Chapter 2
Niall, being the sweet guy he is, made me some grilled cheese. We ate it while watching some football.
"You know what, I was thinking." I started.
"Yeah." He said looking over and smiling.
"And I'm thinking about getting a job. I mean I did have plans for college but I'm not sure if I still want to do that or what." I had seriously been considering getting a job or going to college. I mean I couldn't burden my uncle forever.
"Yeah, that's a good idea. What do you think you would study in college?"
"Mmm probably graphic design, digital art. Something along those lines since I like photography so much."
"That's really cool." He said enthusiastically.
"Yeah, I just don't want to have to stay on campus you know? I want to stay here if possible."
"Yeah, I get it. There are plenty of good colleges around here, we should look soon." He smiled and I could tell he was happy I wasn't focusing on earlier.
College was definitely sounding like a good path for me to take. Then I could get a job I really enjoyed. I just wasn't sure about money.
"I love the idea, I just don't know if I would be able to pay for it." I said thinking of a way I could earn money for it.
"Oh, yeah. But don't worry about that. I can help pay some and we can find a cafe or something around here that you could work at."
"Aww you wouldn't have to do that, but yeah finding somewhere I can work now sounds like a great idea. I might even be able to still enroll for next year since it's only November." I said excited about the prospect.
"Yeah probably! You want to look up some colleges now?" I was so happy that he seemed as excited as I was about college. I was bursting with excitement. My future and dreams had kind of gone on hold with my mom passing and all the hectic stuff life had thrown at me.
"Sure! I'll go grab my labtop." I walked upstairs and grabbed it off my desk.
When I got back Niall had put our plates in the sink and turned of the television.
"Okay, I'll just do a search for colleges around here and go from there." I typed it in and quite a few colleges popped up. " Looks like we have some research to do." I said as I clicked on the first link.
We spent most of the afternoon looking through before I found once that was close, and had a really nice graphic arts program. Plus they were having an open house in a few days that we had signed up for.
I lay down in my bed hoping sleep would come easily, I was pretty exhausted from the day and just wanted to rest it off. I pulled up the covers and closed my eyes. I drifted off within a matter of minutes.
I jerked awake breathing heavily. Jason, he had been chasing me in my dream and I couldn't seem to run away fast enough. I bit my lip and tried to keep it together, but it didn't last long. I started crying as the past flashed before my eyes.
I covered my face with my hands and pinched myself trying to make the memories stop. I was breathing too fast and couldn't seem to stop crying. I wiped my face and stumbled over to Niall's room.
I made it inside and shut the door before collapsing on the floor crying. He must have heard me because he sat up and mumbled something.
"Jess love, what's wrong?" He got out of bed and walked over to me.
I couldn't catch my breath enough to tell him what it was. I hugged him and he rubbed my back.
"Hey, come here." He picked me up and set me on his bed." It'll be all right. Nightmares again?" He asked in a sad tone.
I nodded and sniffed wiping my cheeks again. "I, I thought, I thought they had stopped. Now they're, they're back." I managed before another wave of tears poured down my face.
Niall's P.O.V.
I hugged her tightly as she started sobbing again, cradling her head with my hand.
"I'm so sorry baby, I'm so sorry." I whispered in her ear. I wish I could take her pain, her fear away. I hated seeing her like this, I wish there was something I could do to help her. I almost felt like it was my fault she wasn't getting better. There had to be something I could do to ease her pain.
"It's not your fault." She said sniffing.
"I know." I said sighing."Are you all right? You can stay here for the rest of the night." I offered.
"Y-yes. I'll stay here." She stuttered.
"Okay." I squeezed her one last time before laying down. She laid down beside me still sniffing and I pulled the covers over both of us.
"I love you, good night." I whispered kissing her on the forehead and brushing her hair behind her ear.
"Love you to." She said with a little smile.
I fell asleep quickly and hoped that the same was true for Jess.
"Morning babe." I mumbled to Jess, she was already awake and just laying there when I opened my eyes.
"Morning." She said with a yawn.
I couldn't help but smile, she looked so adorable with her messy hair. I leaned over and kissed her softly.
She smiled into the kiss before pulling away and sitting up.
"I guess I'll go back to my room and get ready." She said with a sigh.
"Yeah, I'll meet you downstairs in a few." I got up at the same time as her, her heading to her room and me to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
Jessica's P.O.V.
The day flew by, well, the whole week flew by. I had nightmares almost every night and by the fifth day I was almost a walking zombie.
But today was tour day. I was excited even though I was tired. I couldn't wait to see the college and learn more about their program. Although the prospect of being with people I didn't know all day was really intimidating. I barely survived school, how would I survive college? But I reckoned it was worth trying.
I went back to my room from another half-night spent in Niall's. I showered quickly and threw some clothes on, making sure they were a decent outfit of course.
By the time I got downstairs someone was already cooking. I could hear the sizzling and popping of something on the stove. I turned the corner and saw Louis cooking.
"Watcha making Lou?" I asked plopping myself on a stool.
"Some eggs, I have enough for you if you want some." He said flipping them.
"Sure." I didn't have any better plans for breakfast.
"Do you have any plans today?" He asked sliding the eggs onto two plates.
"Yes, Niall and I are taking a tour of a Liberty College." The excitement was evident in my voice as I said it.
"That's awesome Jess! I hope you like it." He said handing me my plate and a fork.
"Yeah, I think I will from their website the graphic design program is pretty good."
"Good! I'm glad you're going to college, I'm sure it'll be a good experience, and who knows who you'll meet?" He said smiling.
Meet, yeah right. My goal would be to not have social interaction
That stressed me out so much and certainly wouldn't help my grades at all. I ate my eggs and sat on the couch to wait for Niall, who was taking a surprisingly long time.
A few minutes later he popped his head downstairs and looked for something to eat.
"Sorry, I didn't make you any eggs." Louis said gesturing with his hand towards the empty pan.
"It's fine, I'll eat some cereal or something." He grabbed a bowl and poured himself some cereal.
So guys here's chapter two!! I know it ends at a weird spot, but I really wanted to publish something for you.
Disclaimer!
I have no idea if the college actually exists I made it up, and everything about it is totally fictional.
Love y'all!!
