Chapter 2 {Proving Honor}

"You ready?" Farkas asked in his deep voice. "As i'll ever be." Katundra replied. So they opened the door and walked in. Farkas looked around, instinct hitting him, he put out his arm and said "Looks like someone's been here recently, tread lightly. Don't wanna carry you back to Jorrvaskr on my back." Katundra nodded, and watched carefully where she stepped. She stopped every now and then, to check old urns for gold. She nearly tripped over a chest in the main room.

Katundra got out her lock picks, and began working, Farkas watched closely. She opened it in one try, and found steel armor! "Whoa!" She exclaimed, pulling out everything of value. "You mind?" She asked, looking at Farkas, he turned around quickly while Katundra changed armor. She stuffed the old leather armor in her pack, and they kept walking through the Cairn. "That armor suits you." Farkas said with a smile. "Thanks" Katundra replied.

"So, Kodlack didn't exactly give me any details as to what we're looking for?" Katundra said, striking up a conversation. "The fragments of Wuuthrod, they were stolen from us." He explained, "What's Wuuthrod?" She asked, "The great axe of Ysgramor. He led the first humans to Skyrim, and he's very important in the history of the Companions." He told her. Katundra nodded, and stopped when she heard a noise.

"Shh, did you hear that?" She asked, pulling out her Imperial sword and iron battleaxe. Farkas unsheathed his greatsword, and readied himself for battle. Two Drauger came running from one of the halls, Farkas took the first swing at one, decapitating it in the process. Katundra killed the other one with two hits to it's chest. She looted the bodies, and they kept moving. They kept roaming the halls, looting already dead Drauger, and killing the live ones.

They came to a room with spiders, Katundra ran at them, and killed most of them. She heard a yell from Farkas, "Get it off me!" He shrieked, Katundra stabbed it through the back, and flung it away from Farkas. He avoided eye contact with her, and just said, "Let's...keep moving." And so they did. They walked into a room with a few smaller rooms in the walls, Katundra went into one and grabbed the potions. She then pulled a lever, and it closed a gate, blocking her way out of the small room.

Farkas walked over, clearly fighting back a laugh. "Now look what you've gotten yourself into. Don't worry, i'll get you out." He said, then they heard voices, He turned around quickly and saw at least five people surrounding him. "Time to die Companion." "Which one is that?" "Doesn't matter, he wears their armor, so they must die." They chattered to each other while closing in. "Killing you will make a great story" One said, "Too bad you won't be alive to tell it!" He remarked, and he armor began falling off, and jet black hair grew on every inch of his body. His arms grew longer, he grew a muzzle, and claws.

Farkas had transformed into a werewolf. Katundra took a step back, and watched in horror as Farkas ripped every single one of those bandits, or whatever they were, to death. Blood everywhere, a few limbs where they shouldn't be. After he killed them all, he ran off, and the gate opened, and he walked back in the room, only in some cheap pants. Blood, that wasn't his own, splattered on his chest. Katundra slowly stepped out of the room, and looked around. She looked back at Farkas. "Hope i didn't scare ya." He said, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Honestly, i've never been so scared in all my life, but...that was amazing!" She said, Farkas smiled a bit. "What was that?" She asked, "Well, the members of the Circle, Koclack, Skjor, Aela, Vilkas and I, we have beasts blood. It allows us to transform into a werewolf when we want." He told her. "Wow." Was all she could reply with. Farkas turned around to put back on his armor, Katundra noticed a few cuts on his back, "Wait! Your hurt!" She yelled, "It'll heal, the beasts blood helps us heal faster." Farkas explained, "No. We're not going anywhere until you let me fix those cuts up." She said sternly.

Farkas groaned annoyed. "Fine. But make it quick." He said, he sat on the floor, and Katundra knelt behind him, and used her healing spell, and began fixing the wounds. She heard him sigh, and she could feel him shutter at her touch. She saw all the other scars on his back, and arms. She snapped out of her thoughts and stood up, and handed him his armor. He got dressed and they got back to the job.

Finally, they got to the last room. They could see the fragments of Wuuthrod, laying on a table. "There they are!" She yelled, "Wait!" Farkas held her back, he pointed to the casket like tombs in the corners. At least ten Druager deathlords burst out of them, and the fight began.

Farkas and Katundra stood back to back, killing the Drauger left and right. "Watch out!" Katundra yelled, and decapitated the Drauger that was about to stab Farkas, but while she was trying to save his life, she didn't watch out for her own. She was struck by one of the deathlords, just a sword to the arm, but still. "I'm gonna crush you like a bug!" Farkas yelled as he killed that same Drauger. Katundra used a healing spell, and half-fast fixed her wound, and returned to the fight.

After all the Drauger Deathlords were dead, they grabbed the fragments of Wuuthrod, and looted what they could, then left. And began walking back to Whiterun. While they were walking, Katundra heard a growl like grumble. She stopped and unsheathed her weapons, "What was that?" She asked, "That was the rare werebear of Whiterun. It prowls these parts looking for anyone to kill, and not for food, but for sport!" He said sarcastically. "Really?" Kayundra asked sounding terrified. "No, not really! That was my stomach, haven't eaten in a few hours." He said laughing. "Your an ass, y'know that?" Katundra said, punching his arm.

Farkas laughed and walked over to a river, he hopped in, and grabbed a few fish. Katundta started the fire, and they cooked the fish, and ate them. "Your a good cook!" Katundra exclaimed. Farkas smiled, "Thanks. I used to get in trouble a lot when i was a whelp, so Kodlack made me work in the kitchens with Tilma." He told her, She nodded and laughed. "Better get moving before they think we've been killed." Farkas stated, adn so they put out the fire, and got back to the walk.

They reached Jorrvaskr only an hour later. Katundra and Farkas went down to Kodlacks room, and gave him the fragments of Wuuthrod. "You have done an excellent job, thank you." Kodlack said, She nodded and smiled. Looking back at Farkas, who smirked and nodded. "Katundra...i want you to return in a few hours. That is all i will say." He said, and left the room. "Does that mean i will become a Companion?" She asked Farkas excitedly. "Dunno, have to wait and see. Go get some rest." He winked at her, and went to find his brother.

Katundra walked into the common room, and chose a bed, and laid down. She drifted off to sleep.

After a couple hours rest she woke and went to the mead hall, so one was there. She walked out back to the training yard, everyone was standing there. She walked to the Circle members. Farkas gave her a smile and turned to Kodlack.

"Brothers and Sisters of the Circle, today we welcome a new member into our mortal fold. This woman has endured, has challenged and has showed her valor. Who will speak for her?"               "I stand witness for the courage of the soul before us."                                                                                   "Would you raise your shield in her defense?"                                                                                                         "I would stand at her back, that the world might never overtake us."                                                           "And would you raise your sword in her honor?"                                                                                                     "It stands ready to meet the blood of her foes."                                                                                                       "And would you raise a mug in her name?"                                                                                                               "I would lead the song in triumph as our mead hall reveled in her stores."                                                  "Then this judgement of the Circle is complete. Her heart beats with fury and courage that have united the Companions since days of Distant Summers. Let it beat with ours, so the mountains may echo and our enemies may tremble at the call."

"It shall be so."               Farkas' eyes stayed locked with Katundra's throughout his entire speech.

Everyone began leaving. Farkas stood on the steps, waiting to congratulate you. Kodlack came over to Katundra. "Well, girl, your one of us now. I trust you won't disapoint." He said with a smile. "I promise you, i will do the best i can." Katundra said. Kodlack nodded and patted her shoulder, and went in to join the party.

Katundra walked to Farkas, "Congratulations Kat." He said with a smirk, "Thanks, spider boy." She said. "Did you mean it?" She asked, locking eyes with him, he knew what she meant, "Every word." He said simply, and led her inside. They drank mead until the early hours, and then passed out. Katundra had never been happier, to be in a place she belonged.
