Often times allows us to see
Your eye's opened and you looked around. This wasn't your bed, obviously.
It was a forest. The wind created a gentle breeze, and the air was slightly cool. Nothing bad, of course. The air is lightly moist, the ground is wet.
The sky was darkened by clouds, and you swear you couldn't even see the sky, just dark gray clouds.
The air had smelled strongly of leaves, it was rather pleasant. Off in the distance, you could hear creaking and groaning, you weren't sure what it was, and it slightly freaked you out.
It didn't sound much like creaking or groaning of a building or a tree, it sounded more like the creaking and groaning of an odd creature.
The only natural sounding thing sounded like a heavily distorted cow bellow. Everything about this scenario freaked you out.
You had full control over your actions, and nothing looked out of place, so this surely wasn't a lucid dream, right?
Right...?
Your thoughts were racing, trying to see if you recognized the area or not, only to find that you didn't. Of course, you didn't, why would you?
But that wasn't the only thing on your mind, oh no. There were also thoughts of how you managed to get to this location, and what you would eat, either now, or later.
Mostly, your thoughts were on your family. Your siblings, your parents, and your friends. Would they miss you? Would they even know?
You stood up from the ground, you were wearing the clothes you fell asleep in. Most certainly not the most comfortable to potentially be surviving in.
With a heavy sigh, you slowly started to make your way through the forest, from your observations, they mostly appeared to be giant sequoia trees, and small amounts of silver maple trees and northern white cedar trees scattered about.
Why did you know so much about trees? Why not!
You made your way around one of the sequoia trees, and continued onward, eventually finding a rickety old hunting cabin. It didn't seem like anyone used it, nor did anyone live anywhere nearby, so perhaps this would be a good place to stay?
In fact, the more you thought about it, the more you realized that this was the only thing remotely manmade anywhere near you, and the only sign of human life... Placed conveniently, too.
But then again, if someone made this, you were sure they wouldn't want you staying there. Plus, you were also sure that was illegal on some degree, but then again, so is trespassing, but was it really trespassing if you didn't know how you got there?
Or was this world empty? Devoid of any humans aside from you?
You sighed, thinking about this decision. To stay, or to leave?
With a shake of your head, you looked at the foliage. Hemlock grew nearby, along with snapdragons, bluebell, primrose, and daisy. You could swear you also smelled sunflower nearby as well, which was a bit odd to say the least.
You walked up to the cabin to inspect it, only to find a note. It appeared to be addressing you, and apparently this was your cabin.
From what the note reads, you inherited it from family. How lucky! It's almost coincidental.
With this newfound confidence, you found the key and walked inside after unlocking the door. It was worn down pretty bad, yet you might be able to repair it.
Walking around a bit more and exploring the cabin. The furniture seemed to be in a state of disrepair, and the cabin smelled musty, and seemed to have many surfaces covered in dust.
This was it, though. Safety. With that note, you went back to wondering; what if this was a dream, and you went to sleep?
