"It feels so good not to do any work tonight, Tikki." The bluette sighed and lounged on her pink chaise, phone in her left hand and a homemade cherry jubilee in her right.
Ms. Bustier gave the class a freebie when she said the words 'no homework' and let the class leave ten minutes early. Why she was that generous? Marinette had no idea. However, she wasn't complaining since she could have one night to relax and maybe catch up on her favourite tv shows.
Also, Hawkmoth hadn't been causing mayhem in the streets of Paris lately. Maybe he realized that the city's super heroine was in need of a well deserved break.
She unlocked her phone and scrolled through Instagram, looking at the latest posts from a username she loved to lay on.
@adrienagreste13
Adrien really made her stomach full with fluttering butterflies anytime she saw him. It was quite addicting.
His face came on the screen with a unsurprising 35,380 likes and 2,567 comments underneath, however the caption and breathtaking photo made it worth it.
"Believe in Miracles."
The picture made you feel like a warm chocolate chip cookie with a warm cup of milk. He was sitting on a stone facing the lake, the sunset creating a silhouette of his prize winning figure.
If only Marinette could tell his uber star crush that she was his star crush, Ladybug. Adrien would love her unconditionally, and life would have been great.
However, if he knew that Marinette Dupain-Cheng was his hero, he maybe disappointed at the outcome.
She was nothing like the courageous spotted heroine that he and Paris "j'adored". She was just a normal klutz with a normal life.
Yeah, okay. Maybe not exactly normal. But it was pretty close.
Marinette sipped her drink as Tikki nodded then began to sleep on a small cushion beside her. The window let in a small breeze that only made Marinette sink in her chaise more.
This was quite relaxing. A small breeze, no homework, and a good drink.
It couldn't have been better.
Or at least...
That's what she thought before her window crashed open.
"Marinette!" A voice hollered, causing the unmasked heroine to fall out of her seat and Tikki to immediately get up and hide behind the nearest object.
Marinette looks up to see the cat in leather, Chat Noir; her alter egos' partner in crime, sitting on her windowsill as purses his lips in a playful pout.
Just great. Her perfect night interrupted by the most agitating sidekick ever.
"C-Chat Noir?" She sputters, still surprised he's even in her room, it's not common to see him come to random people's houses, it could be dangerous for his identity. Plus, it's slightly messy. "What are you doing here?"
The Cat Boy gave her a small smirk and walked up to her, offering a hand. "Just came to see my purrincess is all." He rolled his 'R's and positioned his face a little too close for her own comfort level.
She pushed his face away playfully and sat back down on her chaise, taking out her phone yet again. "Well, your princess is just fine, thank you very much." She looked at his wide jade eyes, as if they were searching for something. Now ignoring the ebony kitten, Marinette rolled her eyes and went to her phone, now opening Facebook.
Of course, that wasn't enough to stop Chat from sitting beside her on the seat, his face beside her neck. "Whatcha' looking at?"
"Shouldn't you be fighting crime?" Marinette raised an eyebrow, not acknowledging his existence and kept scrolling through her feed.
"Shouldn't you be doing homework?" The Cat retorted.
"Unlike others, I don't have any tonight." Marinette scoffed, smirking.
Chat just rolled his eyes and made himself comfortable by her side.
For being Ladybug's alter ego, Marinette was letting Chat sit--cuddle up against him while they both were looking at her phone. Usually if she was Ladybug, she would have pushed him off her, or even out the window for being annoying and flirting with her when her heart clearly belonged to Adrien Agreste.
Her fingers just so happened to click his profile once again, the blonde beauty popping onto the screen. She felt Chat's ears wriggle in her hair at the sight.
"Does some princess have a crush on a boy at school?" Chat joked, Marinette's face immediately bursting into a tomato colour. How embarassing of him!
"No, no I don't!" She half screeched, locking her phone and pushing Chat, not enough to get him off the lounger but just enough for Chat's reflexes to kick in.
"Oh, you so do!" He teased, chuckling.
"And so what if I did?" She huffed, her face still a stop sign red.
Good thing luck was on Chat's side as he felt his cheeks get hot. "Oh. You weren't kidding."
Marinette's eye twitched. Is this some kind of joke to him? Not only was she one of his first friends, but she was also crushing on him hard core. Chat wouldn't know a thing about love, the only way he was going to get Lady's heart is to stop with the terrible puns....
"Do you really think I would kid about a crush?" She looks around the room, avoiding his gaze. It's until she realizes his sarcasm as he's holding up a couple of magazines with her crush on the front cover that she blushes madly.
"H-Hey! Put that down! That's a limited edition copy of Vogue!" She now becomes the cat of the two and pounces on him to get it back before he can smudge the ink--if it were able to be smudged. Unfortunately, Chat is quicker on his feet than Marinette expects.
Chat ran around the room like a five year old while also screaming "Mari's got a crush!" For a good 15 minutes until Marinette went full Ladybug on his butt and pinned him down, grabbing the magazine in victory.
Thank goodness her parents weren't home for another two hours, I'm sure they didn't want to be coming back from their date to their daughter cuddling up to Paris' Hero. Marinette got up and placed the magazine back onto the stack she had beside her computer, and instead went and sat on her bed, opening an issue of Seventeen and burying herself in the pages.
Chat had done enough damage, but not enough teasing. He crept up the small staircase to her bed, and laid beside her.
Unknowingly, he was laying on Marinette's favourite edition of Seventeen, The one with Adrien on the cover wearing a bad ass Wolverine Costume. It wasn't until Chat shifted on the bed that he noticed the pages crinkle beneath him.
The awkward noise made the two stop breathing for a good 6 seconds before Marinette half screamed.
"CHAT GET OFF." The next thing he knew, Chat is on the floor with a bunch of pillows thrown at his face, and a pale faced Marinette trying to fix the wrinkles in her prized possession.
It's minutes before Chat approaches her again, the two looking at the cover.
"I'm sorry, Marinette." The Cat admits, carefully placing a hand on her shoulder. "But hey, he still looks sweet in that costume."
Marinette's eyes wavered across the photo, giving a small grin. "He does look amazing, doesn't he?"
Chat knits his eyebrows in question. "I suppose, but I think he could have looked a little better."
The girl looked semi insulted. "How so?"
"Well, he looks like he's about to get his hands kissed by a princess and not about to attack and save the world." Chat admits, pointing at the 4 inch claws on Adrien's hands.
Of course, Marinette disagreed. "He's supposed to be prince like? But I guess I do see your point."
"Maybe if he had his claws in, you know towards-" The boy in leather started, but was cut off as he started to lose his black leather suit.
Oh no.
If Marinette didn't act in two seconds, the cat on her lap will become a civilian she might know.
"aAAAAAAHHHH-" She starts screaming and tosses more pillows at him, after retreating to hide under her many blankets.
As for Chat, he now was transformed back into his civilian self, his kwami falling into his hands.
The little fairy grunted. "Done having an affair with the girl so we can go home?"
'Chat' just shoved his kwami in his blazer and approached Marinette's bed. He was a little nervous to approach her as this his first time revealing his identity to someone else.
She may not be ready to know. He could put her in huge danger.
"Marinette?" He asks, but gets a sharp reply from the girl.
"Don't let me see you, Chat." She shrieks, as if she's calm, but he can sense the fear in her voice. Nonetheless, he approaches her again, sitting right beside her head.
He touches the top of her head softly at first, very suddenly, but subtle enough to make Marinette calm.
"What are you doing?" She asks.
"Marinette, I realized after the three months I have been visiting that I may or may not have feelings for you."
He can't see her face, but he can tell she's probably flustered.
"But what about Ladybug? Aren't you gaga for her?" She stutters a bit on the word Ladybug. Marinette knows she can't reveal herself as well, it would be too dangerous for the both of them.
"I never had a chance with her. Sure, she was everything I dreamed of, but no matter how close I was to her, her heart belonged to someone else..." He trails off. He's not sure how to feel. "I then met you. And you changed who I am as a person, seeing who I really am and knowing how much you treasure people's differences."
He tries to pull the covers off. She resists but it isn't enough to stop him.
It's almost like he found gold in the way he threw the sheets off. She was glowing.
"Sit up and close your eyes." He demands, Marinette blushing at the cheeks. She's unsure and scared, but does as he says.
The room has a very stiff atmosphere as Chat kneels on one knee and holds her pale hands in his. He's very very nervous but he's certain this will be for the best.
He can feel her shaking. She's so so scared. Like she's gonna faint.
"I know this is gonna be so sudden, but please don't hate me." He says. "All I want you to know is the person under this mask loved meeting you and will admit his feelings without the mask."
Marinette hears his voice and gives the best smile she can muster before his warm lips lock with hers.
She's startled at first, but he feels like a warm winter night- she's falling hard for him as she softly kisses back.
The warm breeze returns as they retract, leaving a sweet pink sprinkle of blush on their cheeks, but of course Marinette can't see.
She's awestruck. She was so sure she liked Adrien, but Chat did understand her better...
"I'll be going now." He mutters and gives her one last peck on her forehead. "If you figure out who I am, let me know."
And with that, he fled the room, Marinette finally opening her eyes and touching the lips that Chat kissed.
She stands up and sees a sticky note on her monitor, walks up towards it and reads it slowly.
"Sharing an Umbrella with you was the best moment of my life. Thanks for the kiss, Princess." -Chat
Marinette reads each word out articulating every syllable. Looking at the handwriting and thinking about it.
Wait.
Sharing an umbrella? When did they share one? The only person who shared with her was-
It's then the connections click.
"ADRIEN????" She screams. And flops onto her chaise once again, knowing she just kissed Adrien Agreste, who is also her sidekick, Chat Noir.
They say the perfect person exists, but no one is perfect.
Mask or no Mask, she's in love with him.
and one slip-up made love real.
