Tally Marks

The sound of the bell on the door could barely be heard over the buzzing of my tattoo gun. Without even looking up, I knew who it was. A man comes in to this parlor every day at exactly 8 p.m. Every time he asks for an additional tally mark tattooed onto his arm. Every. Damn. Time. He has to have over 40 at this point.
I finish putting a random quote on some guy's collarbone and then headed up to the front desk. I brought the familiar guy back to add yet another tally mark. The only thing difference about this time is I finally asked him what they were for.
He looked over to me with a completely expressionless face and said "Each tally stands for each unicorn I've met." A small laugh escaped my throat as I continued. I was obviously still curious, though. Even if he did notice, he decided to ignore it.
Every time his tattoo is finished, my tattoo parlor closes. When I turn off the lights, my curiosity gets the best of me and I decide to follow him. My feet hit the ground fast and hard so I could get to my beat up Honda faster. My hands became slightly sweaty as the engine came to life. I always stayed a few cars behind his newer Jeep trying to keep it less obvious. The chase took me down a long country road. My mind was cluttered with thoughts of where he was going as The Killers played in the background.
The blinkers from his deep blue car took my focus back to the road. He turned left and went down and rocky path that I couldn't see the end to. A slight feeling in my stomach started to grow telling me that I should turn around and go home. I decided to push it aside and keep going. The rumbles of my car on the rocks make me jump around a little in my seat. The feeling in my stomach grew larger. I, again, ignored it. Before I could comprehend what was happening, the Jeep came to a screeching halt causing me to rear end him... hard. Everything went black as my head hit my steering wheel.

A bright light shining through my eyelids woke me up. All I could see was white cement walls covered in blood. In the far left corner there is a huge pile of bodies all missing some body part. I try to sit up only to realize that I have been tied up. I scream loudly for help. Seconds after my plead for rescue, a metal door swings open he walks in. " Nobody can hear your screams for miles. There's no use in trying." He mumbled. I let out a small whimper as he grabbed a huge meat cleaver from under the table I was on.
I finally realized what all of those tally marks were. Each person he has killed and I was going to be the next. That was my last thought... I felt a sharp pain on my neck for a split second. Then I felt nothing. Not my own heartbeat...
