Chapter 24__Invincible

Metahumans were running rampant all over the city.

Singh got hurt, so Joe put him in the back of a police car to protect him, though the metahumans tried to break in from outside.

Barry, suited up, zoomed around a group of metas to pull them away from the car.

I was also suited up, using fire to push the rest of the metas away from the car.

We dealt with every meta outside the precinct, but there were many more out there.

Some people were calling it the Metapocalypse. The days when Central City were overrun by an army with powers beyond imagination.

While Barry and I were taking care of the metas in the streets and in the skies, we knew that Hunter and Natalia would be watching us.

~

Barry and I walked into STAR Labs, wearing normal clothes.

"We usually take these guys down one at a time, not a hundred at a time," Barry told me.

"And yet, you don't seem overwhelmed," I told him.

"I know we can do it," Barry told me.

"I don't know about you, but I'm exhausted," I told him.

Barry chuckled. "Right, yeah. After we finish this, maybe we can take some time off."

I smiled. "Yeah? Time off of what? Work? Heroism? Worry?"

"I was thinking about work and worry," Barry answered. "Heroism is kind of a full time job."

I chuckled. "Yeah."

Cisco walked toward us. "Guys, you have to come see this."

Cisco led us into the Cortex.

"Cisco, what are you..." I trailed off.

"Look who's here," Iris told us.

We saw Quinn sitting in a chair, where Caitlin was checking up on her. Harrison, Iris and Henry stood nearby.

Barry and I were shocked.

"Quinn?" Barry asked.

"She's in shock," Caitlin told us. "A little dehydrated and malnourished, but she'll be fine."

Quinn nodded. "I'm okay." She looked at me. "You're healed."

"So are you," I told her.

"What happened?" Barry asked. "How did you get away?"

Quinn showed us fire flickering from her fingertips. "When you got your powers back, so did I." We were even more surprised. "Natalia was burning me when I got hit by the dark matter."

"So, your stepsister took your powers away on Earth 2 and unintentionally gave them back to you here on Earth 1," Cisco told her. "Does anyone else find that ironic?"

I looked at Quinn. "Barry and I both fought Zoom and Phoenix. There's no way that you could've gotten out on your own."

"You're right," Quinn told us. "I didn't. While Nat was rallying the metas from Earth 2, Hunter let me go. I tried to get him to let me go since Earth 2, and I didn't think he would, but he did." She looked at Barry and Vera. "They told me you were dead."

"We're not," Barry told her. "We're right here. We're all here. Together."

Quinn nodded, breathing shakily.

"Tate, Natalia's not here," Harrison told her. "You're safe."

Quinn shook her head. "They're gonna overrun the city. I can get through to Hunter. I did it to get him to let me go. He's scared of Natalia, just like the rest of us. We can stop her. We have to stop her."

"We will," I told her. "Listen to me. She is not going to succeed. We've got this. This is our Earth. If you're right about Hunter, we can get him to turn against Natalia."

"We're really gonna trust him?" Cisco asked. "Trust Zoom? After everything that he did?"

"No, I wouldn't trust him," Harrison told us. "But maybe we can trust the love he has for Quinn. If anything was real, that was real."

"Vera and I know from being in the force that the universe is with us, not with Phoenix," Barry told her. "And if the universe is with us, how can we possibly lose? Right, guys?"

Caitlin nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, right."

I looked at Quinn. "You've been through a lot, and you just got your powers back. We know how exhausting that is. You should get some rest. Come on."

I helped Quinn stand.

"You were in the force?" Quinn asked.

I sighed. "When you were gone. It's hard to explain."

I led Quinn into the med bay.

~

Quinn was sleeping.

I was sitting by the door.

Barry walked in. "Hey. She's out like a light, huh?"

"Yeah," I answered. "Natalia really did a number on her."

Barry scoffed. "It's not like she exactly used kid gloves on the rest of us."

"She'll be okay," I told him. "She just needs time. And for us to finally bring her stepsister down."

"We will," Barry told me.

"Do you think Quinn's right?" I asked. "Do you think that she can actually turn Hunter against Natalia?"

"Well, he did spend all that time getting Quinn to fall in love with him to go along with Natalia's plan," Barry told me. "That was bound to mess with his head, too. He might have actually fell in love with her, too. So, if anybody can do it, it's Quinn. We can do this."

Cisco walked in to check on us. He stopped suddenly, gasping.

"Cisco?" I asked. "Are you okay? You just vibe?"

"Yeah," Cisco answered.

"What'd you see?" Barry asked.

"I saw a bird," Cisco answered. "Like, a dead bird."

We heard the alarm beeping from the computers in the Cortex, walking toward them.

"Mercury Labs," Barry told us.

"It's under attack," Cisco told us.

"All right," Barry told us.

Barry and I got suited up to leave.

~

Mercury Labs was toppling over. The building was falling down.

Barry zoomed into the building to pull out everyone inside before anyone got killed.

I used fire to fly to bring everyone on the roof outside.

Barry brought Christina McGee down to street next to us.

"Thank you, Mr. Allen and Miss Mitchell," McGee told us. Barry and I looked at her in surprise. "Well, I'm not stupid."

Barry and I chuckled.

~

We were in the Cortex with the team and McGee.

"So, how did you know?" Barry asked.

"Your real identities?" McGee asked.

"Yeah," I answered.

"Come on, I'm a scientist," McGee told us. "We're paid to be perceptive. And you're always a little too well informed when things go pear shaped in this city." I chuckled. McGee looked at Henry and Quinn. "But I don't believe we've met before. Dr. Christina McGee."

Henry shook her hand. "Dr. Henry Allen. I'm Barry's father."

Quinn shook her hand. "Quinn Tate. Earth 2 Pyra."

"I'm sorry?" McGee asked.

"All right, so now that the cat's out of  the bag, did you happen to see who it was that caused your building to collapse?" Barry asked.

"I didn't see anything," McGee told us. "It happened so fast."

"Maybe the security cameras saw something?" Caitlin asked.

"Can we access them?" I asked.

"Mercury Labs does have a crash-survivable memory unit," McGee told us.

"A what?" Henry asked.

"Virtually, a black box for buildings," McGee answered. "It will have stored all the security footage right up until the building collapsed."

"Okay, great, I'll go find it," Barry told us. "This wasn't some random metahuman. Whenever Mercury Labs has been targeted in the past, there's always been a specific reason."

"Yeah, someone's after something," Cisco told us.

"Yes, and that someone is probably Phoenix," Quinn told us. "And Zoom."

"Mm-hmm," Caitlin agreed.

"There may be more than one possibility," McGee told us. "A few months ago, I saw Harrison Wells running out of my facility. I know it sounds crazy, but I'm certain that it was him. Is there any way he could have anything to do with this?"

Harrison walked in. "A few months ago? Sure. Now? No."

McGee looked at Harrison in shock.

I gave Harrison a look for freaking her out. "Yeah, there are a few more things that we could catch you up on, Dr. McGee."

Quinn looked away, seeming to see something that we didn't, gasping.

"Quinn?" Caitlin asked. "You okay?"

Quinn looked at us, nodding. "Yeah. Fine."

~

Barry zoomed back into the Cortex with the black box. "Is this it?"

"That's the one," McGee answered.

"All right, great," Barry told us. "Dad, Dr. McGee, Cisco, why don't you guys crack this open, see what you can find?"

"Sure," Cisco answered.

"We'll go see what kind of metahuman powers can take down a building like that, and how to stop it," Harrison told us.

"Great," I told them.

Jessie nodded. "Sounds like fun."

Harrison and Jessie walked out, leaving.

I looked at Barry. "All right, we should go see of Joe needs any help in the streets."

Barry nodded in agreement. "Everybody cool here? Should be a piece of cake, right?"

Barry and I walked out of the Cortex through the corridor, getting ready to pull our masks on.

Henry followed us. "Hey."

I looked between them. "I'll give you guys a minute."

"Thanks," Barry told me.

I nodded, putting on my mask, about to walk out when I heard an alarm beeping from the Cortex, running back.

Barry and Henry followed.

"What is that?" I asked.

Everyone was looking at a picture of a lightning and star intersecting, burning on the side of a building in fire. Barry's symbol and my/Quinn's  symbol.

"It's CCPD," Cisco answered.

"Natalia," Quinn told us.

"Quinn, don't do it," Caitlin told her.

Quinn walked toward the door. "I'm not gonna let her get away with everything she's done."

Quinn walked out, leaving.

I looked at Barry. "We have to go after her."

Barry nodded. "Yeah."

~

Barry and I stayed right outside of the room of the meeting when Quinn went to face Natalia.

"You know, when I burned you, and you fell unconscious, a part of me wished that you wouldn't wake up," Natalia told her. "And then, the other part wanted you to wake up, because that would rob me of my vision, if you were just gone like that. You got your powers back, Quinn. Got them back from me, no less. Congratulations. Interesting."

"I know you didn't call me up here just to banter," Quinn told her. "Let's finish this right now."

"Actually, I did," Natalia told her. "I called you up here to tell you you and your friends can't keep taking down one meta and another and another. Around and around, like a dog chasing its tail."

Quinn walked closer. "I'll do whatever it takes to stop you."

"If only that were good enough," Natalia told her. "'Cause here's the thing. I know you. I know you, and I know what's holding you back. And I know that you didn't come here alone. Just like I didn't come alone."

Barry and I knew that she knew that we were there, coming out into view.

Hunter walked out into view from behind Natalia. He was slightly burned from when Quinn had delivered a convincing burn to trick Natalia into thinking that she got away.

Quinn looked unsettled to see the burn mark on his face from her, though she knew that he deserved it and that she had to do it to convince Natalia that she escaped.

"You and me, Barry, we're really just the same person," Hunter told him. "I never saw the crime scene photos of my mother's murder. Although I guess didn't need to. I had a ringside seat while you got whisked away. Too delicate, I suppose. Same tragic background, same reason for running.  Same desire to be the fastest, to be the best. Not just a hologram after all, are you, Flyra?"

"And while Barry and Hunter are the same, so are me and you, Vera," Natalia told me. "While I killed kids and teenagers before I got my powers, I also killed my parents. Tried to kill my stepsister. Repeatedly. And you, you killed your family. We are the same."

I scoffed. "You can keep saying that, but it's not gonna make it true."

"You'll see," Natalia told me. "We are. The difference us and you? You think your anger is dirty somehow. You want to be seen as pure, pretending to be the heroes. Doesn't it get exhausting, Vera? Doesn't it get exhausting, Barry? What about you, Quinn?"

"We're not pretending," Barry told them.

Natalia looked from Barry to me. "And you two, you got in the way of the game. Just to protect Quinn. My stepsister, the victim."

Quinn formed fire on her hands. "Not so much a victim anymore."

Natalia smiled. "It's a good thing you got your powers back, Quinn. It just means that I can take them from you again." I formed fire on my hands. Natalia looked at me with a smirk. "You, too. More painful this time. For both of you." We were about to fight when we saw a building starting to fall from the window. "Now, if it were me, I'd let that building tumble without a second thought. But the three of you? You'll never let that happen, will you? That's why we're gonna beat you. Because you always have to be the heroes. And while you're playing the good little boy and girls, I'll be busy winning."

Barry zoomed me and him out of the building.

Quinn threw fire into Natalia, glaring at her, following with fire to fly.

~

The team was talking in the Cortex.

"We can't let Natalia destroy another building," Barry told us. "We need to take her down, now, with or without Hunter's help."

"And how do you propose we do that with an army of metahumans laying waste to Central City?" Harrison asked. "We couldn't stop them on my Earth. What makes us different?"

"We're a team," Barry answered. "We start with the metahumans. They're the armor. We take them down first, and then they're more vulnerable."

"Barry, we don't even know how many of minions there are," Caitlin told him.

"There could be hundreds, a thousand," Iris told us.

"And all of them, they're all working with different powers," Cisco told us.

"It could take weeks to track them all down," Joe told us.

"Guys, we don't have weeks," I told them. "So, what we need to do is come up with a way to stop them all at once."

"Again, how?" Harrison asked.

I sighed. "Cisco. Your goggles, your camera, they didn't work on Earth 2, right?"

"Yeah, it was all a different frequency," Cisco told us.

I looked at Quinn. "And the way you took down the Time Wraith? That was based on frequency. Hartley's entire schtick..."

"I think I'm smelling what you're stepping in," Cisco told me.

"Yeah," Harrison told us.

"So, basically, we create some vibrational tech that could take down the Earth 2 metas," Cisco told us.

I nodded. "Basically."

"I like it," Harrison told us.

"Me, too," Cisco told us.

"I'll help," Caitlin told us.

"Okay," Barry told us.

"I'll let you know if I hear anything from CCPN," Iris told us.

"Thank you," Barry told her.

"You're welcome," Iris told us.

"Quinn, you okay with us creating frequency to take down Earth 2 metas, since you are an Earth 2 meta?" Caitlin asked.

"Yeah," Quinn answered. "Anything to take down Natalia."

Everyone started to split up.

"Hey, guys," Barry told us. "We got this."

We nodded.

"Bar, can I talk to you for a second?" Joe asked.

"Yeah," Barry answered. He looked at me. "Badass idea. Genius."

I smiled a small smile.

Barry and Joe walked into another room, leaving Quinn and me alone in the Cortex.

Quinn looked into the glass on the display cases for the suits, gasping, turning around.

I walked toward Quinn worriedly. "Hey, hey, hey. It's me. Okay? Breathe. Breathe. You're okay,  right? You're shaking."

"I thought I saw her," Quinn told me. "I thought I saw Natalia right there."

"It's just me," I told her. "Okay, look at me. She's not here."

Quinn sighed in frustration, turning away. Fire was sparking from her fingertips, though she didn't seem to do it on purpose. "I see her everywhere."

"Look, you literally just escaped the psychotic stepsister that kidnapped you, tortured you and has been playing mind games with you for three years, and plans to do more for the next three years," I told her. "All right? So, I think it's normal for you to have a severe reaction like this."

"This is so much worse than that," Quinn told me. "I don't want to be afraid anymore, but I am all the time. And not for me, Vera. I'm afraid for all of you. Because Natalia doesn't want to kill me until she's made me lose everything I care about. And you're my friends. Friends that I care about. I won't be able to move forward until we stop her."

"And we will," I told her. "I promise you, we will."

"When?" Quinn asked. "Nat took everything from me. My confidence, my trust, my sanity. And she used Jay... I mean Hunter... to do it. Someone that I loved. Someone that may or may not love me. I don't think I'll ever be whole again."

I sighed, looking at her sympathetically. "Of course you will. I promise. You said that you didn't want to give them the satisfaction of seeing you break. So you just gotta be strong enough to make sure that you don't."

I smiled a small, reassuring smile, wrapping my arms around her. Quinn hugged back gratefully.

Cisco walked in. "Vera, we got a major metahuman alert at Fifth and Main. Get there."

"Where's Barry?" I asked.

"Talking Wally out of engaging in metahuman war as the Flash on Joe's behalf," Cisco answered.

I sighed, picking up my mask. "All right, so it's up to me."

"You don't have to go out there alone," Quinn told me.

I looked at her, nodding. "You sure you're ready?"

"Yeah," Quinn answered. "You need help out there."

Cisco took out a box, showing it to Quinn. "I guess it's a good thing I've been making updates to this beauty." Quinn opened the box to reveal her suit inside from Earth 2. "You like it?"

Quinn could actually smile a little, nodding. "It's perfect."

~

I used fire to fly to the street, letting the fire fade, landing in front of the metahuman in a complete black suit.

The metahuman sighed. "Why is it always so difficult to choose?"

I looked at her in shock, realizing that she was the dead Laurel Lance's Earth 2 doppelganger.

"Vera, what is it?" Cisco asked.

"It's Laurel Lance," I answered.

Laurel 2 smirked.

I was still in shock.

~

I walked closer. "Laurel."

Laurel 2 laughed. "Laurel Lance is dead. On this Earth, anyway. Poor Black Canary. Bye, bye, birdy."

"Earth 2 Laurel," Cisco told us.

"You knew her doppelganger?" Harrison asked.

"We didn't just know her," Caitlin told him. "We loved her."

Quinn landed on the ground behind Laurel 2. "Long time, Black Siren."

Black Siren smiled. "It's the Pyra from my Earth. You finally got your powers back. Not so sure how they'll stand up to your stepsister. She mentioned that you might be showing up." She looked at me. "She also mentioned that you might be bringing friends."

"If she told you what we could do, you should look more afraid," I told her.

Black Siren smirked. "And so should you."

"Tell me, why did you take down Mercury Labs?" I asked.

"Because I like to watch things crumble and fall," Black Siren told us. "Guess what. You're next, Pyras."

Quinn angrily threw fire toward Black Siren.

Black Siren screamed at the fire. Sound waves pushed the flames away from her before it could touch her. She screamed at me, using the sound waves to push me to the ground.

The screams were causing us pain.

"Vera?" Caitlin asked. "Quinn? Are you guys okay?"

"Look, anything over 200 decibels will kill a human," Harrison told is.

"Was that too loud?" Black Siren asked. "Perhaps we should quiet things down a bit." I stood. Black Siren punched me in the face twice, spinning to kick me in the stomach. I was still reeling from the scream. Black Siren kicked me to the ground. Quinn stood, using fire to push Black Siren to the ground. Black Siren screamed at Quinn, using the sound waves to push her to the ground, disorienting her and me both. "You know the sad thing is, I think Zoom's actually afraid of you. Phoenix, she's not afraid of anything. She's too crazy to be scared of anything." She chuckled. "And you, you're hardly worth the chills. How many metas did they send to try and kill you two? Well, it's too bad. He should have just sent me, because that way. You would have already been--"

Quinn and I both used fire to shoot Black Siren from either side, making her scream in pain, letting her fall, also disorienting ourselves at the same time.

Barry zoomed closer, grabbing both Quinn and me, zooming us away.

~

We were in the med bay of STAR Labs.

Henry and Caitlin were checking on me and Quinn, and the two of us could barely hear them because of Black Siren's screams.

"Why do so many villains that we go up against use sound as a weapon?" Caitlin asked.

"What?" Quinn asked.

Caitlin chuckled. "Nothing."

"You're gonna be fine," Henry told us.

"Thanks," I told them. "Thanks for coming to our rescue, Barry. It was lucky."

Barry put a hand on my shoulder. "We got more than luck on our side, Vera. Besides, you two handled Black Siren pretty well. You were just reeling. We'll get her next time."

"You know we're not invincible, right?" Quinn asked.

"Yes, of course, I know this," Barry answered.

"Yeah, but it's like you think that nothing can touch you," Joe told us. "Like nothing bad can get in your way. That's not true, for any of us."

"What are you saying?" I asked.

"Look, we know that you guys had an experience in the force," Iris told us. "And I'm happy that you think that we're gonna win the day."

"I think a little fear can be a healthy thing," Henry told us. "It helps us determine which risks are worth taking. I think that's something for you all to take to heart."

I nodded.

~

Third person

Natalia was in Barry's lab, looking out of the window to the rain.

Hunter walked in. "Black Siren met our little Pyras and Flash tonight. Aren't you gonna ask if she killed them?"

"She didn't," Natalia told him. "She's good, but not that good."

"And yet, she seems to be the only one of our top lieutenants still standing," Hunter told her.

"Like I said, she's good," Natalia told him. "Did she go to knock down a few more buildings? Like I ordered?"

"What's the point?" Hunter asked.

Natalia turned to face him dangerously, walking closer. "The point is so that it seems random. That way, Flyra and their merry band won't realize what we're up to until it's too late."

"What 'we're' up to," Hunter repeated. "Although, I don't even know."

"You don't know because I lost trust in you when Quinn got away," Natalia told him.

"I told you she got her powers back and attacked me when I had my back turned," Hunter told her.

"I think someone did a little too good of a job when I told you to make her fall in love with you," Natalia told him. "But I think that you got a little too caught up in the game and started to feel for her what she feels for you."

Hunter shook his head, looking nervous. "You're wrong. What are you up to, really?"

Natalia smirked. "No good. I'll tell you soon."

~

Vera

In the breach room, the team was gathered.

Cisco was testing out different frequencies on Harrison.

"Ow," Harrison told us.

"Sorry," Cisco told him.

Harrison winced at the beeping from the headphones he was wearing. "Ow!"

Cisco chuckled. "There we go."

"Are you kidding me with this?" Harrison asked.

"Hey, at least it works," Cisco told him.

"Tremendous," Harrison told us sarcastically.

"What is it exactly?" Barry asked.

"It's just a small source of joy," Cisco told us. "But more importantly, it's how we're gonna stop Zoom and Phoenix's army."

"By giving them all electroshock therapy?" Joe asked.

"By giving them all dimensional-shock therapy," Cisco answered.

"This is where I play stupid and you explain the science," Joe told him.

"Okay, fair enough," Cisco told us. "So, all matter vibrates at its own unique frequency, right? You disrupt the frequency, you disrupt the matter."

"Like how an opera singer shatters glass with her voice," Iris told us.

"Exactly," Cisco told us. "So we found out all Earth 2 people vibrate at their own, more erratic frequency."

"Higher frequency," Harrison corrected.

"Different frequency," Cisco told us.

"Higher," Harrison corrected.

"Higher frequency than we do," Cisco told us.

Quinn nodded. "Right."

"So, I ran all this past Hartley, right?" Cisco asked. "And he postulated that we could create a sort of dimensional tuning fork. Viola."

"Okay, you didn't do it yourself," Harrison told him.

"Just let me have this one, okay?" Cisco asked.

"All right, have it," Harrison told him.

"Thank you," Cisco told him. He looked at Barry. "So, if you run around the city fast enough to create a refracting field, the device can send out a pulse that will bounce off of it, split apart, and collide with itself over and over."

"Amplifying it to an erratic frequency on the Earth 2," Barry told us.

"Higher frequency," Harrison corrected.

"Higher frequency on the Earth 2 spectrum," I told them.

"And when that pulse hits anyone from Earth 2..." Cisco trailed off.

"It'll disrupt their nervous system," Caitlin finished.

"Earth 2 metas go night night," Cisco told us.

"Even Zoom and Phoenix?" Iris asked.

"Even Zoenix," Cisco answered.

"Harry, Jessie and Quinn are from Earth 2," Joe told us. "How do we keep the pulse from hurting them?"

"Detective, I didn't know you cared," Harrison told him.

"Yes, you did," Joe told him.

Harrison chuckled. "Well, we designed these headphones to protect us from the pulse."

"Beats by Wells," I told them.

Quinn chuckled.

The computer beeped.

"Cisco, it's your metahuman alert app," Caitlin told him.

"That's the high-rise development on the west side," Joe told us.

"Hundreds of people live there," Iris told us.

"Ramon, we're up," Harrison told him. "Let's go. Set off that pulse right now. Allen, you need to start generating that refracting field right now."

"Black Siren could take this building down at any point," I told them. "I'm going."

"You'll need help," Quinn told me.

I nodded.

~

Black Siren walled up to the buildings, chuckling. "I don't think I've taken down so many buildings at once."

Quinn and I landed on the ground behind her, letting the fire fade.

"Maybe you're not as powerful as you think," Quinn told her.

"You two really wanna do this again?" Black Siren asked.

"I think the better question is, do you?" I asked. "You got burned pretty bad last time."

Black Siren smirked.

~

Black Siren screamed at us, though the scream didn't pass through the earbuds that Barry had made for us while we had been on Kara's Earth for Silver Banshee.

"I'm sorry," I told her sarcastically. "We couldn't hear you. You wanna try again?"

Black Siren punched me in the face. Quinn shot fire into Black Siren's back, making her fall to the ground. I formed fire in my hands. Black Siren rolled up into a standing position, turning to face me, trying to punch me. I ducked, spinning around her, turning to face her. Black Siren turned to face Quinn, punching her in the face, trying to punch her again. Quinn spun underneath her arms in a circle to make her miss, slamming fire into her chest, making her back away. Black Siren tried to punch me. I caught her arm with a hand of fire, burning her, making her groan in pain, pushing her away.

"You're not much of a fighter without your voice," Quinn told her.

Black Siren glared at us.

~

We heard the high pitched beeping from the device and the refracting field.

Black Siren and Quinn held their heads in pain.

"It's working," I told them. Black Siren fell unconscious. The earbuds mostly protected Quinn from the sound, though she was still deeply effected by it, falling to her knees. I knelt in front of her. "Quinn."

Quinn smirked slightly. "It worked."

I heard Joe through comms. "Barry, Vera, we did it. Bring them all in."

"Copy that," Barry told us. "We're on cleanup."

~

In the pipeline, Black Siren was in her own cell, screaming, but we couldn't hear her.

"What's that?" Cisco asked. "I can't... I can't hear you through the double-paned soundproof glass. It's... it's kind of hard to make out what you're saying."

"So should we tell Sara and Captain Lance about her?" Caitlin asked.

"No," Barry answered. "I've seen what interacting with your family's doppelgangers can do, and that's not even Laurel."

"Nope, just a poor imitation," I told them, closing the door between us and the cells. I looked at Quinn. "How you doing? You okay?"

"No," Quinn answered. "But I think I'm gonna be. Being there with you guys, fighting metahumans, and saving people? It reminded me of old times, back on Earth 2, before Jay, before Zoom and Phoenix. It's the first time I felt normal in a long time."

"Come here," I told her, hugging Quinn.

"This is a group hug moment," Cisco told us.

"Yeah, get in," Barry told us.

"It is," Caitlin told us.

Barry, Cisco and Caitlin hugged Quinn and me. We laughed.

~

The next day, the CCPD had been taken over again by the police now that the metahumans were in Iron Heights or the pipeline.

Zoom and Phoenix had gone through a breach back to Earth 2.

That night, I walked into my loft to see that the team, McGee, Wally and Henry were all there, setting up a dinner. "What the.... What is this?"

"Blame Barry," Cisco told me.

"Okay, I just figured that since my dad and Quinn are officially back for good, we should celebrate," Barry told me. "And since Zoom and Phoenix are gone and the city is quiet right now."

"I appreciate it, Barry," Henry told him.

"Me, too," Quinn told him. "Thank you."

"Hi, Tina," Henry told her.

"Hello, Henry," McGee told him. "Good to see you."

Henry sat next to her. "Good to see you, too. You look great."

"Thank you," McGee told him.

Barry and I stood to the side to talk alone.

"I hope that you don't mind," Barry told me. "I wanted it to be a surprise celebration."

I smiled, shaking my head. "No. I don't mind. I like it."

"Yeah?" Barry asked.

I nodded. "Yeah. So I guess we are invincible."

"Told you," Barry told me. "The force is with us. Sounds a lot like Star Wars."

I smiled. "Mm."

"Since I'm feeling extra invincible lately, what do you say you and I go on an actual date?" Barry asked. "No fighting metahumans, no surprises, no last minute cancellations."

I nodded. "I would really like that."

Barry and I looked at each other, smiling, kissing sweetly, slowly and softly.

Caitlin walked in from the kitchen. "Soup's on."

"Hey," Cisco told us. "Taking out a city full of monsters makes a man hungry."

Joe handed out drinks. "First, a toast." We raised our glasses. "To family."

"To family," everyone repeated, taking a drink.

"That's my kind of toast, short and sweet," Cisco told us. "Let's eat."

Joe laughed.

Cisco suddenly stopped, gasping.

"Cisco, what?" Quinn asked. "What is it?"

"What'd you see?" Barry asked.

"What do you mean, see?" Wally asked.

"Cisco gets visions," Caitlin explained.

"I don't understand," Cisco told us.

"What, Cisco?" I asked.

"Earth 2 is splitting in half, straight down through the poles," Cisco told us. "Tell me I didn't just vibe the future. Please tell me I did not just see the end of the world."

I looked at a orange substance that slipped across the floor in confusion. "What the hell?"

The orange substance stopped behind Henry, transforming into Natalia, grabbing Henry from behind with flaming hands. She looked at Quinn. "Our story continues, Quinn." She looked at Barry and me. "And I told you what would happen if you got in my way of destroying her life, Flyra."

Natalia let out a scream that set my entire loft on fire, making us all jump back, using it as a distraction to get Henry out of the loft.

Barry zoomed to get the others out of the loft before they could be burned by the fire, while Quinn and I followed Natalia by using fire to fly. Once Barry had gotten everyone to safety, he zoomed after us.

We chased Natalia and Henry to a rooftop.

"Dad?" Barry asked worriedly.

Natalia was restraining Henry with fire, using fire to keep Barry, Quinn and me back.

"Natalia, no!" Quinn told her. "Your fight's with me. You don't have to do this."

"They got in my way," Natalia told her.

"Natalia, don't do this," I told her. "All right?"

"I'm begging you," Barry told her. "Okay? I'm begging you."

"Take me," Quinn told her. "Kill me. Okay? I'm the one you hate. Kill me."

Natalia used fire to burn the three of us, to bring us to our knees in agony. "I want to see you lose everything before I kill you, Quinn."

"Come on, come on," Barry begged.

"Barry, look at me," Henry told him. "Look at me, son."

Natalia ignored them, looking at Quinn. "Including  making you lose the friends that you care so much about."

Henry looked at Barry. "Whatever happens, you have made me the happiest father."

"Dad," Barry told him.

Quinn and I tried to use fire to fight back to make Natalia stop torturing us with fire, but she was using her fire to siphon just enough of our power to make us weak.

"This time, you're gonna lose everything," Natalia told her.

"No," I told her. "No!"

Henry looked at Barry. "Your mother and I love you."

"Say goodbye to everything, Quinn," Natalia told her.

"Nat!" Quinn told her.

Natalia burned Henry alive.

Barry screamed in horror and devastation. "No!"

We were completely in shock, still being burned beyond compare, though we were more horrified and devastated by Henry's death than we were about our own pain.
