Chapter 10
Dream glanced from the cabin to the manor the vampire had run off to. He should have killed him when he had the chance, but he did lead him to where Sapnap was hiding. Dream glanced at Bad, signalling for him to follow the pink haired vampire. Bad nodded and disappeared into the shadows, you could just barely see him jumping from shadow to shadow, quickly covering the distance between him and Technoblade. Dream stayed in the tree above, watching as the group left the cabin, there were too many of them for him to jump in and- He lost his trail of thought when Drista came out. She may have been a vampire, but she was still his sister. Maybe he could talk to her, convince her to talk to Sapnap and get him to go back. War was messy and he shouldn't be in the middle of it.
"He's gone back to the manor," Bad said, leaping back into the tree next to him, "it's swarming with vampires."
"Leave him, we have to keep an eye on the prince," Dream said, his eyes narrowing as he looked at Tommy, "and convince him to come back."
"What an odd group," Bad said, "why would he want to ally with a vampire, demon, and ghost. Aren't those rare? Wait is he, you know?"
Dream nodded, not wanting to say anything more. He jumped down from the tree and onto the roof. The wood creaked under his feet, barely holding his weight. Dream bent down putting his hands on the wood to spread his weight out. Philza soon came out with a messenger bird and a note attached to it's leg, he then took off in a gust of wind towards the manor. Dream then leapt from the roof, the shingles falling off as he skidded down the side. He pushed the door open trying to find any clue as to where they would be heading.
"Follow that bird," Dream called to Bad. He looked around to find two scrolls, one pristine and rolled up, the other left out in the middle of the floor. The second one was a map of their world, he opened the first one to find the prophecy on it. Dream then remembered something, Sapnap always had ideas of sitting down with the vampires to negotiate and end the war. He knew where they were heading.
"They're going to the Northern Palace," Bad said from one of the windows, "that's what the note said at least. That fallen angel was trying to grant them safe passage. Apparently mister Sapnap is going with them willingly."
"Good, we can cut them off, they'll have to cross over eventually," Dream said, it was going to be a slow hunt. The moon was beginning to go down, he had to hurry if he wanted to stay on their trail, "can you cross over and let George know what's going on? It'll be a few days before we reach the castle."
In the human world Quackity and Niki were down in the cellars below the castle.
"These are all the books I used to make that spell," Quackity put down a large stack of books on the table with a thud, "all we have to do is figure out which combination of spells I used."
"You don't have any notes on it," Niki asked, it would take them a few days to go through all of them with no references.
"Nope, but I'll know what it is once I've seen it," Quackity laughed weakly, "now that I think about it notes would have been a good idea."
"You think," Niki said, raising an eyebrow.
"Bahaha, what's going on here," George chuckled as he came down the stairs.
"We're trying to find Sapnap," Quackity said.
"Well you're a little late, Clay already found him," George sat down on the bench as well.
"That's great," Quackity exclaimed, "when are they coming back?"
"No idea, he and Bad have to convince him to come back and not go to the Northern Palace," George said.
"Good luck with that," Quackity chuckled, "once Sapnap has his mind set on something there's no changing it."
"Maybe we should help him," Niki suggested, "I mean we are Sapnap's friends after all."
"You guys do what you want, I'm staying here, just in case anymore demons decide to sneak in," George said.
"Did he say where he was," Quackity said, and he started flipping through a book just in case he didn't, landing on a page that piqued his interest.
"Bad said something about crossing back over before he left," George said, his eyes landing on the page as well, "Wait what's that?"
"Oh, 'Ghost Prevention Spell' I used it to ensure that using the teleportation spell wouldn't separate the soul and body," Quackity said, taking a quill and well of ink to write it down on an empty piece of parchment.
"Could it fix someone who was a ghost," George asked, remembering how terrible Clay had felt when he found out what he had done to Tommy and Phil.
"Theoretically, yes, I would just need to alter parts of the spell, but I mean that teleportation spell was a success so I don't see why not," Quackity said excitedly, he was all for a challenge.
~~11 years ago, no man's land~~
The sun was starting to set which meant that the vampires would start to cross over and possibly overwhelm them, just when they were beginning to get the upper hand. The suit of armor was starting to feel like lead to Wilbur, but he stood strong and kept a hand on the sword at his side. He had to get through another night, he had to go home to Tommy and Techno, if he stayed alive it meant none of them would have to get drafted for the war that they had no idea about.
"Keep steady men," the group's captain said, he motioned with his hand for them all to form a circle, but Wilbur didn't get the message in time. A group of demons came out, but they weren't the normal demons they fought against. These weren't even recognizable as humans once, their flesh had burned off, they had thin wiry frames, and in some places bones could be seen. These were creatures straight from the Nether. In a flash one raked his claws down Wilbur's face causing him to fall back in agony. His squad just slowly backed away, they had chosen their target, he was their way to escape, alive and mostly well.
"Help!" Wilbur screamed as his armor was torn off and ripped to shreds, "help me!"
No one moved back to him, they just slowly moved backwards. He was a lost cause at this point. The nether demons ripped into his flesh and tore him apart. At this point he was already dead, and the pain ceased, but the damage had already been done. They had ripped his soul from his body and Wilbur would never reincarnate properly.
Weeks later he found himself back home, he didn't remember how he got there Wilbur was just thrilled to see his brothers and father again. He walked through the house, but when he ran into Technoblade he was unrecognizable. His identical twin had managed to dye his hair pink and his once short hair had grown out into a tattered mess.
"Dad, when is Will coming home," Tommy came over and asked Phil in the kitchen.
I'm right here he tried to say but no words came. Wilbur finally walked over to one of the mirrors to find just a thin outline of himself. How was this even possible? He was right here, he could see them, but they couldn't see him. Wilbur placed his hand upon the glass and found a mark where his hand had been. Maybe he could tell them he was there. Wilbur ran up to the attic where all of Tommy's charcoal pencils were and grabbed one along with a piece of parchment. Hearing the noise upstairs Techno went up to check it out.
I'm back, he had written on the paper and held it up in front of him, I like your hair. Techno couldn't believe it, it was impossible yet here he was.
"Will," Techno said, "we were told you died."
"I did," he asked, he had no memory of it, just of fighting alongside the other troops.
"It really is you," Techno still could believe it as a more solid Wilbur appeared, "I dyed my hair because I kept seeing you in the mirror."
"That's okay, I really do like it," Wilbur said hugging Techno as he started sobbing.
Oh the feels. Yay finally told how Wilbur died. I wanted to include a reference to the Nether somehow. I don't have much to say cause my brain is just mush right now, but thanks to Tommy angst go brrrr. Well as alway thanks for reading and please vote and comment!
