14: Threats and Confrontations
To the old friends who, even after long silences, feel as though they never left.

If I could count on Tasha for one thing, it was information and she did provide me with loads by the next day. She told me that Abby Jolie was a fairly new student and that she had only moved here a few months ago with her dad and little brother.
"Her mummy got a divorce and ran off with some other dude," said Tasha, her eyes glued to her phone as she scrolled down through Abby's Instagram profile. I tried not to look over her shoulder but couldn't help it. Some of the shots taken were amazing and almost all her photos were at the beach. She was either tanning or surfing.
Lottie who was sitting beside Tasha, nodded her head approvingly. "Girl's got a killer body, that's for sure. No wonder Ace's been around her lately."
I refrained myself from saying anything, afraid that my jealously would give me away and instead started to dig around for my makeup palette in my purse.
"What's her Achilles's heel then?" I asked casually, giving up on looking for the palette.
Tasha turned to me, frowning. "Not sure yet but why are we looking for it again?"
"We," I said, emphasizing on the word, "need to properly introduce ourselves."
"We wouldn't even have noticed her in the first place but the fact that she's only been here for a few months and already has Ace's attention is impressive. I mean, dang." Lottie nodded again.
My fingers clenched but I managed to keep a straight face. "Exactly. We need to give her a proper welcome and make sure that she doesn't get too cocky after the attention she's been receiving."
Lottie turned to Tasha. "Why did she move here anyway?"
Tasha thought about it for a few seconds and muttered, "I'm not sure but... wait."
She looked up at me, her eyes gleaming. "I might have found her Achilles heel after all."
I smirked. "Attagirl."

Attacks aren't always visible or fast.
There are slow and poisonous ones that take you by surprise when you're least expecting it and even though, they're cruelly slow, they're the ones that are the most deadliest because they destroy you inside out.
What I did with Jesse was upfront but this time, I went for the silent and indirect hit with Abby. We didn't "properly introduce" ourselves to her like I had originally planned but instead we remained in the shadows and observed.
I found out that one of the main reasons Abby moved here in the first place is because she and her family wanted to get away from their mother. What she had done haunted them and the familiar people around them felt sorry for them or even criticized them for having such a mother. Apparently all that had a dramatic effect on Abby and so they decided to start fresh in a place where people didn't know them.
It wasn't hard finding Abby's mother's profile on Facebook but getting an old photo of her with Abby and her family together was another thing altogether. It seemed like she had deleted all of her old pictures online and so had Abby. But Lottie managed to find an old family photo of theirs on her dad's Facebook, where Abby's brother was only a baby.
Her father's last activity on that profile was a year ago and it was safe to assume that he didn't use it anymore.
After that, Molly and Holly created fake accounts and they started sending Abby friend requests. She ignored the requests at first but then we started sending her messages. When she ignored those too, I sent her that picture through a third anonymous account. That got her attention and eventually she replied to our texts.
All of us pretended to be a guy handling all the spam accounts just to mess around with her.
Send me your nudes.
I texted her once and the girls had a kick out of that. As expected, she didn't send the nudes but after a bit more threatening, she sent us a shot of her bōobs but was careful enough not to include her face.
How am I gonna know it's you?
I texted, replying to her shot and after sending her that, I closed my phone for a bit and applied a fresh coat of lipstick and checked myself in the mirror. Lottie and the others had class so they couldn't be here to participate in the conversation. After puckering at myself, I walked out of the girls bathroom and checked my phone for any replies. I had one from her.
Why are you doing this?
I smirked as I typed my response. 'Cause I need to jack off tonight and I need to be able to see the bìtch's face that I'll be imaginarily fūcking.
As soon as I pressed send, I bumped into someone and stumbled back, the phone dropping from my hands.
"Hey, watch it," I huffed, annoyed and was surprised to see that it was Ace. He was wearing a white T shirt today that was a bit snug for him but which made his torso more flattering.
"Surprise, surprise," he said, bending down to pick up my phone which had landed near his feet. "Who it is that you were so immersed in texting that you crashed int-"
He paused and frowned at the screen.
Oh shit, I thought to myself. He had probably seen the shot that Abby had sent me. I walked up to him and reached to grab my phone but he moved away, still looking at the screen and reading the texts.
"Hey! Give it!" I tried to grab it from him again but this time he held it up, out of my reach. He slowly looked down at me as if seeing me for the first time. The disbelief and shock was evident on his face.
"What the fūck, Megan?" He said it in such a low voice that I almost missed it. The intensity of his disbelieving stare made me shrink and I stepped away from him, a little embarrassed at being caught.
"What the actual fūck?" He repeated, his hand lowering but I made no move to try and grab it again. "I mean, this is... this is fūcking disgusting. How can you even..."
He turned away from me, sighing deeply. His free hand went up to his forehead as he rubbed it. "I can't even understand why you would do something like this. Why would you even... why did you?"
He faced me again, his eyes hard as he glared at me. "Why?"
At first, I found no voice to speak but as the seconds ticked by and he kept waiting for an answer, I looked away. "Does it really matter?"
"Just answer me, goddamn it!"
I jumped when he yelled and threw my phone down with such a force, all the pieces came apart as soon as it made contact with the ground. I was so surprised at his unexpected rage that I didn't yell back at him for destroying my phone. I could understand him being angry or even disgusted but to this level...
He started walking towards me and cornered me. "Tell me why. Now," he demanded in a restrained voice.
I looked into his eyes and realized that he must really care for her to behave in such a way. My eyes stung and I blinked rapidly, choosing to stare at his jawline instead of at him directly.
"You love her, don't you?" I whispered, fighting to keep my voice even.
"What?"
"That would explain all this... the way that you acted... you love Abby Jolie, don't you?"
