Chapter 2: A Creepy House
Two weeks had passed, and it was the day I had to go to the house. I had gotten a note a couple of days ago on my front doorstep. It had a time on it as well. I had to be there at 8:00pm sharp. I guess someone was very picky about time. Anyways, it was around 7:05, and I was jogging to the outskirts of town. It was kinda dumb of me to do so, since the hobos usually hang out around here, waiting for anyone to walk by to either ask for money or take it by force. Luckily, none were very interested in me.
I had taken the photo with me so I could identify the house. There were a bunch of housed that looked like that, all torn up and falling apart out here. I didn't need it though, because for some reason I was able to identify said house. It was an ugly yellow color, with a red roof and a white porch. The paint was peeling, and the wood was crumbling. It wasn't very pleasant to look at. To make matters worse, the awful stench of death reached my nostrils even though I was about 4 yards away. I scrunched up my nose and slowly approached the porch.
When I stepped onto the porch, the first step cracked underneath my weight and sent me falling forward, face planting onto the third and forth step. I lifted up my face and sighed when I felt a bit of blood dripping onto my hand. I raised my hand to my nose and wiped it away while I used my other to help me get to my feet. I looked back to see that my foot was now covered in dust, and the wood now broken into tiny pieces. I groaned and made my way to the front door.
When I tried opening it, the door knob popped off. Naturally, I tried popping it back in, but to no avail. 'Well, that worked out well, didn't it?' I thought sarcastically, scoffing and tossing the knob aside. I stared blankly at the door for about 2 minutes before raising my foot and kicking it. I only made a small crack in the wood...great. I ran a hand through my messy blonde hair and stared at the door, hoping that an answer would appear out of the blue.
And that's exactly what happened.
A note fell in front of my feet, seemingly from nowhere. I picked it up and immediately recognized the handwriting.
WAIT.
'Wait? Wait for what?' I wondered. I stood there, confused and weirded out. Eventually I turned around and pressed my back against the door, sliding down onto the wooden porch. I decided to be obedient and listen to the anonymous person.
After about 10 minutes, the door behind me slid open, causing me to fall backwards into the dark entryway. I quickly stood up and turned around, looking into the slightly illuminated room.
Since it was rather hard to see in the dark, I squinted my eyes a little so I could see a bit better. I could barely make out a couch and two armchairs in the back. Both armchairs were turned over, lying on their side. The couch had no cushions, and was just a mere frame of a chair. There was no carpet, lamps, coffee table, or even a TV. It was almost completely empty.
I took a few steps in and noticed a large doorway leading i to another room. A few steps later, I realized it was the kitchen. I walked in and could barely make out a small rectangular shape on the counter. I got closer and picked it up, inspecting it closely.
My eyes lit up when I realized it was a box of matches. I opened it up and was even happier to find at least 5 matches left inside. I took one out and ran it down the side of the box quickly, managing to get a small flame.
Using my small torch, I walked around the kitchen and noticed how filthy it was. The floor was covered in dirt, and large insects crawled across the counter. I finally decided to leave once I noticed a VERY large tarantula sitting next to the sink.
I found my way around the house very quickly, trying to find...well, I wasn't quite sure. Something was here, I knew it. I just couldn't find it. I eventually wandered into a small room, the only thing being in it was some stairs leading downwards into what was probably a basement. I was about to skip over it when I heard something.
Footsteps.
If there was someone down there, then maybe it was the anonymous person! I quickly went down the concrete steps, careful not to slip and fall flat on my face. When I was finally in the basement, I immediately noticed how small it was. I felt kind of claustrophobic.
Along the walls were counters, each of them having large stacks of paper piled on top. On one of the counters was a candle, which I was more than happy to light up. Using the candle, I found my way around the small room, seeing if anyone was in here. I was about to give up when I noticed a large white door in the far back of the room. Hastily, I opened it and saw something very strange.
In the doorway was a large purple vortex like thing, with strange sounds coming from it. It sounded like...people were talking. I took a few steps closer to it, inspecting it.
Then, all of a sudden, I felt a pulling sensation coming from in front of me. I was then pulled forward, the vortex getting bigger and bigger. I screamed, but it was drowned out by the loud noises of the portal. Before I knew it, I was sucked in, and going through a long tunnel of nothing but blue and purple.
