Tim Burling: "I'm sorry to announce this. While on an expedition yesterday to a new island, me and Zach found...the crashed remains of the Pilgrim."

Lewis Crauly: "What?"

Sarah Wu: "No. This can't be happening."

Tim Burling: "There really isn't much else to say, I mean, the Pilgrim is gone. There's no one coming to rescue us. TransEarth and the Federation won't be able to hear about this in years. There's no rescue coming. I'm sorry guys."

*Footsteps*

Alison Walker: "It is with the loss of the Pilgrim that we must assume that the rest of the survivors are dead. We have not picked up any signals other than that of the now downed Pilgrim. There would be a memorial hosted for the survivors tomorrow on Crash Island. You are dismissed."

Alison Walker: "It is with a heavy heart that I admit to all two thousand other people, both crew and passenger, be dead. May this monument stand in their memory."

*Footsteps*

Ryan Degel: "I can't believe the Pilgrim is gone. I really started to think that signal we keep getting was a sign of rescue."

Kathrine Ediff: "Some things happen out of karma I guess."

Ryan Degel: "What?"

Kathrine Ediff: "Nothing. Did you lose anyone special on the ship?"

Ryan Degel: "No. Did you?"

Kathrine Ediff: "I came alone."

Ryan Degel: "Now that the ship is gone, I guess it becomes a question of, what do we do now?"

Kathrine Ediff: "I don't know what to do."

Ryan Degel: "What were you planning to do when we got to Calypso?"

Kathrine Ediff: "I don't know that either."

*Footsteps*

Ryan Degel: "Do you think we'll ever get rescued? By anyone else, I mean."

Kathrine Ediff: "No, I don't think so."

Zachary Vasiliev: "I still don't understand how this all happened. How did the Pilgrim crash?"

Alison Walker: "What failed to bring it down the first time I suppose. Maybe the engine decided to give up and blow up."

Zachary Vasiliev: "When though? How did the rescue signal persist for so long? If the Pilgrim crashed, we would have noticed. Especially if it crashed so close to us."

Ryan Degel: "The atmosphere. It's always the damn atmosphere. Must have a property that traps radio signals and keeps them echoing."

Alison Walker: "How likely do you think that is?"

Ryan Degel: "I don't know really. It's been responsible for the other weird shit happening on the planet.

Zachary Vasiliev: "If the atmosphere can do that, it can probably disguise a crash as a comet or something. The mettaleum powered warp drive would burn red in a thick atmosphere like this."

Ryan Degel: "Oh, shoot. I just remembered something."

Alison Walker: "What is it?"

Ryan Degel: "On the sunrise of our first day, me and Kathrine saw a red comet crash relatively close to us."

Zachary Vasiliev: "Well, shit. I believe our fates were sealed before the first twenty-four hours."

Alison Walker: "It's almost ominous how much the fate of the Pilgrim was foreshadowed."

Ryan Degel: "Could've been worse. We might have been on that ship."

Sarah Wu: "I just need to readjust the springs here."

Alison Walker: "Are you okay? You usually work faster than this."

Sarah Wu: "Oh, really? I'll work faster then."

Alison Walker: "No, no, no. Is something wrong? You look a bit distressed."

Sarah Wu: "No, no. Nothing is wrong."

Alison Walker: "If this is about the Pilgrim-"

Sarah Wu: "The Pilgrim is fine."

Alison Walker: "What?"

Sarah Wu: "Yes, it's fine. I just got a new transmission from the ship. I even recorded it. Listen."

Bailey Johnson: "Capt..hit...or..ize...re..cue...tea..so...wait."

Alison Walker: "That's the same message we keep getting. I talked about this with the others. Turns out it's just a sort of radio echo effect in the atmosphere."

Sarah Wu: "No, no. If you listen very closely, you c-can hear it's a different speaker. L-listen again."

Bailey Johnson: "Capt..hit...or..ize...re..cue...tea..so...wait."

Alison Walker: "No. Sorry Sarah, it's the same message. Even the computer recognizes it as the same speaker."

Sarah Wu: "N-no. If y-you listen a-again you can hear s-subtle-"

Alison Walker: "No, Sarah. There's no new messages coming. The Pilgrim is gone. I'm sorry."

Sarah Wu: *Weeping* "N-no. P-please d-don't let it be t-t-true."

Alison Walker: "Hold on, let me get a tissue."

Sarah Wu: "Sorry."

Alison Walker: "There's nothing for you to be sorry about."

Sarah Wu: "I mean, I realize I've been a bitch, pushing everyone to prioritize rescue. And i-it had all been for n-nothing."

Alison Walker: "Everyone prioritizes being saved. And no one could have predicted that the Pilgrim had been down this whole time. Especially with deceitful tricks by the atmosphere. This is what we signed up for when going to Calypso. But we all panic."

Sarah Wu: "I remember why I left to go to Calypso. I wanted to start a new life, just like everyone else, to leave the terrible world of Io. I didn't bring any of my family or friends, I just went and left without telling anyone. For months while I was on that ship, I wondered if any of them were going to catch up to me. Guess I don't have to anymore. That's karma."

Alison Walker: "This isn't a planet of punishment Sarah. You could still build a new life here."

Sarah Wu: "This isn't the paradise I dreamt of as a child."

Alison Walker: "Is it better than a volcano world?"

Sarah Wu: "Yes, but I still didn't bring my family or friends with me."

Alison Walker: "You got us. We've been with you for a month now."

Sarah Wu: "I mean, I had the intention of leaving them on Io..!"

Alison Walker: "You're going to have to forgive yourself on that one. At least you didn't bring them to die on the Pilgrim."

Lewis Crauly: "Hey Kathrine."

Kathrine Ediff: "Hey."

Lewis Crauly: "Feeling down?"

Kathrine Ediff: "Isn't everyone?"

Lewis Crauly: "Do you want to talk about anything?"

Kathrine Ediff: "Not really."

Lewis Crauly: "We'll be stuck here for a while. We might as well know about each other. You already know about me, but I barely know anything about where you came from."

Kathrine Ediff: "I don't feel like talking about anything right now."

Lewis Crauly: "Let's start with some questions then. How do you feel after the crash?"

Kathrine Ediff: "Umm. Panicked. Like everyone else."

Lewis Crauly: "Great. Now, how did you feel after hearing news that the Pilgrim might rescue us?"

Kathrine Ediff: "Relieved?"

Lewis Crauly: "How did you feel when we discovered that the Pilgrim is gone?"

Kathrine Ediff: "Lewis, what's the point in all this? There is no point."

Lewis Crauly: "You're right. Your answers are too vague. I'm going to ask a different question."

Kathrine Ediff: "No, I meant-"

Lewis Crauly: "Why did you want to go to Calypso?"

Kathrine Ediff: "Why do want to know so much about me all of a sudden?"

Lewis Crauly: "I meant what I meant. I barely got to know you during the six months before the Pilgrim. Now answer the question please."

Kathrine Ediff: "To start a new life. Like everyone else that goes on colony ships."

Lewis Crauly: "People don't just go and start a new life without reason."

Kathrine Ediff: "So you already know it's a sensitive subject then."

Lewis Crauly: "I left because Mars was undergoing a political crisis. My friends and family were split on the issue. Many Martians emigrated out and some even took it as an excuse to join the Pilgrim Interstellar Colonization Program. Why did you move out?"

Kathrine Ediff: "I, umm.."

Lewis Crauly: "Was it a personal matter? Did something happen to your family or friend that made you want to move away?"

Kathrine Ediff: "I don't want to talk about this anymore."

Lewis Crauly: "Hold on. You didn't even answer my questi-"

Kathrine Ediff: "I said leave me alo-"

Alison Walker: "You can feel it right? This group is getting more and more unhinged. It feels like you're the only one who has not fallen in despair."

Zachary Vasiliev: "I know what you're talking about. I haven't even talked to Tim in the past week. Everyone is down."

Alison Walker: "Understandably so. Do you know how to bring the mood back up?"

Zachary Vasiliev: "I'm not experienced with these sorts of things."

Alison Walker: "Well, what do you think we should do to help right now?"

Zachary Vasiliev: "Haven't really thought about it much to be honest. I guess my strategy was just to let it burn out. I mean, that's what I would do."

Alison Walker: "I don't think we can rely on that. We have to get their spirits up, or else someone might do something rash."

Zachary Vasiliev: "Woah, woah! Tim!"

Tim Burling: "What?"

Zachary Vasiliev: "Calm down! What's all this about?"

Tim Burling: "Umm, throwing things around and-"

Zachary Vasiliev: "I know you're frustrated, but we need to keep everything orderly here."

Tim Burling: "I know. Sorry about the mess."

Zachary Vasiliev: "We all need a place to take our anger, but please don't take it out on a space shelter. Hey, what's this?"

Tim Burling: "That's none of your business."

Zachary Vasiliev: "You've been quite isolationist lately. You need someone to talk to or you might do something more severe than beating up a room."

Tim Burling: "Alright. This is my wife, those are my two children."

Zachary Vasiliev: "Oh, you have a family. Were they on the Pilgrim?"

Tim Burling: "No. They were on the sister ship, Pioneer. As far as I know, it hasn't crashed. It's still on it's way to Calypso."

Zachary Vasiliev: "Why would they be on the sister ship? Wouldn't you be together?"

Tim Burling: "We have a policy that goes, 'Father goes first to test the waters'. It was made by my son. He was afraid of swimming."

Zachary Vasiliev: "This is why you're so mad. Because you were afraid you can never see them again?"

Tim Burling: "It's not a fear anymore. Pioneer always trails two lightyears behind Pilgrim. They don't know we crashed. They don't even know where we are."

Zachary Vasiliev: "Well, maybe one day, as unlikely as it would seem, you would get to see them again."

Tim Burling: "No, The odds are astronomical. Impossible even."

Zachary Vasiliev: "Well, miracles do happen. Maybe-"

Tim Burling: "Get out."

Zachary Vasiliev: "But-"

Tim Burling: "I said get out."

Zachary Vasiliev: "Hey, hey. No need to pus-"

Ryan Degel: "Hey I was wondering if- woah woah woah woah, hold it!"

*Thud*

Ryan Degel: "What was that about?"

Kathrine Ediff: "Well, umm-"

Ryan Degel: "Okay. First off, were you planning to shoot yourself? Second, where did you even get a pistol?"

Kathrine Ediff: "I found one in storage."

Ryan Degel: "But why were you planning to shoot yourself?"

Kathrine Ediff: "I, umm-"

Ryan Degel: "C'mon. Answer me."

Kathrine Ediff: "Look, Ryan. There's nothing left. I lost everything. We all lost everything."

Ryan Degel: "We all gave up everything when we left on the Pilgrim to start a new life. Why do you think this is any different? Please don't be silent. You really need someone to talk too."

Kathrine Ediff: "I regret going on that ship. I miss home too much. When you said we had a chance to go back to our homeworld when rescued, I thought it was a chance to undo my rash decision to go."

Ryan Degel: "Why did you decide to leave in the first place?"

Kathrine Ediff: "Something happened. And I didn't want to stay anymore."

Ryan Degel: "What happened? Actually, you don't have to answer that if you don't want to. What did you mean by, 'there's nothing left'?"

Kathrine Ediff: "We were all looking forward to rescue. Now it's not coming. It's like we're the last humans in the world. There's simply nothing left to look forward to."

Ryan Degel: "Miracles happen."

Kathrine Ediff: "Unlikely. Do you want to hear what happened on my homeworld?"

Ryan Degel: "If you want to tell, yes."

Kathrine Ediff: "I was born on Earth. They say as the capital of the Federation, it's the most prosperous planet. My life was not so. My family was terrible, my schoolmates were terrible. But one day I met a friend. She made my life on Earth so much better when moving into adulthood. But one day, she died in a car crash. One small mechanical failure in the AI's brakes. After that, I just wanted to leave. I saw the chance and took it without thinking. I could've kept living on Earth. Repaired past relationships, as there were many opportunities I now recognize. There was still a whole planet to live with. And I only realized that after the Pilgrim took off. A small tragedy that caused me to leave behind an entire life. But it was no reason to leave."

Ryan Degel: "There's this one story I always wanted to share. I once had a sick friend. He was dying on a planet I was nowhere near. When he died without me by his side, I never forgave myself. And one day, another said to me, 'There will be times where you may not say goodbye. Those are the times where you must forgive yourself.'"

Kathrine Ediff: "Hey, do you remember that red comet at sunrise of the second day?"

Ryan Degel: "Yeah. We know that was actually the Pilgrim."

Kathrine Ediff: "Do you want to know what my wish was?"

Ryan Degel: "What was it?"

Kathrine Ediff: "I wished for all of it to be a dream. Getting on the Pilgrim. I wanted to wake up in my own bed at home. It's ironic how the comet actually sealed the deal. Now I can't be on Calypso or Earth. This planet is punishment for my foolishness."

Ryan Degel: "Not all hope is lost. You can do here what you originally planned to do on Calypso."

Kathrine Ediff: "I had nothing planned for Calypso."

Ryan Degel: "You'll think of something. Then you'll be able to live on this planet in peace."

Zachary Vasiliev: "What are you doing here?"

Alison Walker: "I came out here to ask you the same thing. You better not be thinking about leaving us."

Zachary Vasiliev: "No no no. I was just checking the safety mechanisms on Pegasus Two."

Alison Walker: "You have the launch mechanisms set up."

Zachary Vasiliev: "Fine. I was getting tired of this depressed bunch. I wanted to go investigate the island with the crash."

Alison Walker: "You can't just leave us at this time. Maybe later, but not now."

Zachary Vasiliev: "Okay. But it's not like anything interesting is going to happen soon."

*Gun click*

Tim Burling: "Don't move."

Zachary Vasiliev: "Woah woah, Tim. If this is about something I said, I'm sorry."

Tim Burling: "Shut your mouth."

*Footsteps*

Zachary Vasiliev: "N-no need to come closer. Wait, what are you doing? You better not be planning to shoot Pegasus Two with a gun, because she's just a plane."

Tim Burling: "I lost everything I cared about in the crash. And I have no hope in getting them back."

Zachary Vasiliev: "I'm very sorry about your family, Tim, but there's no need to take it out on us or a plane."

Alison Walker: "Shut up. Tim, what is your plan?"

Tim Burling: "Nothing waiting for me up there. So, I must go deeper."

Zachary Vasiliev: "Wait, what?"

*Mechanical firing*

Zachary Vasiliev: "Holy shit! Tim!"

*Running*

Ryan Degel: "I saw you guys out here. What happened?"

Alison Walker: "Well, he just took a Sky Wing and left. At one point he had us at gunpoint."

Ryan Degel: "Oh, jeez. Where is he now?"

Zachary Vasiliev: "He should be on his way to the island below this on-"

*Animalistic noise*

Alison Walker: "Oh no."

Zachary Vasiliev: "Tim! No, Tim! You're not supposed to do that! Turn to the left Tim!"

Alison Walker: "He can't hear you."

*Animalistic noise*

Ryan Degel: "Did you see where he went?"

Zachary Vasiliev: "There he is! No wait, he's there! Actually, I..think he was eaten."

Alison Walker: "I can't see him either."

Ryan Degel: "Neither can I."

Zachary Vasiliev: "Guys. I think we just lost Tim."
