Corey and Abby(republished)

The fan spun above his body making a light breeze dance over his paled skin. For days he had been laying there just watching the blades spin around, and around. A half empty bottle was gripped loosely in his right hand, a new beard began to grow on his chin and jawline. His eyes followed the fan blades until it made him feel nauseated.

Voices could be heard from downstairs, his friends and roommates chatted semi quietly about his health and what they would do if he didn't snap out of this self destructive behavior. He could hear Clown, aka Shaun, say that they should call Abby and see if she could help them out. Abby was what you would call his "girlfriend", so to speak. They weren't officially dating yet, but everyone knew that Abby was the girl that held his heart. Everyone agreed with Shaun and decided to call the spunky female.

Abby...

A small smile broke across his face as images of her face played across his darkened mind like a movie. He remembered the night that they had met, he was a little fucked up at the time but he was still sober enough to remember her name and face.

The two had crossed paths at a random party on the west side of De Moines. He had fallen in love with her bad ass personality, and how she always spoke her mind. She never once held back when she had something to say, even when Joey would get a bit out of hand she would curse him out for being a dumb ass. Surprisingly enough Joey would listen to her, hell they all listened to Abby. She had a way of keeping them all in line, it made things a lot easier for him at times.

"Damn." He muttered, he brought the bottle back up to his lips and took a long swig.

That night that he had met her they had almost hooked up, but someone had barged in the room before he could get her jeans unbuttoned. The person that had cock blocked him was her old drug dealer, he had came in and dragged her out of the room by her hair. Naturally he had gotten worried for her safety so he rallied up a few of his friends to go after the guy. The rest of that night was a blur to him, mainly because he had gotten hit with a baseball bat. But the next morning he woke up in Abby's bed. After she had made him breakfast she had set to trying to the blood out of his clothes. Needless to say the blood didn't come out and Mick had to come bring him some clothes.

A soft knock sounded on the door, causing his mind to pull away from his memories. He tilted his head up slightly to look at the door, another knock sounded through the room. He let out a heavy sigh and let his head fall back down onto the pillow.

"...Corey?"

She came here after all.

His heart did this weird fluttering in his chest at the sound of her voice. Slowly he pushed himself up from the warmth of his blankets and walked over to the door. When he opened up the door he saw Abby standing in front of him, a worried look was etched on her beautiful face, her long hair pulled up in a messy bun. She wore a monster hoodie, one of his old Slayer shirts, and a pair of workout shorts. He smiled softly and stepped aside to allow her to come in the room.

When the door shut Abby closed the space between them by pulling him in for a hug. He could feel her love and kindness that she held for him when he pulled her closer to him. They stood there in the middle of his room just holding each other, almost as if they were trying to kept the other from completely falling a part. Corey wrapped his arms tighter around her waist and rested his head in the crook of her neck. Hot tears filled the corners of his eyes, for weeks he had held back the tears. But now he couldn't hold them back any longer, everything he felt just came pouring out of his body. For so long he had been trying to keep himself from fully breaking down but now that he had Abby in his arms he felt like he could finally let his pain show.

His body shook with angry sobs, tears soaked her shirt as she held him. She knew that he was suffering the most out of everyone in the band besides Brenna. For so long Corey had been brave and kept his composure but now he was falling a part by the second.

"Hey," Abby pulled back from him and cupped his face with her hands. "You've been so strong these past couple months, but look at you, you're destroying yourself!"

He closed his eyes, more tears ran down his face. She pulled up her sleeve and wiped the tears from his face, he smiled and turned his face into her palm.

"You are too good for me, Abby."

She sighed and shook her head. He always told her that, but in her opinion he was by far too good for her. She always thought of him as the one that had saved her from herself. He had been her hero. He had been the one to help her recover from the drugs she had been so addicted to, plus he helped her escape her abusive ex boyfriend and his friends. She would forever feel like she owed Corey her life for the things that he had down help get her back on the right path again.

"Corey, you were there for me when I had no one to help me, now you need me to help you through this. Please, just stop shutting me out and let me help you."

He turned his head away from her for a moment, she sighed and rubbed her thumb against his cheek. Her eyes stayed locked on his face while she spoke, "Stop torturing yourself this way, it's not your fault, it's not anyone's fault. I really hate to see you like this. Hell it kills me to know that you're holding in all of this pain and you're not letting me or the guys help you cope."

He stayed silent for a little while longer before taking a deep breath and opening his eyes. Deep down he knew that he was messing up his life and needed to get things back on track. The fans, his friends and family needed him during this dark time. But most of all he had to get his life together for Paul. He wouldn't want to see Corey wasting his life away like this, he would want him to push through this and stay sober. Abby was most absolutely right, he had to stop isolating himself and drinking himself to the grave.

"You're right," he said huskily. "I have to snap out of this."

His once bright blue eyes looked dull and void of any color to her when he finally met her gaze. She smiled up at him then nodded her head.

"For Paul." He added after a moments silence.

"You're a great man, you can do this." She said then leaned up on her toes so that she could kiss his lips gently. "I have faith in you Corey Taylor."
