The young Trogruta gazed stubbornly at the white wall of the training hall, blocking out the burning gaze of the jedi knight who was watching her so intently. Without her or the younglings standing next to her being able to prepare themselves, their surroundings changed and briefly the young woman stood in shock in the face of the familiar situation. Only through her years of training on the battlefield was she able to pull herself together and not let anything show. She was on the beach in front of the jungle that looked so similar to the island where she had been abandoned as fair game that she almost panicked, but her instincts took over so quickly that she had no choice but to act.
"Run!!!" she yelled to the other younglings before charging toward the jungle herself.
Not a moment too late as the shelling from above followed immediately. Only a few more meters which she zigzagged back and forth, blocking out the sheen of a hit youngling who had hesitated too long. Finally the trogruta reached the first trees and took cover behind one of them. The remaining three younglings now also arrived panting in the jungle only the Twi'lek had not made it. She had to keep reminding herself that this was only a simulation and not reality.
Despite the mess she was now in she had to grin. Of course she had known that Master Skywalker would think of a test that would be difficult to pass, but for a youngling this test was almost impossible. She should have known that he would refuse to accept a new padawan, but perhaps she could change his mind.
Unobtrusively, she beckoned the three younglings to follow her unobtrusively. I stopped in a clearing and looked around briefly. Fortunately, she knew where she was and could help the younglings a little.
The human looked at her through the slits of his metal mask in confusion, but the Anzati and the Miraluka looked rather suspicious. "I think we should band togethern that way we'll have a better chance of surviving here and passing the test", the Trogruta said, and the Anzati narrowed his red eyes as if he saw her as a threat. "How do we know you won't walk us into a trap then? And who are you anyway, I've never seen you in the temple before." The trogruta swallowed her doubts and remained confident. Those in front of her were just children, even if the Anzati was still considered a child until 100, so he was probably even older than her. "My name is Ash and I was trained in a different group than you." Before the Anzati could say anything after all the human stepped forward and held out his hand to the Trogruta. "I'm Barry and I think you're right together we have a better chance besides we don't know what the test is yet. It doesn't have to mean we have to kill each other jedi don't do that." The Trogruta clearly heard the smile from Barry's voice and took his outstretched hand and shook it briefly. Then the Miraluka stepped forward as well, "I'm Tanya, I'm in. Do you know where we can find a place to hide? You seem to be no stranger to all this." Of course she had sensed Ash recognizing this situation even if she was blind she could sense more than most jedi. An annoyed snort spared a reply. "Alright I'm in too, my name is Harvey so where are we going?" the Anzati asked annoyed. "Follow me." With a force jump I landed on a branch and used the force to catapult myself from one branch to the next.
After several minutes we finally arrived where I wanted to go and sure enough the cave was exactly where it should be, a perfect likeness.
Unbeknownst to the other younglings, Ash was holding his aching shoulder which still hadn't healed after a freak lightsaber fight.
The cave was overgrown with all kinds of green stuff but you could walk through it and each of us found a place. "So, Ash, why are you here wanting to become Master Skywalker's Padawan? The way I see it, you're already too old to be a youngling." Harvey was still suspicious, and Ash immediately realized that he would be her greatest opponent in this simulation.
She sighed and conceded defeat. "I used to be a Padawan, but now I'm not and I need a new master," was all she said and apparently the other younglings couldn't think of anything else to say so they lay down for the time being while the artificial sky simulated a dark firmament.
