Chapter Ten- The Wedding Dinner
The priest spoke. "Lina Inverse and Gourry Gabriev have both chosen rings to exchange with each other as a symbol of their unending love. As you place this ring on Lina’s finger, please repeat after me. 'With this ring, I thee wed and pledge you my love now and forever. Lina, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge: to love you today, tomorrow, always, and forever."
Gourry had a golden ring with a red ruby circle gem in it. Lina's hands were covered with dress gloves that matched the color of her dress. Gourry placed the ruby-gem ring on top of Lina's gloved finger. "With this ring, I thee wed and pledge you my love now and forever. Lina, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge: to love you today, tomorrow, always, and forever."
"Lina, place the ring on Gourry's finger and repeat after me: "With this ring, I thee wed and pledge you my love now and forever. Gourry, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge: to love you today, tomorrow, always, and forever."
Lina got her ring from Amelia. And she gently placed it Gourry's ring finger. It was a silver ring with a blue sapphire-circled gem on top of it. "With this ring, I thee wed and pledge you my love now and forever. Gourry, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge: to love you today, tomorrow, always, and forever."
After Gourry and Lina both had their engagement rings on their fingers, the priest spoke. "A ring is an unbroken circle, with ends that have been joined together, and it represents your union. It is a symbol of infinity, and of your infinite love. When you look at these rings on your hands, be reminded of this moment, your commitment, and the love you now feel for each other."
As the priest said those words, Lina and Gourry both looked down at their ring fingers specifically to admire their special engagement rings. Lina's ring was made of gold and ruby diamond. While Gourry's ring was of silver and a sapphire gem. They then both gazed back up into their eyes to make loving eye contact with each other.
"By the power vested in me by the Kingdom of Saillune, I now pronounce you, Gourry Gabriev, and Lina Inverse as husband and wife. Gourry, you may know kiss the bride." continued the priest.
Gourry then lifted Lina's wedding veil to reveal her gorgeous face. He was blushing because of the pretty sight that she was. "Lina, you look beautiful."
"Thanks, Gourry." Lina said. "You dress up nice too." she grinned. She began to blush as Gourry was getting closer to her face.
Gourry looked down at Lina's pink lipsticked-glossed lips, and kissed her. After the kiss, the audience was followed by a huge round of applause and wedding bells.
Gourry and Lina both walked arm-in-arm down the carpeted hallway as some people threw cherry-pink flowered petals at them. After the wedding was over, the wedding party began in a huge ballroom. It was a dinner party at first, with the guests being served fancy foods and deserts.
Lina and Gourry were both sitting at their own table, having a huge feast together as husband and wife to enjoy. And, this time they both weren't fighting over who gets the last piece of the chicken drumstick. Gourry had his hands on it first but he no longer wanted to argue with Lina over it.
Since today, food was of less importance to him. He had the woman of his dreams for the rest of his life, right in front of him. And that was enough for him to make him happy. He silently grinned at her with his dreamy-eyed winked facial expression. He decided to split apart the large chicken drumstick that he was holding, into splitting it apart into two separate pieces.
"There you go, it's all your's," he gave Lina the larger piece, while he got stuck with the smaller piece with less meat. But he didn't really mind it. After all, it was just food. "Gourry," said Lina, being surprised with him giving her the larger piece of the chicken. "How come you're not arguing with me over who gets the last drumstick? Usually, you do? Why change your mind about it?"
"Looking at you with my eyes, makes me realize that I finally have you. After, all this time. It makes me not want to argue with you at our wedding day, over food. You are mines now. And, that's all that really matters to me. I wouldn't trade you for the world, not even for a piece of a large chicken drumstick. Having you is enough for me, Lina. And, I'm happy about it. And, I don't want to ruin it." said Gourry, seeing that Lina had the chicken drumstick on her white plate. "So, go ahead and enjoy that chicken drumstick. I don't mind at all."
"Gourry." said Lina. "It's weird that you have changed in some ways, since we found out our feelings for each other. And, since we have gotten married. I have noticed that you have become a generous person. Which, I like." she got a fork and stabbed it in her drumstick food. "Thanks for the chicken, by the way." she raised the forked-chicken and bit into it. She then swallowed it. Smiling with her closed eyes, she said, "Chicken is my favorite. It's so yummy."
Xellos, Zangulus, and Zelgadis were having dinner at a large table that was suited for special guests with Martina, Amelia, Sylphiel, Filia, Lina's family, and Gourry's family. "This food is great, Amelia." said Zelgadis, eating pasta with a fork.
Amelia was sitting next to Zel. "Well, we do have some great cooks here in the Kingdom of Saillune. Lina helped me with the food preparations as well. She helped me taste some of the samples of the food for the wedding, before deciding that it was worth serving here."
"I'm not really surprised. She and Gourry sure like their food." said Zel, seeing Gourry and Lina eating from afar a distance from them.
"Can you blame her? I mean, food is delicious too." said Amelia. "Of course, I would of done the same too. She has some great thinking skills and knowledgeable taste buds."
