Part 6: A Venomous Situation

Picture is Ai again in her human form. (Aka blue eyes and new clothing/hair)

Mitsu, Kuroyami, and now joined by Ai were all walking back to Akihiro's cave figuring that perhaps in the time they were gone he had finished preparing the sword.

"Kuroyami." Mitsu addressed the purple haired girl as they watched Ai skip ahead of them. "Why did you allow her to come along with us. She's so young couldn't she end getting hurt?"

"I'll make sure that doesn't happen." Kuroyami stated simply.

"But I was under the impression you wouldn't let people distract you from whatever it is your goal is. You're forcing me so I understand that, but what do you gain from this?" He asked.

"Mitsu I don't think you quite understand Ai's situation." Kuroyami glared at him slightly. "She's a half demon, meaning one parent was human and one was demon. Since she has both bloods she isn't technically either species. She is not excepted by humans for her demon side, and isn't excepted by demons for her human side. She quite literally has no one to turn to, but slave traders or complete isolation. That's how she's lived thus far in her life. So I'm going to give her a place where she can stay..."

"Hm... I never knew she could go through so much rejection..." he then chuckled. "And yet look... she still seems to stay so cheerful."

"Yami-Chan!" Ai suddenly called. "Are we going to be there soon?"

Kuroyami blinked surprised by the new nickname, but decided to ignore it. "Yes Ai it's just a little bit longer."

Mitsu felt himself slowing down a bit and he watched as Kuroyami and Ai walked in front of him. He started to feel... strange. His head started to spin and his vision blurred slightly. He felt his legs grow weak and he fell to his knees."

"Mitsu?!" Ai's voice echoed through his ears as he suddenly sensed the two girl's in front of him. He tried to focus his sight on them.

"Hey, hey! Come on don't black out on me!" Kuroyami shouted desperately trying to keep him conscious.

"What's wrong with him?!" Ai asked in worry.

"Must be poison, but from what?" Kuroyami asked.

"Goblin.... bit arm..... earlier..... strange... color..." Mitsu huffed out between large breaths.

"Strange color? What do you mean strange color, what color was it?" Kuroyami asked speaking quickly.

"Dark.........." he was struggling even more now. "Almost... black..."

"Damn those ones have venom." She tried to keep him sat up.

"No!" Ai shouted as Mitsu fell to onto his side, coughing out a bit of blood.

"Mitsu! You better stay with me you idiot! Just hold on a little longer!" Kuroyami's voice shouted to him distantly before the world around him went black...

-&-

"What are we going to do?" Ai asked in worry as they had Mitsu laid in front of Akihiro's fire.

"It's best not to move him anymore..." Akihiro instructed. "I can keep him going for as long as I can, but the poison has already spread considerably. You two will have to go get the antidote yourselves, and if I were you I'd make it fast... Kuroyami you know what to get don't you?"

"Yeah I know." She said already ready to leave. "Ai, let's go."

"Right." The Pinket nodded woth determination before she quickly joined her new companion and left.

-&-

"Ai we're about to walk into town you may want to hide your eyes." Kuroyami pointed out.

"Right sorry, Yami-chan." She blinked her eyes and they turned to a more natural blue. "Is... is Mitsu going to be okay?"

"As long as we are fast enough, yes." Kuroyami replied.

"I hope so... he's the first human I've ever met that hasn't tried to kill, or sell, me on sight." Ai looked down seeming upset. "And despite knowing I'm not fully human he told you he was worried about bringing me along, and not because I'm half demon, but because he was actually concerned about my safety.... He's the only man I've met that has treated me like an actual young girl and not a monster..."

"Yeah, I know, he's strange. When he found out about me although he was shocked, he didn't make a move to hurt me. He didn't even get violent until after I stole his soul..." Kuroyami added. "I'm not exactly sure what to make of him."

"His name means kindness, light, and loyalty..." Ai trailed off a smile gracing her lips. "Maybe that's well fitted for him, but who knows... I guess we'll find out eventually, right?"

"What do you mean?" Kuroyami asked.

"Well you seem like you have a plan of some sort..." Ai pointed out. "I don't know what it is, but by what you did for me, I'll make a judgment that it is good. So I guess me you and Mitsu will have quite a long time to get to know each other, right? I'm excited for this adventure, I've never been on one with someone else before."

"I'm taking that as you're going to stay then?" Kuroyami asked and couldn't help but give a small smile.

"I think I may just." Ai smiled brightly folding her hands behind her back as they walked.

-&-

"Well if it isn't Kuroyami." The shop owner greeted as she walked in the door. He was a big guy with a bald head and had tattoos covering most of his exposed skin. "Eh..? And why are you bringing little girls into my shop... she smells human..." he growled.

Ai cowered back hiding behind Kuroyami slightly.

"Cut the small talk Joe we'll only be here briefly." Kuroyami ignored his rudeness and pushed Ai behind her more. "We need the antidote to black goblin venom, you got any?"

"Maybe." He sneered rubbing his chin. "You got the money to pay for it?"

"Put it on my tab." She replied simply.

"You sure you already have a bit of debt on that tab. You know..." He smirked walking to her side to get a good glance at Ai again. He seemed to be noticing the wounds from the rope earlier on her wrists. "A little slave girl may just pay that all off."

Ai gasped quietly, grabbing Kuroyam's arm and looking to her desperately.

She gave the young girl a reassuring smile and then turned back to Joe with a glare. "I'm sure, charge it."

He let out an exasperated sigh. "Fine." He walked over to a shelf unlocked a box and started to search. "But you do know you'll eventually have to pay that off, right?" He walked back over to her giving her the vile of darkish liquid.

"Right." Kuroyami gave a sarcastic smile and then gently grabbed Ai's arm. "Pleasure doing business with ya!" She shouted as they hurried out the door.

-&-

"Please tell me he's still alive." Ai said as they rushed back into the cave.

"He's really weak, hardly breathing. Let's just hope you didn't come too late." Akihiro stated.

"Ai prop him up." Kuroyami ordered.

"Right." She said in response gently taking Mitsu's upper body in her arms and propping him up slightly.

Kuroyami then undid the vile's top and carefully placed it against his lips, slowly poring it in, making sure it didn't spill, till the contents in the bottle were gone.

Mitsu coughed slightly as it slid down his through he swallowed, but didn't open his eyes. He was however still breathing, it slowly becoming more regular.

"Well he took to it. That's a good sign, so now we wait." Akihiro, Ai, and Kuroyami sat on the ground around him hoping for the best.

-&-

It was a little while later, Mitsu was now back to breathing normally, and the color had returned to his face, but he still hadn't woken up.

Kuroyami was leaned back against a rock resting her eyes, Akihiro had gone back to making a weapon, and Ai was waiting patiently.

"Mm..." Mitsu suddenly crinkled his face slightly and shifted.

"Mitsu?!" Ai exclaimed with a big relieved smile, as his eyes opened. "Are you okay?"

The others stopped what they were doing and looked over, when his name was spoken.

He sat up slowly grabbing his head. "Yes, I think. I certainly feel a lot better."

"Glad to hear it. Just take things easy for today you should be feeling as good as new by tomorrow." Akihiro told him putting what he was working on down. "Now as requested, a fully updated sword capable of killing demons." He brought out Mitsu's sword which altered only slightly in appearance. The blade was a shinier silver, and the blue wrapping of the handle now secured blue fragments of a stone embedded into the material. He gently handed it to its rightful owner.

Mitsu grabbed it securely happy to have it back. When he did take it in his grip once again however, he felt slightly overwhelmed. A power emanated from it as soon as it made contact with him. His hair blew up slightly as a non tangible blue light flowed from the sword seemingly accepting it's wielder before disappearing making the sword's glow fade away once again. "Woah..."

"Now that is a sword." Ai widened her eyes curiously after watching the scene. "I've never seen anything like that before."

Meanwhile Akihiro was left surprised after what he had just watched her wandered over to Kuroyami who had stood from her spot. He spoke quietly to only her, watching Mitsu as he chatted with Ai. "I've never seen a weapon react that way to anyone... Accepting only one person to be able to use its power is almost unheard of. I see now why you asked me to make it like I did. Addmitably at first I was skeptical about using such rare materials, but now I see that as usual you were right... It's almost as if he's... meant for something. There certainly is something very special about that human..."

"I agree..." Kuroyami said quietly as she too looked ahead at Mitsu with a serious expression. She seemed just as surprisingly impressed, even though she herself had a hunch about him before, she didn't know she was correct about it. "Very special indeed."

-&-

By the time they'd gotten back to the house it was already late, so after introducing Ai to Abalon and setting up temporary sleeping arrangements for her on the couch, they all went to bed.

It was now late morning and Kuroyami was just waking up. She sat up as the sun shined through the glass balcony doors and she could hear the slight chattering of citizens and laughter of children from the town streets down below. She yawned, stretched, and then looked over to the other bed in the room. "Hm?" She tilted her head when she found it was empty. She then crawled out of bed.

She dressed and tied her hair up in the mirror before leaving the room and heading downstairs. Ai's blanket was folded neatly on the back of the couch her pillow rested on top, and a cup of tea was set out on the table. But no one was there...

"Ai wanted me to tell you that her and Mitsu went out to do some shopping." Abalon suddenly spoke from his perch on the wall. "She's such a nice young girl... I was honestly surprised when you brought her home last night."

Kuroyami sat down at her chair taking the teacup and sipping it. "Why's that? Do you really think of me so badly?"

"Of course not, it's just... she's a half demon..." He trailed off.

"So?" She asked giving him a small side glare. "Are you suggesting that I should have just kept letting her live alone on the streets or in the forest till she was sold off or killed."

"You know perfectly well that's not what I mean." He huffed slightly. "You just... have to make sure to be cautious. If people and demons find out about her they won't be happy with you, and I know you could care less what others think, but this could be dangerous, for you as well as Ai, so just... try to be careful."

She looked at him for a short silence before turning back to her cup and taking a sip. "I'm fully aware of that, do try not to worry so much."

Just then the door opened and Ai and Mitsu walked in with a few bags filled with groceries and necessities.

"Yami-chan you're awake!" Ai smiled when she saw her. She quickly put the few bags she was holding down in the kitchen she then ran out into the living room stretching her arms out to her sides. "Look at the new pretty dress Mitsu bought for me!"

It was a little white dress that had a red trim around the color and a little red bow just below it. There was also a larger red bow tied around the waist.

"Very pretty, you look like a little human girl." Kuroyami couldn't help but smile slightly.

Mitsu smiled at the two as he started to un-bag the groceries and put them away.

"Really?!" Ai's eyes lit up. She walked in front of the full length mirror and spun around a few times causing the skirt of the dress to twirl. She giggled at herself slightly.

"How old are you Ai?" Mitsu asked.

"Well about 72 years but in demon years I'm 16, almost 17." She answered folding her hands behind her back.

"Really I would have guessed younger than that." He replied blinking a few times.

"I know I seem really young." She pouted slightly. "But it's only because I'm so small. It's not my fault."

"Uh..." Mitsu twitched putting his hands up in front of him, not meaning to upset her. "I never said that it was." He chuckled nervously.

"Well for a demon you're still pretty young." Kuroyami pointed out. She stood up and walked over to Ai ruffling the hair on top of her head. "You've got to be just barley out of your ears still."

"Ears?" Mitsu asked in general confusion.

"You don't know?"Ai asked in confusion. "When they're young enough to be considered children demons have animal ears of some sort. Eventually they grow out of them and get normal human looking ones instead. So yes I am out of my ears because I am not a child." She crossed her arms stubbornly.

"No of course you aren't." Kuroyami gave a sarcastic chuckle. "Now Mitsu what are you waiting for? Make us some breakfast."

"Fine." He grumbled his expression falling to a frown. He then lowered his voice. "Could at least ask nicely..."

"Make sure you eat a good amount Ai." Kuroyami flashed her a small smile. "Starting today, we have a pretty big adventure to go on."

Hey guys I hope you like the new part. Awe isn't it cute how Kuroyami has a soft spot for Ai, even though she's a complete b*tch to everyone else XD. I hope you are enjoying this so far and I hope you like Ai. I know it may be a little boring now, but there will be a bit more action in the next part. Vote and comment, bye!
