Prologue

Third person pov:

The Great Hall was silent for a moment, people stood with each other and mourned over the loss of their loved ones who lay strewn across the floor in front of them. Tears slowly dripped down manys faces and poured down others, their sorrow overwhelming a lot of them as they felt to the floor. The silence was broken as the final body was carried into the hall, outrage brewed as they saw who it was. The carriers of the body laid it down with the others.
, acting as if it were no different from them. In a way it wasn't, Voldemort had been defeated, the one who thought he would rule the world was now laid amongst all the others who had fallen. The only difference was he did not have people mourning over him, instead the sight of his body brought hope for a better future, an end to the unjust deaths. The boy who lived entered the hall last, bowed heads turning and looking at him. There were no cheers as he entered. The celebration you might expect from the defeat of Voldemort was the last things in people's minds when they were in a hall surrounded by their dead loved ones. Harry walked to the centre of the hall and took a deep breath.

" Uh... Hello everyone, I don't really want to make a speech but I wanted to say thank you to all who fought, both living and dead. You are the reason we are standing here having defeated the great evil that stood before us. We have all suffered great losses today and I will not hold you from your mourning any longer but remember you are not alone, I and many others are here if you need a shoulder to lean on."

Ron and Hermione came up to Harry and engulfed him in a group hug, they tried to smile but the sorrow in their eyes showed through it. They shared a moment of silence knowing that nothing had to be said to voice how they feel, they had been through so much together that they could recognise what the others were feeling.

Ron went back to his family who were standing around Fred's dead body, none of them looked up when he approached. Molly sobbed quietly into Arthur's shoulder as she felt her biggest fear become reality. Percy stood stiffly beside George mumbling soft apologies to him, wrapped up in his own thoughts and replaying Fred's death in his head in a never ending loop. Everyone could see George had been the one most impacted by his twin and best friend's death. He looked like he had been kissed by a Death Eater, his eyes no longer had the shine they always held when pulling pranks with his brother, instead they looked empty and soulless. Ron put an arm around George hoping to be some sort of comfort. George did not react in any way so Ron stood there mourning with him in silence.

Hermione had gone to see what she could do to help the wounded. She walked all over the hall talking quietly and helping heal those who needed it. It broke her heart to know that there was nothing she could do to fix the broken hearts of the people that had lost so much. She was the know it all, she always knew the right answer to everything, everything except this. In this situation she didn't have the answer, she didn't know what to do and that scared her immensely.

The next person to approach Harry was Ginny. She had tear tracks evident on her face but she couldn't stand still and stare at Fred's dead body, so instead she went to Harry. She approached carefully and he looked up at her. They had a conversation with their eyes. They both knew their relationship was not going to continue after everything that had happened, they both had too much to process to throw a romantic relationship into the mix. They nodded at each other signifying that they were both thinking the same thing. Ginny wrapped her arms hesitantly around him in a soft hug and Harry reciprocated it with the same level of gentleness. They pulled away from the hug and stared into each other's eyes for a second. More tears fell gently down Ginny's cheeks and Harry wiped one away before he walked slowly out of the hall.

Harry pov:

Harry gave a small nod to Minerva as he passed her and started walking down the now destroyed hallways of his beloved school and home. He ran his hands along the huge cracks that were now slashed through the walls that had felt so safe and solid before. He continued walking, not sure where he was going. He just knew he didn't want to stay in the sorrow anymore. He wanted to run away or wake up and find this was all some horrible dream. But he knew that it was all real, they had won, but at a cost way too high. So many had died, died for him. Harry approached a wide hole in ground made by an attack that looked never ending.
"It's all my fault!" Harry yelled into the nothingness of the hole. He heard his echo come back to him and as he did he heard another voice.

"Don't give yourself so much credit Potter." Harry turned to see the back of the blonde's head as he walked away, not waiting for Harry's response. That was the moment Harry let himself cry. He had been holding it in for so long that as he saw his former enemy turn a corner and leave him he felt something inside him snap and all his emotions crashed into him at once. He fell to the ground, a few stray tears that slipped from his eyes soon turned into loud unattractive sobs.

Harry had no clue how long he stayed curled in a ball sobbing. He was brought back to reality by the sound of footsteps in the distance. He quickly stood up preparing to see who it was but the suddenly he felt like his body was taken over by an overwhelming urge to run. So he did.

I hope you enjoyed this new version of the prologue. I'm much happier with how this flows and I'm going to have much more structure to this story than there was before. I'm going to be changing quite a bit, but don't worry it will only be better and will follow the same concept as before.
Also I do not stand by JK's opinions and I do not like her.

Love y'all <3
