Kritanta

Samael stumbles up the step, riling heavily on his right leg and upper body strength to get up the stairs. He knew it was a losing battle. She was wounded. Kritanta was so close. And he would never make it out of this alive.

Distracted by his thoughts, his right leg didn't fully make a step and he fell down on the stairs. Not down the stairs, but just in the lair of stairs he was currently on.

Kritanta noticed and raced toward the sound.
Samael was at the roof's door when she saw him. Racing against the clock, she ran after him and opened the two roof doors to witness a spectacle. Something that you shouldn't watch, but can't take your eyes off.

Kritanta slowly walked to the young man on the edge of the roof, his arms stretched wide like Jesus on the cross. Blood led the way to him like a red carpet, staining the concrete roof.

"What are you doing?" Kritanta whispered a few meters away from him. His back was facing her and he didn't turn around.

"What does it look like?" Samael said. His emotions were empty and unfeeling. Impassive. Someone who had lost all hope in such a short time. He had accept his fate and death with it.

"Too long. This little game we play."

"This isn't a game, idiot! Get off of there now," Kritanta boomed, angry seeping out of her like the rain that was hitting both of them. She wasn't going to let this happen. Not again.

Kritanta stepped forward. Samael moved his broken leg.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you."

"Well, guess what?" Samael said, turning his head around to project his words at her.  "Life is unfair and you are not me. You are not in my position. Someone who is already dead. That's what we do to make sure people are already good as dead. We kill them. We hide their bodies. We hide ourselves. Life is unfair. You just got lucky."

"Lucky? Lucky?" Kritanta chuckled at the word. "You think I'm fucking lucky!? Don't forget we are on the same boat. We both are assassins, we both have to kill and hide. We both were forced into this! You are the lucky one since you didn't have to see your own daughter commit suicide by jumping off the ducking roof!" Kritanta breath heavily, the emotions had just taken control of her and she had spoken something secret.

Boots hit the concrete and she is engulfed in a hug. "I'm sorry."

The rain eased up on the bullet's harshness. The drops slowly became fewer and fewer until the storm was just a light shower. The sun had shown up and hit the two assassins lifting up their world.

"Life isn't unfair," Kritanta said. "It's just one person."

"Mason Verger," they both said looking at each other. A smile on each other's face as they thought of a plan.
