Thirty-Five
Jin lay in bed, his gaze fixed on his daughter's crib, watching her sleep, while Jungkook's words absorbed his thoughts. He didn't understand what Jungkook was saying about his father and had questions, but he declined to continue the discussion with him, sending him to bed without saying anything further.
When he heard the room's bathroom door open, he averted his gaze to see Jungkook emerge with his towel slung over his waist. His eyes widened as he followed Jungkook to the dresser, and he immediately closed them as Jungkook dropped his towel and turned to face him. He took a long breath and turned his head back to gaze at Moon, who was still soundly sleeping, before closing his eyes and wrapping himself even more into the cover.
His heart was racing in his chest as he attempted to fall asleep, and he didn't like that the King had seen him gazing at him. He was relieved when he heard movements about the room as the King proceeded to get ready for bed, as he assumed he hadn't noticed him looking at him. He didn't want the King to gain any ideas.
When he sensed movement on the bed next to him as the King joined him, he slid closer to the bed's edge, hoping to give the King as much room as possible. He first felt a pull at the blanket he was wrapped in, and he had to let go of his grip reluctantly. He didn't enjoy sharing his cover, but he couldn't avoid it now that he was sharing a room with the King. He didn't see why they couldn't use their own blankets; it was his preference.
Shortly after, the King's arm came out to him, wrapping around his waist and drawing his body closer to his. Jin could tell he wasn't wearing a shirt since he was crushed against the King, which wasn't unusual because he wore one some nights and didn't the next.
"It's time for you to quit watching her and go to bed." She'll be quite fine." Jungkook muttered in his ear, placing his lips against his ear for a brief moment before putting his head on Jin's pillow, his arms tightly wrapped around him and their bodies close.
Jin didn't answer; instead, he closed his eyes and pretended to sleep.
"We're planning dinner with your parents for tomorrow. I expect you to say nothing but positive things about our relationship. Also, I'm having lunch with my kids on Saturday, and I expect you to be there; they must see you more as time goes on. I need you to join Jimin at a charity event he typically organizes quarterly next week Wednesday; it's something I agreed to four years ago. Jimin does a great job at it, and I want him to keep it; but, I need you to come and start thinking about different things we can do to give back or do in general, which I want you to own as my future husband."
Even though Jungkook was speaking, Jin did not respond or react, which irritated him immediately. "Are you deaf to what I'm saying?"
"No, my King, I am trying to sleep, if that's okay."
"You were calling me Jungkook earlier; why are you now back to calling me, King?"
Jin sighed, "because it's what I have been punished time and time again to call you."
"Punished?" Jungkook laughed. "Wow, when have I ever punished you for not addressing me as your King? Did I punish you for calling me Jungkook earlier? No, I didn't, so don't tell tales like that. You may call me Jungkook from now on in the comfort of our house; I prefer it since I am no longer simply a King to you but your future husband. When we're outdoors, I want you to continue to refer to me as your King because I am and will always be your King; it's also critical that my husband leads the kingdom by example so that others might follow in your footsteps."
"I have been punished in the past-"
"I didn't ask you to make any remarks in the past. If you didn't know, I'm working on our future. Which I anticipate you to start working on with me as well. I've previously said that I can't reverse anything from the past, but I am eager to pursue a new path into our future with your help."
Jin gently shook his head and closed his eyes, realizing that he couldn't win with the King and that he couldn't continue the back-and-forth with him without waking Moon.
"So you have nothing to say regarding our future?"
"Jungkook, I am tired. Can I please sleep?"
"After you answer my question."
"Right now, I don't have an answer; I'm still learning how to be a father to Moon and deal with problems. I'm having trouble thinking about what you'd want me to think about. You're flawlessly arranging our future on your own, and no matter what I say, you won't consider it."
"That's not true; I am willing to consider things; what do you want me to consider?"
Jin knew Jungkook was lying when he said he would entertain any of his ideas, but since he had to stay in the kingdom, he chose to bring up the most important issue to him. "My parents are elderly and need to be cared for; I know Jimin has done a lot to assist them with people and things, but as their son, it is my obligation, not a stranger's. I'm supposed to know what's going on with them; I'm supposed to be the one attending their visits and speaking with their physicians. Moon should be able to see them and interact with them, Jungkook; I want to have my parents here permanently. I don't believe you realize how much it bothers me not to be able to visit them whenever I want. Would you be alright if Moon wasn't allowed to visit you?"
"Done, they can move here permanently."
"Seriously?" Jin said, turning in the King's arms so he could gaze at him.
"Did my response sound like a joke to you?"
Jin leaned his head towards the King, tears in his eyes, and said, "Thank you very much, this means a lot to me, thank you."
"We'll inform them about our decision tomorrow, as well as our wedding announcement. I anxiously await gaining your parents' blessing for our future together."
Jin attempted to back away from the King, but his powerful grip made it difficult for him to move. "I thought you said you were going to give me before we married; can we wait off on telling my parents about it?"
"No, they'll be informed tomorrow; what are you attempting to hide? Have you considered marrying someone else?" As he scowled at Jin, Jungkook let go of his grip on him and sat up on the bed.
Jin immediately shook his head, "no, that's not it-"
"Let me state myself clearly. We're getting married, Seokjin, and the sooner I make these announcements, the better. I believe I did a good job in our earlier conversations. I find it suspicious that you want your parents to come here yet don't want them to know the truth about our relationship."
"What reality is it that I came here to sleep with you and become pregnant?"
"That was a long time ago!" Moon awoke from her slumber and began weeping as Jungkook roared. "Look what you did by bringing up the fucking past," Jungkook exclaims angrily to Jin as he gets out of bed and walks over to his daughter's crib.
"You know, I am aware I am not alright in some aspects, but I am trying," he said as he cradled her in his arms and rocked her back to sleep. "Do you believe that everyone is flawless? Do you believe you're flawless because you clean everything fifty million times or because you have some f-damn type of value system? You're not perfect. You, too, have imperfections, so I don't think you should criticize me for this based on mine and try to view me in a manner that makes you love me. Seokjin, you have to love me; you can't keep staring at me like I'm a monster; I don't like it."
"Jungkook-"
"I'm not interested in hearing from you; your choice of words will irritate me, and I'd rather be alone right now. I don't believe you realize how much I was laughed at and humiliated today due to your feelings against me when I attempted to explain that we are getting married to the people I consider my friends. Everyone was ecstatic that Yoongi wanted to marry Jimin, but no one has been ecstatic about me or our future, not even you. You know, I had this idea that, for once, someone other than my kids might care about me, but of course not; what the f-hell was I thinking?" Moon's blanket was taken from her crib by Jungkook, who went out of the room with her, leaving Jin alone in the room.
