🐍 Chapter 1 🐍
Forks sat beside the shore, his brown scales shining in the light. The water was quite nice in the warmer seasons, so he enjoyed it
"Forks! Ya done playing in the river?" Strike called out to him.
Strike had a flat body with pretty light and dark scales all over. The lower half of her was a warm yellow.
"Yeah, one second!" Forks answered the inpatient snake.
Forks slithered towards a mouse.
Slowly, he approached the rodent. He leaped forward and bit into it, killing the small creature.
Easy, he thought, didn't even have to poison it.
Forks spun around and looked around for his friend but she was no where to be found.
"Strike..? Where are you?"
As he slithered along he saw something fuzzy in the bush beside him.
He felt teeth graze his back.
He spun around to see his attacker.
"Strike!" Forks huffed.
"You were SO scared!" Strike said in a humorous tone.
"It's not funny! I was really worried!"
Strike sighed. "Oh, alrighttt," she half heartedly apologized, "I'm SORRY. There. Happy?"
Forks rolled his eyes playfully. He knew she wasn't actually sorry, Strike was always like that.
"Where's the pit?" He asked through a mouthful of rodent.
"Uh- pretty sure their around here...?"
"We're lost, aren't we?"
Strike chuckled nervously.
They were lost.
"Great. Didn't your mother tell you what happens to snakes who don't stick with the pit?" Forks snapped at her.
"Of course! I was following you, bug brain!"
She did have a point.
"Whatever! Does it even matter anymore? Let's just find them." He hissed, embarrassed.
The two slithered along. Forks stuck out his tongue to smell. Nothing. Strike, now holding the mouse, lost the humor in her face and was now looking worried.
A snake slid in front of them.
"Twig?" Forks said, "Twig! Is the pit close by?"
"Wha? Oh, yeah they're right over there. Where were you two!?" She huffed playfully.
"Forks got us lost like a bug brain."
"Strike!" Forks hissed.
"What? You did!"
The two began to argue.
"That's enough." A voice stopped their bickering.
"Rattle!" Forks jumped.
"Where were you?" The snake asked.
Rattle was the Head Snake of their pit, if he caught them fighting, he could send them back to training with the Snakelets.
"We got lost..." Strike admitted once again.
"Was that something a grown snake such as yourselves would do?" Rattle asked.
"Well-"
"I already know the answer, Forks. It was a rhetorical question."
Forks stiffened. Rattle spoke in a cold tone, he was not a snake to mess with.
"Go."
"Y-yes Rattle sir!" Strike stammered.
The four headed through the bushes to join the pit.
