: 'you can help prevent forest fires!' Then I'd start calling her Mrs. Smoky Bear. Think of the marketing opportunities!" Smoky laughed.

"Well okay then." M!Robin stated.
"Umm... what are you planning on making?"

"Smoked salmon."
Smoky replied.

"It figures." F!Robin shrugged.
(Yes, she is helping interview the Bears as well.)

"Hello Baby Bear." M!Robin grinned, walking the over towards the next participant.
"How are things going?"

"I'm a little busy right now..." Baby huffed, pulling a bowl out of the microwave.
"You made oatmeal?" F!Robin raised an eyebrow at Baby quizzically.
"No." Baby Bear laughed. "That would be stupid. I made porridge. And it's just right." He grinned, winking at the camera.

"Okay then! We have one more bear left to interview." M!Robin stated.
F!Robin pointed the camera at Banjo.
"Hey Banjo, why do you want to win today?" M!Robin asked him.

"Oh! Well I've had a crush on her for quite some time now..." Banjo blushed.
"But every time I walked over to say 'hi', she would run away." he laughed, scratching the back of his neck.
"So, maybe if I win... she might go out with me." he said hopefully.

"You heard it here first folks! Banjo's got the hots for (Y/n)!" M!Robin laughed.

"Okay everyone! I'm going to go check on (Y/n), so keep cooking!"
M!Robin called over his shoulder, walking out of the kitchen to the small room you were sitting in.

"Hello (Y/n). How do you feel about all this?" M!Robin asked, playfully nudging your arm.
"U-umm. Am I on TV?" you stuttered, covering your face with your hands to hide your blush.
"Not yet." F!Robin laughed.
"But if this is goes really well, I'm going to send it in to see if a station will air it. And I'm definitely going to post it on YouTube."
You peeked shyly through your fingers, giggling nervously and fixing your hair. This was a nightmare.

"Okay, I'm going back to the kitchen. The suitors will be in shortly." M!Robin smiled, strutting out of the room.

~Time skip, courtesy of a commercial break~

"You have one minute left!" F!Robin called, spinning so the camera got a wide pan to capture all of the bears, who were frantically putting the finishing touches on their meals.

"Oh bother!" Pooh mumbled, frantically running around in circles with a honey pot stuck to his head.
"I'll help you- don't worry buddy!" Po called to him, rushing over and helping to pull the pot off his head.
"Thank you kindly friend." Pooh smiled, running the pot back over to his station.

"Five! Four! Three! Two! ONE! TIME'S UP!" M!Robin yelled, ringing a bell.
"I'll call you all in one at a time to present your meals. After she tries them all, she'll choose her favorite... and whichever bear made her favorite wins the game." M!Robin grinned.
"Yogi! You're up first!"

"Yes sir." Yogi saluted.
"I hope you're ready! Let's go."
M!Robin stated, marching Yogi into the  next room.

"So, tell (Y/n) what you prepared for her today." F!Robin instructed, angling the camera to capture his "dish".
"It's a pic-a-nic basket, filled with yummy foods." Yogi explained.

You nodded, opening the basket. To your surprise, half the contents of the basket were gone.
"It's half empty." you frowned.
"I'd say it's half full." Yogi offered.
"Where'd the rest of it go?" you asked skeptically.
"I have no idea." Yogi shook his head, fixing his tie.

"Mmmhmm." you laughed. "Thank you Yogi."

"You're welcome miss pretty-lady." Yogi bowed, marching out of the room.

"Next!" F!Robin called.
Po strutted in, carrying a bowl of soup.
"Wow. This is really good." you gasped, spooning it into your mouth.
"Thank you. It's my dad's secret ingredient soup." Po beamed proudly.

"Thank you Po." F!Robin smiled.
"Smoky! It's your turn!"

Smoky Bear walked in, carrying a plate with smoked salmon on it.
"That looks... Interesting..." you finished, plastering a fake smile on your face.

"I hope you like it." Smoky nodded, turning and marching out of the room.
"He's not even going to wait and see my reaction?" you mused, taking a small bite of the fish.
You shuddered, setting the fork down.
Smoky was not a good cook.

"Hello."
A small voice shook you from your thoughts, and you glanced down.
Pooh Bear had just walked in, and set down a jar of honey.

"Ummm..." You glanced around the room hesitantly.
Does he expect me to eat this?
As if reading your mind, Pooh smiled and handed you a spoon.

"There's nothing better then some honey, when you have a rumbly in your tumbly." he laughed, patting his stomach.

"Uhhh, thanks Pooh." you smiled at the small bear appreciatively.
"No problem." he smiled, waddling out of the room.

"Oh my..." you shook your head.
This was all too much.

"Hello gorgeous." Baby Bear smirked at you, strutting into the room.
He set a bowl of porridge in front of you and smiled. "You'll love my porridge baby. I got it just right: not too hot, not too cold. If you know what I mean." he winked.

You shuddered involuntarily, gulping and picking up the spoon to try a bite.
This bear made you very uncomfortable.

"It's good." you gave him a thumbs up and faked a smile.
"I knew it would be." Baby Bear laughed, putting his hands on his hips and strutting out of the room sassily.
You sighed, wiping your forehead.
"Are we almost done?" you asked.

"Yep! We have just one more contestant left." F!Robin smiled knowingly.
Next thing you know, Banjo walked into the room carrying a platter of (f/f).
You could feel your cheeks heating up as you tried to calm the butterflies that were fluttering around in your stomach.

"H-hello." you gave Banjo a shy smile.
"Hey." he grinned in return "This is for you."
He set the plate down in front of you, and took a step back.
You took a bite of his dish, chewing thoughtfully before swallowing.

"Wow." you gasped.
"That was delicious!" your lips turned upward into a wide smile.

"I'm so glad you like it." Banjo grinned, stepping out of the room.
You sighed dreamily.
He's so perfect...

"Okay (Y/n). It's time to pick a winner!" F!Robin laughed, grabbing your arm and pulling you out to face the bears.

They stood in a single-file line facing you. They nervously glanced around the room, each hoping that he was the lucky bear you would choose.
"Well?" M!Robin smiled.
"Who do you choose?"

You blushed, looking at all the bears, before whispering into M!Robin's ear.
"OHHHH. Mmmmhmmmm." M!Robin nodded, over-exaggerating all of his actions.
"I see..."

He turned to face the bears, crossing his arms over his chest.
"The bear... That (Y/n) chose... Is- drum roll please...... Winnie the Pooh!" M!Robin shouted.
"I'm just kidding. It's Banjo!"

"Oh bother." Pooh sighed, kicking at the ground and filing out of the room with the rest of the bears behind him.
"Y-you chose me?" Banjo smiled at you.

You nodded shyly, pushing a loose stead of your hair behind your ear.
"Soooo. You win I guess."

"Does that mean I get to take you on a date?" Banjo asked, barely able to contain his excitement.

"I-if you want." you stuttered, your face the color of a tomato.
"Awesome!" Banjo grinned.

"Happy birthday (Y/n)!" the Robins exclaimed, throwing confetti over your head.

"Soon we'll be throwing rice at your wedding." Zelda smirked.

"S-shut up!" you glared at her.

As Banjo took your hand in his paw, you felt like the luckiest girl in the whole world.
"Thank you." you smiled up at him.

"For what?" Banjo asked curiously, tilting his head at you.
"For making this the best birthday ever."
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
The Robins looked at you in utter disbelief. They were the ones who put this whole thing together. Why the heck did the stupid bear get the credit? "See if I ever help her again..." M!Robin muttered.

I know... This is not quite what you expected.
It's funny though, right?
Righhhhhhht?
Well, either way, my editor and I think it's hysterical.
So... Umm... Yeah. Too bad for you if you don't. (My editor actually wanted to have several rounds of the show, so if you didn't like it, consider yourself lucky.)
Next up, we have
the four Heroes x Reader in a love square. Y'know... Like a love triangle, but with four people... (Yeaaaah, I get the feeling that phrase won't catch on. Does "love diamond" sound better?)
