Depression
I stare down at the water, the wind hitting my face, my hood and my hair flying back. The wind hurts my eyes, but I don't care. As long as I can end my life right here, right now.
I climb onto the bridge and start to move forward, ready to jump off. I close my eyes and tip forward, ready to fall. I start to feel myself being taken away by the air, but someone grabs my backpack, pulling me back on the sidewalk.
I quickly turn around to see my boyfriend, Damien, staring at me, breathing heavily, crying.
"What are you doing?" he asks me, anger vibrating in his voice.
I stare down at the ground, feeling shame sweep over me. "I don't want to live anymore," I whisper.
"Why not?"
"Because...because..." I close my eyes and breath in and out. Then I look up at Damien, a new confidence in my heart. "Because I'm tired of hiding our relationship!" I yell. "You don't want anyone to know that you're gay and that you're dating a loser like me, so you make me hide my feelings for you in public! I hate it! I can't do it anymore, Damien! If you love your popularity more than me, then you don't love me! And I want to date someone who loves me!"
Damien takes my hand in his and says gently, "I do love you." Then he looks into my eyes and says in seriousness, "Come on, lets go." He starts walking me over to the high school.
"Why are we going back to school?" I ask, nervousness setting in.
"You said you wanted me to show that I love you in front of other people." He looks over his shoulder to look at me. "Now is our time."
We walk inside the front doors of the high school. A teacher at the front desk glares at us, but we flip her off. Then Damien leads me to the cafeteria.
He leads us to the middle of the room, his hand still holding mine. He rubs my cheek with his thumb, a beautiful smile on his face. I love that smile.
"Hey, what are you doing with that emo fag?"
I turn around to see one of Damien's football friends, Jake. God, I hate him.
Damien pushes me behind him, glaring at Jake. "He isn't a fag. His name is Virgil."
"Why were you holding his hand?"
"Because he's my boyfriend."
Everyone in the cafeteria gasps and I feel all eyes on me. I gulp and start to shake, not used to all of this attention.
"He's your what?" Jake sneers.
"My boyfriend," Damien says, standing his ground.
Jake flips us off and walks away. The other football players shoot Damien looks of betrayal and walk away too.
Then Damien turns to me, cupping my face in his hands, and he kisses me. The heat flushes to my face and I smile, Damien pulling back. But it only lasts for a few seconds. Then he kisses me again, pulling me closer.
After we kiss, he screams out, "I love this boy!" Then he turns to me and says in a quieter voice, "And I always will."
We Kiss one more time until we head back to Damien's house, love filling our hearts and souls.
