Chapter 22__Rupture

Vera

I was still burned from Natalia taking my power, but not as bad, walking into the Cortex to see Cisco and Iris sitting at the desk. "Cisco, what's going on?"

"There's a high speed chase heading down on Milton Ave," Cisco answered.

Caitlin walked toward me. "You should not be on your feet."

"I'm fine, Dr. Snow," I told her.

"'Fine' is not an accurate word for your situation," Caitlin told me. "'Better' is."

I nodded sarcastically, looking away.

Iris smiled a small smile in amusement.

"Oh, oh, you wanna play?" Cisco asked. "Okay." Iris laughed. "All right, get ready to bring it."

Barry was in the training room, running on the treadmill, using a hologram in the streets to make people think he was still the Flash.

"They're not slowing down," Iris told us.

"Of course not," Barry told us.

"They're headed for the Fifth Street Tunnel," Cisco told us. "Satellite can't project in there."

"What, you just thought of this now?" Iris asked.

"I didn't think he'd actually try to outrun the Flash," Cisco told us.

"Lightning," I told them. "Lightning toss."

"No, no lightning," Cisco told us. "It's a hologram, remember."

"No, the wind up," I told him.

"So we can block their field of vision," Caitlin told us. "Of course."

"All right, Cisco, this is where all those countless hours gaming in your basement are about to pay off," Cisco told himself. "Fingers, don't fail me now. Leeroy!"

Cisco made the hologram of Flash zoom in circles around the get away car like when Barry was about to throw lightning, making them stop so that the authorities could catch up to them and take them away.

~

Barry walked into the Cortex. "I need a breather."

I chuckled.

"I didn't think this hologram thing was gonna work," Iris told us. "But, so far, so good."

Cisco and Iris high fived.

Cisco laughed. "I mean, I figured if they could get Tupac rapping at a concert again, we could definitely get Flyra saving Central City."

"Yeah, what are you gonna do about a Pyra hologram with fire, game boy?" I asked.

"Let me see what I can do," Cisco told us.

Harrison walked in. "It's not going to last."

"There it is," Cisco told us.

"It's not gonna be long before someone figures it out," Harrison told us. "'Oh, wait, you never say anything, you never touch anything, you never go indoors.'"

"Okay, well, without Barry and Vera's powers, this is as good an idea as any," Caitlin told us.

"Actually, I beg to differ," Harrison told us. "I think a better idea, instead of playing hodlums and holograms, would to be rebuild the particle accelerator to get Barry and Vera's powers back."

"Yeah, Wells, that's what you keep saying," I told him.

"That's right," Harrison told us.

"Look at what that explosion did to this city," Barry told him.

"Not to mention, the last time we tried something like that, we blew a hole in the universe and created 50 portals to your Earth," I told him.

"Which is exactly how Zoom, Phoenix and their henchmen got here in the first place," Iris told him.

Cisco gestured to Iris in agreement.

"I told you, I know how to contain the explosion," Harrison told us.

"Really?" Cisco asked.

Harrison nodded. "Yes."

"You know how to contain a dark matter explosion that last time radiated all over Central City?" I asked skeptically. "You tried this on your Earth, remember? Didn't go so well."

"And even if you could contain it, I thought you said Barry and Vera can't tap into their individual forces anymore," Caitlin told him.

"It wasn't connected the first time they got their powers," Harrison told us. "Look, I have your Wells' data. The Harrison Wells from this Earth, I have his science. I know what chemicals need to be in your bodies. I know how the the lightning and the fire need to bond with the dark matter from the particle accelerator explosion. I can recreate the circumstances to get you your powers back. This will work. Your subterfuge..." He chuckled without humor. "It's not gonna last. But more importantly, it's not gonna save Tate. It's not gonna bring Quinn back. You wanna be ready? Should Zoom and Phoenix return, if they return, when they return, there is only one way to do it, and that's by getting your powers back."

Barry and I looked at each other, contemplating.

~

The next day, Barry went out to talk to his father Henry out of town.

Iris, Caitlin, Cisco, Jessie and I were in the med bay, where I was sitting on the bed, and we were all looking at the information on the screen.

"It looks like the vacuum," Cisco told us.

"What's the vacuum?" Jessie asked.

"No Fringe on Earth 2," Cisco told her. "Noted."

"What is that thing?" Iris asked.

Harrison walked in. "That is how I'm gonna get Barry and Vera's powers back."

"This is what you've been working on in the workshop?" Caitlin asked.

"Someone has to worry about Zoom and Phoenix," Harrison told us.

"Okay, you cannot do that," I told him. "You know damn well that we're worried about Hunter, Natalia, and most of all Quinn's safety around them."

"You want to save her?" Harrison asked. "You have to do this, Mitchell."

"You keep calling me that," I told him, annoyed with the way that he kept calling me by my last name. "But that's--"

Cisco gasped like he was having a vibe. "Dante?"

"What'd you see?" Caitlin asked. "Zoom? Phoenix? Did you see Quinn?"

"No," Cisco answered. "I saw my brother. I gotta go."

Cisco walked out, leaving.

Barry and Henry walked in through the Cortex toward us.

"Hey," Barry told us.

"Henry?" Iris asked.

"Iris, hi," Henry told her.

Iris smiled, walking toward him. "It's so good to see you."

Henry and Iris hugged.

"Oh, you, too," Henry told her.

I sat up. "I guess Barry dragged you back for a bit, huh?"

"It looks like maybe for good," Barry told us.

I smiled. "Wait, what? Seriously?"

"Yeah, yeah," Henry answered. "I figured I've spent enough time away from my son." He looked at the burns on my skin in sympathy. "Oh, Vera. Barry told me about what happened. Looks like someone needs a hug."

I smiled, nodding, pushing myself up from the bed, wincing slightly in pain. Henry and I hugged, pulling away.

Barry smiled.

"Have you told Dad?" Iris asked.

"Nah," Barry answered. "I wanted to tell him in person."

"Yeah, I think he's with Wally at CCPD," Iris told us. "I'll give him a call. Okay."

Iris laughed.

Barry took off his jacket. "Dad, let's get settled."

~

Third person

Joe and Wally were at CCPD.

Natalia and Hunter, suited up, arrived, leaving Quinn on the balcony above them.

Joe aimed his gun at them. "Zoom. Phoenix."

"Hello, old friends," Hunter told them.

Joe pulled Wally behind him. "Stay away from him."

Singh aimed his gun at them. "Do not move."

"Or what?" Natalia asked. "You've tried your guns on us once before."

"No!" Quinn told them. Joe looked up at Quinn. "Don't hurt them. Let them go, please."

Hunter looked toward her.

Natalia ignored her, looking at everyone else. "Tell everyone the city is ours. Anyone who disobeys will meet their end."

"All right," Singh told them. "Clear out."

Joe looked up at Quinn.

Quinn nodded.

Joe started to back away with Wally and the police. Joe and Singh still had their guns aimed at Hunter and Natalia until they left the building.

Natalia looked at Quinn, smirking.

Quinn glared.

~

Vera

Joe had come to the Cortex to tell us about what happened. "Quinn's with Zoom and Phoenix."

"Why would they bring her here?" Iris asked.

"To show power," Harrison answered. "It's exactly what they did on my Earth."

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"First thing they did was murder people," Harrison told us. "Slaughtered a bunch of policeman, then recruited every metahuman they could find. And those that disobeyed, they killed, too."

"Where are the police now?" Barry asked.

"Outside the precinct," Joe answered.

"They'll kill them, Joe," Harrison told him. "They'll kill them all."

"Natalia, maybe," Joe told us. "Hunter seemed to hesitate when Quinn told them to let them go. She talked him out of killing everyone when they took over CCPD."

"That's what we're gonna rely on?" Harrison asked. "Tate talking them out of it? Natalia hates Quinn. She more than likely brought her here to make her watch as she took over yet another one of her homes."

"Yeah, but if Hunter really cared about Quinn like we thought he did when we thought he was Jay, maybe she can talk him into turning against Phoenix," Caitlin told us.

"Joe, you need to get those guys out of there," Harrison told him.

"What if they set up at Jitters?" I asked.

"It's a good idea," Joe told us. "It's just a block away from the precinct."

"And then what?" Harrison asked. "What happens next? You saw what Zoom and Phoenix did on my Earth. They will do the same thing here. We need to get your powers back."

"There must be another way," Henry told us.

"There's not," Harrison told us. He looked at Barry and me. "There's not."

Harrison walked out.

I looked down.

"I'm gonna get word to Singh," Joe told us. "Get him to set up a task force at Jitters."

"And then what?" Iris asked.

"I don't know yet," Joe told us. "But I'm gonna make sure that Wally and Jessie are safe."

~

Third person

It was night at the precinct.

Quinn was handcuffed to a bar on a desk, sitting on a floor, struggling against the cuffs.

Natalia walked toward her.

"You know they're gonna figure out a way to stop you, right?" Quinn asked.

"Who?" Natalia asked. "Barry? Vera? The police?" She laughed. "No. Nobody can stop me now. Not anymore."

"So what's your plan?" Quinn asked. "You're just gonna kill everyone like you did on our Earth? Recruit metas? Create chaos?"

"That's the general idea, yeah," Natalia answered.

"And you're keeping me here so that you can force me to have a front row seat," Quinn told her.

"Well, I already watched your pain as I took over your true home," Natalia told her. "Now I wanna watch your pain as I take over this one, too."

"You're a psychotic bitch," Quinn told her in a mocking whisper.

Natalia smirked, kneeling in front of Quinn, whispering mockingly. "Sh. That's our little secret."

"No, it's not," Quinn told her. "Everyone knows it. And those who don't, I'll make sure they will soon."

Natalia glared at Quinn, using fire to burn her, making her scream.

~

Vera

Barry and I were listening to Harrison, Joe and Henry in the basement.

"Wally and Jessie are all good," Joe told him.

"Thank you," Harrison told him.

"So this is what it takes to get Barry and Vera their powers back?" Joe asked.

Harrison chuckled. "Yeah. Yeah. It's not uncomplicated, but almost there."

"I told you before, once Barry and Vera make up their minds, it's impossible to change them," Joe told him.

"Well, then we need to convince them that this is the only way before they decide not to do it," Harrison told them.

"You shouldn't have to convince anyone to do anything against their will," Henry told them. "Joe, we're talking about Barry and Vera, right? I mean, I can't... I can't imagine you don't feel the same way."

"Henry, right now, I don't know what the right thing to do is," Joe told him.

"Seems clear to me," Henry told them.

"This isn't just about your son or his girlfriend, Henry," Harrison told him. "This is about the people in Central City, about saving those people. This is about stopping Zoom and Phoenix."

"Your daughter is safe," Henry told him. "This could kill Barry and Vera."

"I'm not gonna let that happen," Harrison told him.

"The last time Barry was struck by lightning, he was in a coma for four months," Henry told him. "The first time Vera was burned alive during the explosion, she was in a coma for nine. How did that happen?"

"I know what I'm doing," Harrison told him.

"You are messing with something that is out of your control," Henry told him. "And what if did work? I mean, what then? Joe, they go up against Zoom and Phoenix? The monsters that snapped Barry's back, burned Vera alive, and nearly killed both of them? And then took the things that they're convinced now that they need in order to make them whole?"

"This is the way," Harrison told him. "This is the only way. The people of Central City need the Flash and Pyra."

Joe saw Barry and me standing in the doorway. "Guys..."

Harrison and Henry followed his gaze to look at us.

"I know that you care about us, each of you, in your own way," Barry told them. "And you all have your own point of view on this."

"This decision is ours," I told them. "We have to make it on our own."

~

Another metahuman that looked exactly like Cisco's brother Dante had attacked them both in the street.

We were talking in the Cortex.

"He calls himself Rupture," Harrison told us. "Another metahuman under Zoom and Phoenix's control from my Earth."

"Great," Iris told us sarcastically. "So they're bringing more of their friends over."

"It's what I told you they would do," Harrison told us.

"Okay, well, they must have lied to fake Dante and told him I was the one who killed Reverb, 'cause dude wants me dead," Cisco told us. "We gotta do something."

"What else do you know about him?" I asked.

"He gets his power from that scythe he wields," Harrison told us.

"Thing's legit, too," Cisco told us. "It almost took half the van with him."

"All right, then that's what we need to do," Barry told us. "We need to figure out a way to get it away from him."

"Right," I told them. "Okay. All right, I'm sure we can come up with something."

"I just have to figure out a way to not tell Dante why this psychopath looks exactly like him," Cisco told us, walking out, leaving.

Harrison looked at Barry and me. "You know what you need to do."

I sighed. "I need a minute."

~

I walked into the basement to look at the device that we were supposed to sit in while this was going down.

Barry walked in from behind me. "Hey."

I turned to face him. "This should be an easy decision." I scoffed. "Why isn't it?"

"I mean, it's not like we're picking out which sweater we want to wear," Barry told me. "Getting hit by another particle accelerator explosion? I mean, come on. What if something goes wrong? What if..."

"What if we die?" I finished.

"I thought that bringing my dad here would make this easier," Barry told me. He chuckled without humor. "It's just made it a lot harder."

"Yeah, I can understand him not wanting you to do it," I told him. "He just wants you to be safe."

"What about you?" Barry asked. "Are you okay?"

I shook my head. "Not really. Phoenix humiliated me, again, burned me alive, again, and left me with all of these. I can barely manage to get around the lab, let alone..."

"Vera, you're gonna get better," Barry told me. "And it doesn't matter to me if you're Pyra or not. You, Vera, that's who I want to have a future with."

I smiled a small smile, nodding. "I want the same thing, Barry. You don't have to be the Flash to be a hero. I'm fine with you either way." We smiled small smiles. "But I do know that this city needs saving, especially Quinn. And we both feel unwhole without our powers. So, what do we do?"

Barry didn't have an answer yet.

~

Third person

Quinn was still handcuffed to the desk, sitting on the floor of the precinct, reaching for a box. "Come on." She opened the box, going through it until she found a phone. "Yes."

Quinn heard a noise from further in the precinct, putting the phone back, sliding the box away so she didn't get caught.

Rupture walked in.

Natalia walked toward him. "And?"

"He got away," Rupture answered. "But I'll find him."

"Later," Natalia told him.

"He needs to pay for what he did to my brother," Rupture told her.

"And he will, later, Rupture," Natalia told him.

"What do you want me to do?" Rupture asked.

"The police have gathered again," Natalia told him. "They think I've spared their lives. Tonight, we show them they're wrong."

Rupture nodded, walking out.

Natalia looked toward where Quinn was watching, smirking.

Quinn shook her head.

Natalia walked out, leaving.

Hunter walked toward Quinn. "You disapprove."

"You said you would spare them," Quinn told him.

"Yes, I did," Hunter agreed. "Natalia didn't." He knelt in front of Quinn to treat her new burns. "Little tip. Avoid saying things that will make her angry."

"I'm done being afraid of her," Quinn told him.

Hunter smiled a small smile. "You were always fearless."

"What is she gonna do?" Quinn asked.

"She's trying to teach them a lesson," Hunter answered.

"Is that why you two change your voices, so everyone will be afraid of you?" Quinn asked.

"As you said before, we're nothing but monsters," Hunter told her.

"I believe that about Natalia," Quinn told him. "If you were like her, you wouldn't do this for me."

Hunter didn't answer, lowering his hand, taking the supplies, standing, walking away.

Quinn watched him go, taking the phone out of the box, sending a text.

Rupture/Phoenix attack at Jitters 2nite.

~

Vera

In the Cortex, Harrison and Joe were standing at the computers, talking to Jessie and Wally through video chat, who were in the time vault to stay safe.

"Can we come out yet?" Jessie asked.

"No," Joe and Harrison answered together.

"Something's beeping over here," Joe told us.

Caitlin picked up the phone. "It's from CCPD."

I looked at the text over her shoulder. "That's Quinn."

Barry walked in. "What about Quinn?"

"She sent us a message," Caitlin told him. "Rupture and Natalia are gonna attack Jitters tonight."

"We gotta move, Barry," Joe told him.

"What are you gonna do?" Henry asked.

"Having Flyra might be the best way to stop Zoom and Phoenix and all the metas they're sending over," I told them. Harrison nodded smugly. "But look. I... until we know for sure that setting off the accelerator will work, it's too risky. Not just for us, but for the entire city."

"Yeah, there are countless others that would be affected if the explosion is not contained," Barry told us.

"Yes, but, look," Harrison told us.

"Stop, Wells," I told him. "Look, I'm sorry. We've made up our minds."

Barry sighed. "I'm sorry. We're gonna have to figure out how to do this without Flyra."

~

Barry, Joe, Cisco and I went out to Jitters to stand up against Rupture and Natalia and protect the police.

The police were inside.

Barry, Cisco and I were in the van outside.

Barry and I were wearing devices for the holograms.

"You all set, Cisco?" Joe asked.

"Yeah, we're all set," Cisco answered.

"Here they come," Joe told us.

Rupture walked inside, using his scythe to destroy the glass doors. "Now where has everyone gone?" Barry started to run in place. The hologram of the Flash zipped past Rupture. "Flash. Not who I was expecting, but you'll be a nice warm up."

Rupture spun the scythe around, shooting a red blast toward him.

The hologram of Flash zoomed out of the way.

"Too slow, Rupture," I told him.

The hologram of Pyra appeared with flames around her.

"Pyra," Rupture told her. "Another training exercise." Rupture threw a red blast toward the hologram of Pyra. The hologram of Pyra appeared to fly up with fire. Rupture spun the scythe around, shooting a red blast toward the hologram of Flash. Barry slid to the side. The hologram of Flash zoomed to the side. "Come on, Flyra."

"All right, time to win an Oscar," Cisco told us.

"Let's do it," I told them.

Rupture shot a red blast toward the hologram of Flash.

The hologram of Flash zoomed out of the way.

Rupture spun around to face the hologram of Pyra, shooting a red blast toward her.

The hologram of Pyra sidestepped, shooting a hologram of flames toward him.

Rupture ducked.

Joe and Singh stepped out of cover, shooting Rupture with blast guns, making him fall to his knees, kicking the scythe away from him, taking off his mask.

"Get up," Joe told him.

"Are we the guys you were looking for?" Singh asked. "I hope you like being alone, 'cause you won't be talking to anyone in Iron Heights."

Barry and I smiled.

"Cisco, we got him," Joe told him. "All good."

"Not all good," I told them. "Where's Natalia?"

Barry didn't like the feeling that we got from the fact that Natalia was supposed to be apart of the attack and didn't seem to be anywhere around, either.

Inside, news reporters were filming Rupture's arrest.

"Get back," Singh told them. "Get that camera back."

~

Third person

Quinn was still sitting on the floor, handcuffed to the desk, watching the news.

"Breaking news coming out of Jitters coffee shop. CCPD has learned that a metahuman was just apprehended after an altercation with the Flash and Pyra. That's right."

Hunter walked toward Quinn. "You told them about the attack. How?" Quinn didn't answer. "How?" Hunter looked at the boxes nearby Quinn, seeing that one of them was slightly open. "Oh, you are smart, aren't you? Except for when it comes to angering your stepsister."

"You can stop her," Quinn told him.

Hunter shook his head. "No, I can't."

~

Natalia, suited up, used fire to fly into Jitters.

Everyone aimed their guns at her.

Quinn and Hunter were watching from the precinct on live news.

Quinn was horrified. "Oh, my God. No!"

~

They were watching the news.

"Make sure you get this," Natalia told them.

Barry, Vera and Cisco were watching from the van.

"What the..." Cisco trailed off.

"They gotta get outta there," Vera told them.

Inside, Natalia was flickering with fire that surrounded her.

"Everybody move!" Joe told them.

Natalia threw the long, unending stream into all of the officers in the building except for Joe and Singh, burning them alive, making them scream and fall dead to the floor.

Barry and Vera were horrified, running out of the van.

"Barry, Vera, don't!" Cisco told them.

Quinn and Hunter were watching from the precinct.

Hunter sighed knowingly.

Quinn looked horrified.

In Jitters, Natalia gripped Singh by the throat with a flaming hand, burning him, but not killing him, making him scream in pain.

"No!" Joe told her.

"I told you what would happen if you disobeyed," Natalia told them.

Barry and Vera ran inside.

"Hey, stop!" Barry told her. "Stop!"

"God, you've made your point," Vera told her.

"Not quite yet," Natalia told them, letting go of Singh, making her fall, burning Rupture alive, slamming him down onto the counter. "You're an even bigger disappointment than your brother."

Natalia killed Rupture with fire.

Cisco watched from the van in horror, thinking about his brother.

Quinn watched from the precinct in disgust and horror, putting a hand over her mouth in shock. "No."

Natalia walked toward the camera on the floor, picking it up. "Central City, the Flash and Pyra you've seen in your streets and skies are fakes. Holograms meant to give you hope. But there is no more hope, there is no more Flyra, and there's no one left to protect your city from people like me." She tossed the camera down, looking at Singh. "Tell the rest of your force, Captain, that their policing days are over." She looked at Barry and Vera. "You're only alive because I want Quinn to see you burn. Not on live TV, but in person. Try something like this again, and my revenge won't stop me from killing the two of you when I want, where I want, or the rest of this city."

Natalia used fire to fly out of the building, leaving everyone horrified.

~

Vera

The team was talking in the Cortex.

"It won't be long now," Harrison told us. "Phoenix is much stronger than she ever was, and Zoom is moving faster than he ever did on my Earth."

"So what's next?" Iris asked.

"Next, they'll recruit every metahuman they can find, and them force them to do what they want," Harrison answered.

"How many could be left?" Joe asked. "We defeated most of them, didn't we?"

"No," Harrison answered. "You're not even close. This is a list of metahumans from my Earth. Ones that are known, anyway." He plugged a flash drive into the computer. A list of metahumans appeared, that seemed to be unending. "The particle accelerator explosion was contained on my Earth. That didn't happen here."

"Then why wouldn't we know about other metahumans here?" Henry asked.

"Because of the Flash and Pyra," Caitlin answered.

"And now that everyone knows that they're not around..." Iris trailed off.

"They'll start coming out of the woodwork," Cisco finished.

"We don't know that," Henry told us.

"What more do you need?" Harrison asked. "I told you they'd recruit metahumans. We've seen them do that. I told you that they'd kill those officers. We saw Phoenix do that, too. What more do you need?"

Barry and I looked at each other knowingly, nodding.

"Let's do it," Barry told them.

I nodded. "We wanna do it. One of those cops that Phoenix killed tonight, he had a son. Same age I was when I lost my family in the fire. Now another kid has to grow up without someone from his family because Flyra weren't there to stop that monster."

"We left this city unprotected by giving up our powers to Zoom and Phoenix," Barry told them. "We enabled them to rule this Earth. We need our powers back."

I looked at Harrison, nodding. "Let's do it. Let's set off the particle accelerator."

~

Everyone was in the basement, getting ready.

Barry and I were suited up.

"So, how does this work?" Iris asked.

"It's an abbreviated version of the particle accelerator evil Wells built," Caitlin told us. "Except Harry is isolating the anti matter and dark energy to direct it to Barry and Vera instead of the entire city."

"Good," Joe told us. "Last thing we need is more metahumans running around Central City.

"So, Barry and Vera just get in, you turn it on, and that's it?" Cisco asked.

Harrison turned to face us. "Yeah. No. Not exactly. In addition to recreating what happened with the particle accelerator explosion, we also have to recreate what happened to Barry and Vera."

"Getting struck by lightning and burning alive," Barry told us.

"'Cause I haven't been burned alive enough," I told them sarcastically.

"Wait, so how are you gonna do that?" Iris asked. "It's not even raining outside, and you're willing to just set a girl on fire?"

"Ramon, you have the wand?" Harrison asked.

"The one I made for Mark Mardon?" Cisco asked.

"No, the one you built for the Harry Potter convention," Harrison told him sarcastically. "Yes, of course the one you built for Mardon."

"How do you know about that Harry Potter convention?" Cisco asked.

"Get the wand, get on the roof," Harrison told him.

"Why the roof?" Joe asked.

"Because we're gonna need a lightning rod," Harrison answered. "And that, Ramon, is going to be you."

Cisco went up. "All right, I'm on the roof. Wow. I've never actually been up here before. I think I can see my apartment from here."

"Now head straight to the satellite, Ramon," Harrison told him. "When I give you the signal, you're going to create a lightning storm above you."

"So I'm just supposed to stand here in the middle of a lightning storm?" Cisco asked.

"Really, Ramon, chances of being struck are slim, indeed," Harrison told him.

"Yeah, not when you're the one causing it," Cisco told us.

"All we need is one lightning bolt to strike the satellite," Harrison told him. "The satellite's circuitry's connected to the breach room. Barry's in the breach room. Just do it."

"Yeah, I'm doing it," Cisco told us. "Mozart better watch out. Cisco Ramon's about to conduct something nasty."

Barry and I got into the separate machine chambers with Caitlin's help.

"You're gonna feel these clamps, but they're necessary," Caitlin told us. "Are you okay?"

"I'm good," Barry told us. He looked at me. "Are you?"

I nodded. "We'll be fine, Barry. Whatever happens, it'll never change the way I feel about you."

Barry smiled a small smile, nodding. "Me, too. About you, I mean."

I chuckled.

"Are you sure about this?" Joe asked.

Barry sighed, nodding. "Yeah."

"You're gonna be okay," Iris told us.

Joe and Iris backed away.

Henry walked closer. "You don't have to do this if you don't want to."

"Being the Flash, that's the best version of me," Barry told him. "If I don't have my speed, I'll never be that person anymore."

"We're the only ones that can stop Zoom and Phoenix, but we can't do that without our powers," I told them. "We have to do this."

Henry nodded. "Okay."

Henry backed away.

"You ready?" Harrison asked. Barry and I nodded. "All right then. Here we go."

The glass door in front of our chambers closed to disconnect us from them so that the dark matter wouldn't hit them.

~

The building started to shake.

"The particles are becoming unstable," Harrison told us. "Ramon, get ready. I'm gonna release the chemicals into their systems."

The chemicals attached to our chambers were released into our bodies.

"Hold on, guys," Joe told us.

We were shaking.

"They're going hydrostatic," Henry told us.

"Almost there, almost there," Harrison told us.

"Wells!" Henry told him.

"Almost there," Harrison told us. "Ready, Ramon?"

"Ready," Cisco answered.

"Now," Harrison told him.

"Expecto patronum," Cisco told us. "Great Scott, it's working."

~

Third person

In the precinct, Quinn was handcuffed to the deal.

Hunter and Natalia were nearby, both without their masks on.

They could see the lightning storm from STAR Labs through the window, knowing what it meant.

Natalia was furious. "No!"

Quinn and Hunter looked nervous by the anger they saw in Natalia.

~

Barry was struck by lightning.

Vera's chamber started to spark until a fire started, starting to burn her alive.

Barry and Vera both started to scream in pain.

"Initiating collision," Harrison told them.

The dark matter made contact with them while Barry was being struck by lightning and Vera was being burned alive. It seemed to burn them out of existence completely.

Iris was horrified and in shock. "No!"

The dark matter was propelled through the glass doors, making Caitlin, Harrison, Iris, Joe and Henry fall.

~

Wally and Jessie were running down the corridor from exploding lights. The dark matter wave hit them, making them fall unconscious.

The glass doors opened to show the empty chambers.

Hunter zoomed out, leaving everyone in their horror and devastation.
