Chapter Two: The Young Prince
Primrose and Kaitlin ran through the fields. There were Sky Kids bustling around here and there.
Rose smiled softly and she closed her eyes for a moment. Kaitlin looked at her and giggled, "I don't think I haven't seen you this relaxed since that last run through Eden."
Rose shivered and grimaced behind her mask. "Don't remind me. That was a nightmare," she grumbled. Kaitlin smiled as she walked over to a few other Sky Kids.
Rose walked over to a Veteran Moth and took out her candle. They took out their candle and gently tipped the flame against hers.
They wore the Peeking Postman outfit, the Stealthy Survivor cape, and the Cackling Cannoneer mask and hair.
"Hello," they greeted with a smile, "I'm Ekos." "I'm Primrose," she smiled.
They chuckled, "ah yes. You are the brave Moth who treads the Eye of Eden and the Golden Wasteland without fear."
"That is an understatement of the world, Ekos," Rose chuckled, "but my friend and I are here for our daily assignments. I may need some help picking crystals." "Well I can help with that," Ekos smiled.
"Shall we go?" He asked. She nodded and they flew to the Jolly Geologist's cave.
Prirmose looked at the water nervously. She wished she hadn't switched her oxygen mask with the fox one. She grumbled softly. Ekos looked at her and chuckled, "you'll be fine."
She rolled her eyes and she dived into the water. Ekos dove in after her and the two swam through the water.
They swam through the cavern.
They made it to the surface before they walked out of the water. Ekos smiled at Rose who shook the water off of her. He jumped back and gave her a look, "really?" "I couldn't help myself," she smiled innocently.
He rolled his eyes with a smile. He looked around before he flew up to a Light Bloom. There were a few other Sky Kids sitting on the tree and chasing each other. Ekos looked around as he walked over to the crystal structure. Rose walked up beside him and she looked up at the crystal structure.
"It's beautiful," she said softly. Ekos nodded.
A young Sky Kid came running over to them, honking frantically. Ekos looked at them, "what's wrong, little one?"
The Sky Kid tugged on his cape and Rose furrowed a brow before the three flew over to a small spot in the cave. There was an unconscious Sky Kid laying against the rock. Rose widened her eyes and she ran over to them.
She knelt down and gently shook them, "hey, hey."
The Sky Kid moaned weakly. Rose furrowed her eyebrows before she carefully picked them up in her arms.
"Who is that?" Ekos asked worriedly. "I'm not sure," Rose replied, "we have to get them to a healer."
"I'll get someone, stay here," Ekos said before he ran to the water and dived down into it. Rose knelt down and held the Sky Kid close. He didn't have a cape.
She frowned in worry and nearly jumped when a few other Sky Kids came over. She subconsciously held the other Sky Kid close to her. He mumbled softly and slowly opened his eyes.
"Who is that?" "Where did he come from?" "Is he new?"
Rose looked at the Sky Kid. He yelped and quickly wriggled away from her. He crawled away, his back hitting the wall.
"Wh-who are you? Where am I?" He asked nervously. "Hey, hey," Rose said quickly, "it's okay. You're okay. You're safe. You were unconscious here. You're in the Jolly Geologist's cave."
"C-cave?" He murmured, "who are you?" "I'm Primrose," she said, slowly walking over to him, "can you tell me what your name is? How did you get here?"
"I-I...," he stammered and he looked down, gripping his arms. He took a deep breath, shaking a little, "my name is Alef."
Rose widened her eyes as the other Sky Kids gasped.
Alef... as in Prince Alef?
Rose slowly knelt down and she held her hand out to him, "well, Alef... you're safe here. I promise. No one is going to hurt you."
Alef looked at her hand before he looked at her before he leapt into her arms. She grunted in surprise and she looked at him as he buried his face into her chest. Her eyes saddened and she gently rubbed his head and back in comfort.
Ekos, Kaitlin and a Veteran Sky Kid ran over. Rose looked at them. Kaitlin furrowed her eyebrows in worry, "is he okay?"
"He's not hurt," Rose said, "just shaken up... and he's a little warm." The Veteran knelt down beside her and Alef and she gently touched his forehead. Alef whimpered softly, panting softly. He was definitely running a fever.
"I'll take him to Hidden Forest's Treehouse to help him," she said, gently picking him up. "I'll come with you," Rose said, standing up. Kaitlin looked at her, "you sure?"
Rose gave her friend a reassuring smile, "I'm sure. I'll meet you back at Daylight Prairie." Kaitlin nodded and Rose, the Veteran and Alef walked away.
Ekos frowned in worry and he hummed softly. He looked at the small group of Sky Kids. "Did he say anything unusual before we arrived?" He asked.
"He said that his name was... Alef," a Sky Kid said. Ekos froze, his eyes widening.
In Hidden Forest, in the Treehouse, the Veteran gently laid Alef down on the cot and gently dabbed his forehead with a cloth.
"He just needs to rest," she said. Rose nodded and she sighed softly. The Veteran walked outside. Rose looked at Alef and she gently touched his hand then she froze.
The six Elders stood in their temple. They were waiting for something. Or rather... someone. Sah let out a bored sigh and glared at the ceiling. "Where is she?" He groaned in annoyance.
"Hush, Sah," Teth hissed as she gave the twin Valley Elder a stern glare, "Megabird will arrive. Have some patience. And respect while you're at it."
Sah stuck his tongue out at the Forest Elder as Mekh silently giggled. Ayin chuckled. Everyone knew that Sah and Teth didn't always see eye to eye with each other, which was strange but it was entertaining to Tsadi.
There was a bright glow, accompanied by a chirp. Lamed smiled as the sky seemed to brighten up by the Megabird's presence.
Daleth, Ayin, Teth, Samekh and Tsadi knelt down, lowering their heads in respect. Lamed gazed up at the Megabird.
"Hello, old friend," a female voice echoed from the bright sky, "I have come, bearing gifts to you." Lamed blinked in surprise. Gifts?
From the Megabird herself?
The other Elders lifted their heads, surprised and curious about these new gifts.
"Er... with respect, great Megabird, but what are these gifts?" Tsadi asked, raising an eyebrow. Megabird seemed to chuckle softly before she waved a wing and two stars drifted from her feathers. Lamed widened her eyes and she held out her hands to catch the stars.
When she caught them, they were as light as a feather. Before anyone could say anything, there was a bright glow and Lamed yelped in surprise and the other Elders had to shield their eyes. Tsadi made an instinctive grab for his spear.
When the light faded, Lamed looked down in her arms and her eyes widened. There, in her arms, were two Sky Kids. Both of them were male and they were small and light in her arms.
The first boy yawned softly and rubbed his eyes. He had pure snow white hair and he was wearing the kind of clothes a Newborn Moth would wear. So was the second boy. He had pale yellowish-white hair. They both had pale, snow white skin.
They both opened their eyes and they were a bright and beautiful sky blue color.
Lamed stared at them. "A-are they...?" She began to ask, her voice above a whisper.
"They will be the first Princes of this Kingdom." Megabird said, "teach them. Guide them. Be patient with them."
"What are their names?" Mekh asked. Megabird hummed softly.
"Resh... and Alef."
Rose quickly pulled her hand away and she stared at Alef in surprise. Her eyes saddened and she exhaled softly and she sat down beside the cot and looked at the ceiling sadly.
