The Birth of Morgan Le Fey

The two men looked at each other -- A blue pair of eyes glowing with guilt, and a brown set with loathing. Could it be that years of hardship, eternal companionship, was gone? Just like that? The memories and suffering they have endured together was overridden by such a simple thing? Just one, single misaimed spell? No words were said, but the silence said everything; The two men, who were inseparable, who were such good friends that not a moment of silence passed between them for three decades, were lost for words.

The man to whom the azure eyes belonged to, was quite tall, his bald, pale head almost grazed the top of the door frame as he stepped into the room.

"Don't you dare come any nearer!" The other man screamed. His face turned from anger, now matching his flaming hair, "I swear if you take one more step towards her, I will curse you into eternal hell!"

He was now standing in front of the only occupied bed in the hospital wing, holding his arms out in attempt of shielding the body from view.

"Godric, my dear friend-" The tall man started.

"You do not know the meaning of that word, Salazar." Godric spat.

Salazar eyes fell to the ground in shame, knowing what he had done to their friendship, he could not gather up the courage to meet Godric's glare.

"I am sorry," His voice shook, "I wasn't aiming at Leanna!"

Godric roared at the sound of her name. He ran towards Salazar with all his might and pinned him up against the wall.

"You dare to speak her name?" He growled, "The name that bears the meaning of pureness? The one thing you never were?"

"I didn't want to hit her! Please Godric, forgive me."

"Forgive you?" His eyes widened and he loosened his grip on Salazar. "Forgive you?" A menacing laugh now echoed around the room. Then Godric turned to the shaking wizard once more.

"Look at her!" He pointed at the woman laying limp on the bed, but after seeing that Salazar's eyes were not budging from the floor, he grabbed him by the collar and hurled him towards her, making him fall to his knees. "Look at her you filth! Can you see what you've done?"

Salazar's eyes slowly glided across the floor, feeling his heart thumping against his chest, not wanting to see. The sight made him feel sick -- Normally he would have felt joyful, maybe even proud, he hated muggles and anyone related to them, but the knowledge that he betrayed the only person who has stuck by him always, was killing him. The woman, in her mid-twenties, was as white as him, if not whiter. Her jet black hair stuck to her forehead with the sweat, her sky blue eyes which he knew were there, was covered by her tightly closed eyelids. She was bearly breathing.

"She won't live, much longer. Rowena, Helga and I put our best efforts together to save her but we only managed to slow down the curse." Godric said more sadly than angrily.

"I am sorry Godric, if she was only standing a bit further-"

"Don't you try and blame her! It doesn't matter where she was standing! If it hadn't been now, you would have done it eventually, your hatred towards muggles always dominated your heart, that is if you even have one."

"I do! I was aiming at the muggles trying to attack!"

"You were the one that started it all!" He shouted, "If your tiny prejudiced mind would have just been competent enough to see that we are all equal, magic or no magic, then the muggles would have never tried to attack, you would have never had to cast the curse, and SHE would still be alive!" He bellowed while pointing at her.

"Godric! I didn't come to make excuses!" He said in a slightly stronger tone.

"Then why did you come?" Godric snarled.

"To ask you... To ask you duel me! I know it would make you feel better."

Godric stared at him for a few moments. The his offer was very tempting, he wanted to cause Salazar unimaginable suffering right then, but he knew better.

"No." He said flatly.

"What?"

"You are not worthy of duelling me anymore." He said frowning.

They both looked into each other's eyes without saying a word, it felt like the silence would never end, but suddenly the distant cry of a baby sounded and Godric's eyes lit up. He knew what he must do.

"Leave!" He said, "Leave forever and never come back!"

Slytherin was about to open his mouth to protest but was silenced by Godric.

"If you don't leave right now, I am certain that Rowena and Helga will not hesitate to aid me in destroying your life."

Salazar closed his mouth and squinted at him. Resentment suddenly overpowered the guilt he felt before. He was being kicked out of his own school? The school helped found and made elite? He knew that Godric had no right to do this, but he decided keep quiet, for he knew that he was never to depart this school, not truly.

Godric watched as Salazar vanished from sight, disapparating right away. He was still thinking about how he wanted humiliate Salazar in duel -- He kept telling himself that Salazar was not worth it, that's why he declined, but deep down he knew that the real reason he said no was not because of that, but because he knew that if he started, he wouldn't be able to control himself, and he, Godric Gryffindor, was not a murderer.

"That's the last time he shall do that." Said a familiar, warm voice from behind.

"We'll have to enchant castle so that he can never return" Another, slightly deeper voice followed.

Godric turned around to see Rowena and Helga standing in the far end of the room. His heart leap when he saw that it wasn't just them but Rowena seemed to be clutching something small a wriggly in her arms.

"Congratualions Godric," She said, "You are the father of a little girl. She came out a bit early but she should survive." She smiled as she walked up to him and handed him the baby.

Godric held the fragile body in his arms for a minute before deciding to place her upon her dying mother's chest.

"She lives my love. She lives." Tears gathered in his eyes, while he sobbed.

"What do you want to call her?" .Rowena asked softly.

He looked around again, then back at his wife, just as she was taking her last breaths, "Morgan, she always wanted to name her that" He said, and almost as if it was what she had been waiting for, she exhaled for the very last time.
