What if I had noticed you at the start of High-school
Instead of on our senior year
Would we have laughed more?
Would I have counted earlier that the rings you're wearing are usually four
Did you notice me before I wonder?
Wanted to chat but instead pushed the thoughts deep, deep under

What if we had talked more?
Would you be the one taking me to the dance last Friday?
Walking with me every day to school?
Or would we do what we do now?
Glimpses in the hallways and a few scattered "heys" and smiles,
Secretly hoping things might change somehow

Maybe this is all just me
Finding signs where there are none
Wishing you were the one
But I can't help but ask,
What if we had met only a few months ahead?
Maybe even a couple of days, I dread
Would you still have gotten your girlfriend then,
Or been with me instead?
