22 || Don't Make me Laugh, I'm mad at you
Daisy's P.O.V.
"Sodapop, get away from me...NOW!" I yell loudly as I sob while still holding a rock. "Leave Sodapop!"
"I just wanna talk," he speaks. "Please, I miss you."
"You never cared," I cry. "You never loved me and that hurts."
"Maybe I wasn't ready," he speaks, "but I did, I did care. I care about you a lot and I can't stand losing you, just please."
"I said LEAVE!" I yell loudly as he inches toward me.
"Daisy, we need to talk," he speaks swiftly.
I break down in tears, "what could we possibly have to talk about? You ruined everything Sodapop and I'm not sure if I'll ever be okay again. I don't know if I'll ever be able to forgive you Sodapop? We're not best friends."
Soda grabs my arm, "we need to go."
"I said to leave me alone!" I yelp as I fall into the water.
"Daisy!" Soda screams.
I grab his ankle pulling him into the water laughing, "you're gonna get it now!"
"Really?" He asks splashing me.
I laugh loudly then look at him pouting, "don't make me laugh, I'm mad at you."
"You couldn't be mad at me for the life of you," he jokes.
"Whatever," I roll my eyes splashing him.
"Wanna go get some food?" He asks. Food? No! I don't want food! I'm not hungry. Wait! What am I supposed to say no? I'm always hungry, but now I'm not. Sure, I'm skinny, but I need to be skinnier. I'm not perfect! I need to be perfect, if I ever want Soda back and I do. Soda must of noticed the tears building behind my eyes as he speaks, "Daisy, are you okay?"
"F-food sounds great," I lie.
He smiles grabbing my hand, but I rip it out of his hand and he looks at me, "Daisy, I've held your hand since we've been little kids."
"Don't say we," I beg. "Please don't say we. It makes it sound like their can be an us again and there can't. I know there can't, so please don't say we."
"Maybe there can be a we again," he smiles his award winning smile. "Maybe we met the right person, when we met each other, and I'm just not ready to fall in love, but that's okay because, I still want to be best friends with you. I made a mistake, just please."
I give in grabbing his hand, "lets go."
"Does the Dingo sound good?" Food. Even the thought of food makes me feel sick. Especially the Dingo's food. Greasy, unhealthy, fast food.
"Sounds perfect," I lie.
"Then we can see the gang" he smiles. The gang? I'm not ready to see the gang? I'm not ready to face Lacey or Lucy, or Del, or Charlie, or Dally. Heck! I'm not even ready to face Claire and she's my one month old baby sister. Well technically, she's my niece, but we're gonna say she's my sister.
"I miss them," I dance around the truth,
Del's P.O.V.
I play with my baby sister as she giggles on my lap. The gang is sitting around joking around and laughing as usual.
"Where's Soda at?" Pony asks as he snakes his arm around Ali's lower back as she reads.
She looks over at him through the corner of her eye, "he went out somewhere, we don't have a tracker Pone."
"Some one's on their period," Two-bit remarks.
"For your information, I'm not and even if I was, I wouldn't tell you," Ali rolls her eyes making the whole gang laugh.
"Damn Al'," Two laughs, "I didn't know you were sassy."
"Good girls can be sassy too when they get annoyed," I remind Two.
"Thank you," Ali says dramatically as she points to me. "Listen to her."
The door swings open and we all cheer, "Sodapop!"
"Guess again," a girl's voice that I could never forget speaks.
We all look over to see an overly skinny, sick looking, Daisy Winston, "Daisy?"
"That's me," she speaks softly as Soda walks in behind her shutting the door. "I missed ya'll."
"She lost all her appetite!" Soda calls, but something tells me she lost more than her appetite after everything went down.
She giggles nervously as she pulls her sleeves slightly sitting down wearing sweats and a sweater-shirt that's damp. She was always in dresses or showing off her body before, "Daisy, I have some clothing in the other room, a skirt and a cute crop-top; wanna change into that, you look kind of wet?"
"No thank you," she smiles. "May I use your shower"
"C'mon Daisy," Darry smiles. "You practically grew up here, you should know you don't have to ask. We love you. Go on."
"Thank you," her voice is soft and broken as she walks away not hugging anybody. She's different. Not good different.
"She's different," I speak as I hear the water in the bathroom go on.
Charlie shrugs, "she's just nervous, she hasn't seen us for a month and a half."
"We're her family though," I remind them.
Dally speaks this this time, "maybe to us she's family, but maybe she feels a little different now.
Daisy's P.O.V.
I walk out of the bathroom with my still wet clothes on to hide my shame, "I should go. Bye ya'll, I'll see you tomorrow?"
"We'll see ya tomorrow Daisy," Dally smiles making me feel bad, that I never even hugged him, but how could I when I'm not coming back.
"You're welcome any time," Darry reminds me. "We love having you."
"Bye," I speak softly fighting back tears as I walk outside.
The door slams close and I hear Soda yell after me, "Daisy! Wait!"
I turn around smiling at his appearance knowing they'll believe my smile, "yes Sodapop."
"You're not coming back....Are you?" He sheds a tear.
I break down in tears at this point, "Sodapop, how could I? I'm not the Daisy, you remember and I'm not sure if I'll ever be that Daisy again." I go to walk away, but turn back around to look at him giving him my locket that has two pictures of him and I in it. "Just please know, that I love you."
He opens the locket crying, "god dammit Daisy! You don't get it! We don't care if your not the same Daisy! We just want you! We just want Daisy Winston! We love you Daisy and you can't keep fucking leaving us!"
"I'm sorry," my voice comes out softly.
"Don't be sorry Daisy!" He yells. "Just stay! I'm sorry! I made a mistake! I'm sorry I cheated on you! I'm even sorrier it was with Lacey, but that's no reason to stop living! You eat less, you wear baggier clothing, you're shyer, you're quiet, you're more timid, but you're still Daisy! You're still Daisy Winston and we still love you! Even though you don't want friends right now, that doesn't mean your friends don't need you!"
"Gosh Soda, you sound just like Lacey!" I yell at him.
"Well if more than one person is telling you it then you should listen! Okay? Just listen to us!" Soda screams as tears stream down my cheeks. "Please, I miss my best friend."
"Oh and you don't think I miss mine?" I roll my eyes.
"I don't know!" He yells loudly. "I thought you did, but now! Now I don't know if you miss me or not, but I miss you. So please."
"Don't see what this has done to me?" I ask. "Just take a good look at me now then take an even better look at the girl in the picture. I don't recognize myself, I don't know how you do. I don't know how the gang does." I sob loudly as I speak. "Don't you see what this has done to me? The worst part is, I'm not sure if I'll ever be the same. So I'm sorry, if I can't do this right now. I'm sorry. Okay Sodapop? I'm doing my best."
"Then stay," he begs.
I let out a loud sob before I rush away, "I can't."
"And why not?" Soda yells after me as I run away.
Dally's P.O.V.
I turn to Soda as he walks in crying, "she's not coming back...is she?"
"I'm sorry," he gasps for air in between sobs.
"It's not your fault!" Del storms our, but before she closes the door she turns around angrily, "it's hers!"
I turn to look at Charlie, "what did I do wrong?"
"Nothing," she smiles a sad, weak, small, fake smile. "You did nothing wrong at all. I love you Dallas."
"I miss them," I cry out looking into her eyes. "I miss my sisters. Just a ten months, we were fine. How can so much change in such little time?"
"I don't know," she shakes her head. "I don't know. One day I had a husband, and the next I was all alone in the big world then the next I found you, Del, and Daisy, All with in three days I went from a wife, to nobody, to a family of four. A few months later I went to a family of two and one expecting fighting for two girls. Now we're a family of three fighting for two girls. How does that happen?"
She pulls me into a tight hug as I sob like a baby on her shoulder in front of the whole gang, but I can't help it, "oh Charlie! I don't know what to do! I miss them so much! I miss them! I have Del sort of, but I still miss her! I need them! I need custody of my sisters! I need my family Del. I'm sorry."
"Shh," she rubs my back soothingly. "Shhh. It's okay, it's gonna be okay Dally."
"What if it's not though?" I ask. "I lost all hope."
"Well I have enough hope for the both of us, so that's okay. I promise," she smiles her soft, sweet, innocent smile that I have no idea how a nineteen year old still has. "I promise love. "
"Can we just go home?" I choke out.
She walks over grabbing Claire out of her crib, "sure thing Dallas. I love you."
"I love you too," I walk out the house still crying.
Del's P.O.V.
"How did everything get so messed up?" I ask Dez and Ali
"Easy," Dez speaks up. "Soda cheated on Daisy and she's hurting, but she's also really dramatic."
"Desiree!" Alison yells in a mixture of horror and shock.
"What?" Dez asks.
"Can't you tell that she's hurting?" Ali asks. "I think a lot has been building on Daisy and the whole Lacey sleeping with Soda put her over the edge. She'll be okay though, I'm sure of that. Daisy's a strong girl. You're also a strong girl."
I look up at her shocked she knew I was nervous of breaking myself, "what?"
"I know that look on your face," Ali speaks softly. "You're afraid the same is gonna happen to you, after all you are twins. Right? Well I think you've been broken before and Daisy hasn't so she didn't know what to do. Don't worry Del, this won't happen to you. I'm not sure when Daisy will be okay, but trust me she will."
"Is it bad that I'm mad at her?" I ask nervously.
Ali laughs, "it's completely normal. You're mad at her because, after all she did abandon you in this time when your family is getting ripped apart. All that you know is one day you had this loyal sister and the next day she was gone, but you'll be okay, just like she will."
I hug Ali tightly, "thank you so much Alison."
Ali smiles softly whispering in my ear, "anytime Delilah. I love you Del and I'll always be here for you. Don't mind grumpy Dez over there."
"Hey!" Dez yells. "I heard that."
We all laugh making me smile, "thanks guys. I love ya'll so much."
"Yea yea yea, big family moment. We love you too! Insert mushy gushy stuff. Goodnight," Dez grumbles before turning off the light.
"Mrs. Grumpy gills, what made you so grumpy?" Ali tries not to laugh.
"Nothing," Dez snaps.
"Mrs. Grumpy gills strikes again," I join in.
Dez grumbles loudly, "I'm fucking tired!"
"Me-ow," Ali laughs before rolling over. "Night Del."
"Night Ali!" I smile.
"Night ya'll," Dez joins in.
"Night Dez," we say at the same time making the three of us laugh.
Daisy's P.O.V.
I walk into my house to see Lucy and Lacey sitting on the couch. I wipe away stray tears pulling down my sleeves, "god!"
"Daisy?" Lucy speaks as Lacey sits there looking guilty as she looks sadly at me. "What's wrong Daisy?"
"I ruined everything," is all I manage to choke out before running upstairs into my room.
(trigger warning)
I walk into the bathroom as tears stream down my face. I look down at my scared, cut up wrist. I am stronger than this. I have to be stronger than this. I grab a razor and swipe it across my wrist, that one's for hurting Dally.-One cut
Charlie. -Two cuts
Delilah. -Three cuts
Sodapop. -Four cuts
Myself. -Five cuts
Not being a sister to Claire. -Six cuts
Letting down the gang. -Seven cuts
Not talking to Lucy. -Eight cuts
Going with Sodapop. -Nine cuts
Being dumb. -Ten cuts
I look down at my wrist as I crumble to the floor holding my bloody cuts as blood stains the carpet. Tears stream down my cheeks as I yell out in pain. I hear knocking on the door, "Daisy! Daisy! Daisy, it's Lucy! Please let me in! What happened tonight! Daisy please! You can't just shut me out! I need you! Please!"
"Go away," my voice croaks, breaking, as I whisper softly, fighting through tears.
"Please, you can't shut me out," the banging dies down as I hear her sobbing. "Please, I need you."
I sit on the ground bleeding and crying as Lucy sits outside my door begging for me, as she sobs, banging on the door.
Oh my god! I don't even know what to say to all this! I feel soo bad for Daisy! It's so hard for me to write this! Ugh! I cry so much when I write these chapter! I feel bad for all the characters. Love you! Stay gold. Do it for Johnny!
