《 Malfoy Manor 》

"Hold on to my robes, child, and don't let go no matter what," said Godfather as we stepped outside. I fisted his dark robes and he laid his left hand over my head. At that same moment, the world seemed to turn over in all directions.

It was all over in seconds. I opened my eyes to see I stood in the middle of a large carpeted foyer. My surroundings felt warm and welcoming, the air smelt of a strange mixture of mint, plum and roses that I instantly loved.

"Come, Alya. My wife, Narcissa, is up stairs preparing your room," Lucius took my hand again and gently guided me up the staircase. There was a straight view of the upper ballroom once we made it up the stairs, and we walked to the left. We stopped on the first door available, which was open, and a lady with dark and light hair was arranging some flowers in a night stand.

"Hello dear. Oh! I see you've brought Alya home," she smiled kindly at me and motioned for me to go near her. I slowly let go of Godfather's hand and shuffled my way towards her.

"There's nothing to be afraid of, dear. You're safe here with us." I believed her. The aura of the place, and of them, was different than the Perelmans. I could tell I could truly be happy here.

She gave me a sleeping gown I could change into from my oversized blue hoodie and shorts, and led me to my personal bathroom. She told me I could call her Godmother.

The gown was satin green and very beautiful. I let my hair off my hair tie and relax a little while Narcissa tells me everything.

The Malfoys and my parents had been friends for ages. They even went to Hogwarts together, and watched me grow up as a baby.

She said I was the same age as her own son, Draco, who was off at Hogwarts for now. She said he'll be back by the holidays.

Narcissa left me soon after, allowing me to sleep covered by the green duvet. Green curtains were placed over my bed, covering the light that came from the windows. I soon fell in a deep slumber.

I awoke to someone shaking me slightly. I opened an eye to see a house elf timidly shaking me awake. I slowly sat up, and it backed away, around three feet. "Good morning, Miss Alya. Mrs. Narcissa requests your presence for breakfast in 15 minutes," she said, then scurried out the door.

I sat in bed for a minute before looking around the huge room. There was the bed I sat on, with curtains at the front and back, a night stand aside it. A green and brown carpet was spread on the wooden floor, and a vanity on the left wall. Aside the bed, near the corner window, was a daybed with a low table and two arm chairs. The room was very spacious, and the door to the bathroom was just aside the vanity.

I stood and walked towards the clothes spread on the daybed for me. A white long sleeved collar shirt, a green over shirt, a black skirt, black stockings and green maryjanes.

Looking at myself in the mirror, my hands found their way onto my hair, combing it and making two small braids at the sides, uniting them at the back, with my waist length hair down my back.

Trying to remember what Lucius had told me yesterday, I retraced my steps down to the first floor. Left on the foyer, left to enter the west gallery, and finally the door on the right.

Godfather sat at the head of the long oak table, Godmother on his right. There were cutleries set for me on his left.

"Good morning," I softly spoke, standing by the door. "Good morning, Alya. Come, the food will be served soon." I nodded at Godfather's words and quickly took my seat with them.

We ate in a peaceful silence, until Godfather was brought the newspaper. "Today we'll set to Diagon Alley to fetch your wand, robe and books, Alya." "As well as getting you new clothes. Those old rags of mine won't hold up for long, sweetie," Narcissa smiled. I returned the gesture.

Afterwards, Narcissa lent me a cloak, apparating with Lucius to Diagon Alley. He held my hand as we walked through the streets, tripping slightly as someone accidentally pushed me.

Lucius moved me to walk in front of him, leading me by my shoulders. We entered a store named ,"Ollivander's". "Ah! Hello, Lucius! What a rare treat this is. Did Draco break his wand already?"

Godfather rolled his eyes. "No, Ollivander. I have come because my God child needs a wand." He pushed me forward towards the counter, where the weird man examined me.

He smiled and turned around, looking at the various boxes he had. I stood perfectly still. What if I was really a squib and can't get a wand to work? Would Godfather still want me or would he sent me back?

"Let's see this one!" I was startled by the loud voice of Ollivander. I looked at it as he described it. Hearstring core, oak, 9 1/2 inches. I slowly took it in my hands and gulped.

Here it goes.

I moved the wand with my eyes closed, but something did happen. I felt the pieces of wood on my fingers fall to my feet, and the smell of fire was lingering throughout the room.

I really did make that wand explode.

Startled, I blurted out an apology and bent down to pick up the pieces, but Lucius stopped me. He pulled at my shirt collar and I stood as Ollivander laughed.

"It's no problem! It happens all the time! We just have to find the right one for you!" He flicked his wand and the pieces of wood floated and landed in a nearby trashcan.

Five wands later, and I still didn't find the one for me. Ollivander sighed as the last one didn't do anything. No spark, no light, nothing.

"Maybe I am a squib..." I muttered as I looked at Lucius. He looked mad at me. "If you were a squib, the first wand wouldn't have exploded, Alya." He turned to Ollivander and glared at him, who shivered and went back to look at his wands.

But they were shaking. All his wands in all their boxes began shaking violently, so much that you'd think it was an earthquake. One of the wands started to glow and flew towards me at fast speed.

And I caught it.

"Well, I guess it's true that the wand chooses the wizard," Ollivander chuckled, "That lady is made of Spruce wood, 12 1/2 inches and a...." Mr. Ollivander's smile lowered slightly. "A-a thestral tail hair core..."

I looked at Lucius, who had a grin in his face. This was a good thing? I looked at my wand. It was beautifully straight, with a swirling pattern at the handle. I moved it around a little, and a warm light appeared on it's tip.

"W-wait, you cannot take that wand, miss! Thestral tail hair is highly unstable!" "Yet she managed to use the wand, Ollivander. We'll take it. It chose her as it's holder," Lucius and Ollivander talked for a while, then paid for the wand.

We soon left and walked into a book store. Godfather gave me a list and allowed me to pick them as he conversed with an old friend at the second floor of the store.

Afterwards, Godfather took me to a clothing shop. He smiled as he picked out a white turtleneck sweater. "This one looks like you," he said, and I took it from him. I loved it. "I'll take this one," I smiled.

"You can have how many you'd like, darling. Not just one," he told me as he scanned the racks of clothes with his pale fingers. "R-really? But Godfather, you've already bought me my wand and books. T-that's alot of money-" "Alya, money is just an object to me, to us. If you ever need anything, don't be afraid to ask. Now, this skirt?" He held up a plaid cream skirt. I smiled and nodded. "It goes with the sweater."

That night, after supper, I recieved a letter from Filius via owl. I sat at my daybed and read:

Dear Alya:

I miss you. I have spent one day at Hogwarts so far, studying in my chambers while everyone takes class. I made a few friends, but none as incredible as you.

Oh! I have a wand! Made of dark oak, with a dragon heart string core. What's yours???

And Severus Snape (my godfather) is so mean! Last night he yelled at me for sneaking into the kitchen for food! I was hungry ;-;

Please reply before I die of boredom. Signed, Filius.

I laughed. He was always sneaking down to the kitchen when we lived together. His dark brown hair was always kept very messily. I wondered if Snape made him get a haircut.

I took out some parchment from my table and wrote him a quick letter. I included the house elf, the destroyed wands, my glowing wand and it's special core, and how Lucius got me lots of clothes.

Lucius. He looked cold, scary and stritch, but he's actually very loving and caring. I then went to sleep, after sending the letter, hoping to start my first day of "school" tomorrow.
