Prolonged
Ethel POV
"Hey Ethel come on!" Yelled Dove at me with her hand on her mate's hand. Me, Dove, and Jaxon had been friends since very young age. Jaxon and Dove were mates and they knew that since before high school started. Lucky right? I wish I would've found my mate long ago and leave with him away from my family.
"You ok?" Jax asked me and I nodded.
"Yeah just fine." I said as we went to our normal coffee shop where I don't order a coffee but hot chocolate.
"So we need to tell you something." Said Dove to me as we took our seats.
"Shoot." I said smiling at her. Dove and Jaxon were the two people that had managed to save me from losing my mind because of my family. Like me they were Omegas. I see both of them smile before Dove raised her hand showing me the ring on her ring finger and my eyes widen.
"No way! You guys are getting married?!" I said excitement in my voice. No matter how jealous I was of them this was a special moment for them and I could never bring myself to ruin that.
"He proposed to me last night so you're the first person to find out." Said Dove and I smiled at the both of them.
"Congratulations guys I'm so happy!" I said and they both gave me a big smile.
"Thanks Ethel." They both said to me before or orders came. We spent the time talking about random things until it was time for me to get home. I said my goodbyes to them before I went home.
"Tomorrow go out and buy yourself a nice dress." Said my mother in a monotone voice as I looked at her weird. My family has never been one to notice me unless they needed something from me.
"May I ask why?" I asked totally curious as to why they wanted to buy me a dress.
"The king is doing a ball in two days. He invited every girl that hasn't found their mate yet and their families to this ball for his son to find his mate. We've tried multiple times to deny the invitation but it would look bad if your dad doesn't take you." She said with no care and I nodded walking to my room and called Dove.
"Missed me already?" Dove said over the phone causing me to laugh.
"Well I kinda need a favor I've never actually gone shopping for dresses so.. can we go dress shopping tomorrow?" I asked.
"Why would you want to go dress shopping?" She asked and I gave a low nervous laugh.
"Well apparently the king is having a ball in two days to find his son' s mate." I said and I heard her squeal causing me to pull the phone away from my ear.
"We'll meet up tomorrow at the cafe!" She said.
"Alright see you then." I said before laying on my bed falling asleep.
The next day I woke up and got dressed and ready before walking to the cafe. Once there I saw both Dove and Jax there.
"What's Jax doing here?" I asked kinda confused.
"He's here because I asked him to. This is a very special moment for you and we both need to be here with you." She said with a smile and I looked at her strangely.
"Dove the chances of me being the prince's mate is as thin as leaf. There is no way the prince is my mate." I said as we started to walk to the mall that wasn't that far from here.
"And why not? I mean anyone can be your mate plus what if it's not him but it's someone in the party?" She said and I thought about it.
"I guess you're right on that." I said walking in the mall.
"I know I am." She said and then dragged me from store to store trying different dresses that she liked but still said they weren't the one.
"Ok I'm done! I don't want a colorful and bright dress! Every girl there will be wearing light color dresses and I'm not like them." I said and was about to walk out when I saw a red strapless long dress that was dark red on the top and a dark but not that dark red at the bottom. It looked sexy yet not sluty. It looked amazing and it was making me want to try it.
"Why don't you try it on?" Asked Dove and I nodded taking the dress and putting it on. It looked amazing! It hugged my body perfectly and it flowed down so beautifully. It was light and comfortable and it made my eyes look even more silver than normal and it contrasted beautifully with my black hair. I walked out and everyone in the store stared at me as I smiled when I saw Dove and Jax with their mouths open.
"Holy shit that looks amazing on you." Said Jax with a surprised expression.
"Are you saying that you didn't expect her to look so good?!" Asked Dove glaring a bit at him as he scratched the back of his neck.
"Let's face it Ethel isn't exactly a girl you would see in a dress. I didn't mean it in a bad way." He said and I just laughed.
"I think I found my dress. Good thing my parents are the ones paying for this." I said and walked to the changing rooms again to put my cloth back on and walked out to go buy the dress.
"I'll go to your house tomorrow at 3 to get you ready. The ride to the prince's house is 2 hours from here so I'll get you ready before 5 alright?" Dove said and I nodded at her, once everything was done we said goodbye and I walked home putting the dress in my closet. It was already late so I went to the bathroom to take a short bath and washed my face before going to sleep waiting for the next day to come.
