Skylox ~ The Sky Is The Limit

(Hey, I decided to make a more 'easy-going' Skylox story. Sorry if I don't update some stories as quickly as others, sometimes I just decide to work on one story for a while. Usually when I feel like writing like I do now. Anyways, enjoy!)

In this story Sky is 20 and Deadlox is 18

Prologue

"I don't even know why I loved you!" A man in black shades with dark, chocolate brown curly hair yelled at a slightly smaller man. He looked hurt, but still angry. His flipped his lighter brown hair, which covered the left side of his face, and threw his arms back.

"Well obviously you don't anymore!" He screamed back, his blue cape dirtied and torn, along with his pants and shirt. The taller one gritted his teeth and turned away, an identical cape to the younger's following behind him as he stormed off.

"Don't ever talk to me again!" He called over his shoulder, his pace quickening.

"Fine!" The younger shouted. "I fucking hate you!" He then turned and ran off into the forest behind him.

Deadlox shot up in his bed, gasping for breath. Sweat rolled down his face, and he looked around, expecting trees and grass to surround him, but instead he found only his room. He breathed a sigh of relief and slung his feet over the edge of his bed. Standing up, he lazily out his shirt on and opened his oak wood door to head downstairs for breakfast.

Upon reaching the kitchen, he reached up into the cabinet and pulled out a box of cereal. Absent-mindedly, he picked up the gallon of milk and poured it into the bowl which held his cereal.

Deadlox carried his bowl into the living room and sat down in the rocking chair and turned on the tv, though he hardly watched it. He was too busy thinking about his dream.

Recently, Deadlox had realized he had feelings for his old friend Sky. Sky was a man with dark brown curly hair, lightly tanned skin, and the most amazing golden-hazel eyes. Though, sadly for Deadlox, he usually hid them under his black shades that he refused to take off unless he was sleeping or showering. He normally wore the same attire: a black and gray t-shirt, light gray pants, black shoes, black gloves with white lining, and a golden necklace with a deep purple amethyst in the center. On some occasions, he wore a sky-blue cape decorated with a yellow pickaxe. Deadlox loved this, as it went perfectly with his structure.

Deadlox on the other hand, had lighter brown hair that covered the left side of his face. He had deep crimson eyes, normally wore his signature black and green headphones, a white, v-neck t-shirt with black lining on the sleeves, neck, and bottom, light gray pants, and black and purple shoes. Naturally, since they were best friends, Deadlox had the same blue cape, though rarely wore it.

He poked at the cereal he held in his hand absently, disturbed by his dream. Even though Deadlox liked- no, loved - Sky, he had never once given the slightest hint that he felt this way. He had no idea how he would react, and thus he was afraid of his opinion on said topic. Though to himself, Deadlox admitted he was bisexual in a late-night thinking session. Many times he had thought up scenarios of him admitting his feelings to Sky, but every time he could never find the right words. Every scenario turned out wrong, ending in Deadlox either bailing out or Sky getting upset with him.

Now, none of his friends knew that he was bisexual. But even though they didn't know for sure about it, they had noticed some glances Deadlox had given Sky when they were out somewhere hanging out. He was sure they had their suspicions, but all he'd have to do is flirt with a girl to throw them off. Often times Deadlox thought about what would happen if everyone in their little clique found out. Normally people would wrinkle their nose at the idea, but is gender really that big of a determining factor? If everyone tells you to listen to your heart, then why shouldn't he follow his heart, which was telling him that he truly loved Sky?

Sighing, Deadlox quickly finished his cereal and dropped it in the sink. Walking back up the stairs leading to his room, he considered inviting Sky to his house for a stay over. It would be the perfect time to tell him of his true feelings...

Deadlox sat at the desk near his bedroom window, staring outside while toying with a pencil, running it between his fingers. Eventually, he made up his mind. Reaching for his cell phone, he pulled up Sky's contact and texted him.

"Hey, Sky?" He typed with shaky hands. Finally, after long months of keeping it all bottled up inside, he was finally going to confess. He set his phone down and waited for a reply, though it didn't come as soon as he'd liked. He went back to staring out at the rainy morning, almost not noticing the notification sound from his phone.

Excitedly, he grabbed his phone and read the message that his friend typed. "Yeah, what's up?" Deadlox's fingers did a small dance while he decided on the perfect way to arrange the letters on the screen so that it didn't seem weird to Sky.

"Would you like to come over for the night?" Deadlox ran a hand through his chocolate brown hair as he waited nervously for an answer. What if he said no? What if he thought he was weird for wanting him to come over? What if-

Deadlox's worried thoughts were cut off by another notification noise from his phone. Hesitantly, he picked it up and read the words displayed on the screen.

"Sure! Let me grab my stuff and I'll be over soon!" Deadlox nearly leaped out of his seat in happiness. Not only was the thought of them possibly being together maybe becoming a reality, but the fact that he hadn't seen Sky in forever made him positively excited.

Suddenly, another noise sounded off from his phone, and he read the message in dismay.

"Actually, mind if Fluffy and the others come over too? We'd have a lot of fun if it's not too much trouble!" Deadlox wondered what he should say. Would it sound rude if he said no? But if he said yes, how would he confess to Sky? He had been planning this moment for months, and now that it was finally happening, he couldn't do it. How the hell was he supposed to tell someone he loved them when there were about five other people in the room? Not to mention that they'd probably think he was weird, considering that bisexuality isn't something people think is 'normal.' He was already scared of Sky's reaction, how would he be able to predict five other individuals' reactions?

With a long sigh, he decided on his response. "Sure, that'd be fun!"

"Great! See you all in a while!" Deadlox set down his phone and slumped down in the chair. Well, his only option was to make the most of it. Maybe he'd somehow find time alone with Sky. Though he couldn't shake off the feeling of dread about all the reactions. Would they not want to talk to him anymore if they found out he confessed his love to Sky? A man, whom just went through a mutual break-up with a woman not two to three months ago?

Dear Notch, what have I gotten myself into?
