Chapter 4

:-----:
He fell forward, more cuts appearing on his body. The more he moved the more it hurts. He couldn't escape his fate as he screamed in agony ,pain ripping through his body. Blood started to pour more profusely to the cold floor. The world was getting darker to him and he could barely feel his limbs.
Someone please, save me.
:-----:

The room was huge. The ceiling was twenty feet above Sky's head with the walls stretching out about thirty feet. The room had more paintings at the opposite end of the room ,along with two huge statues on both sides of the room. Sky looked at it in awe and wonder.

How can Guertena do all of this?

Sky walked into the room, mesmerized by the works of art. He instantly forgot about the woman painting he found earlier, and how that terrified him. The statues resembled what were to be somewhat human ,but Sky couldn't tell. He was passing between the statues and got closer to the paintings on the other side. They were beautiful and had intricate images.

Sky looked at them in wonder, he got so close to the canvas that he could smell the dried paint. He then went to a painting at the right corner of the room that caught his eye.

Sky walked towards it to find out it was The Lady in Red. Like with the statue, Sky backed up thinking it would attack but it didn't even move.Sky got closer to it ,inspecting it thinking about the other painting back at the gallery. He thought about the dangers he's been in, especially the statue.

Just as Sky started to turn his back on it, the painting lurched off the wall. Sky jumped out of its way before it could land on him. The painting had only the lady's torso out of the painting, it seemed like it couldn't escape its framed prison. It had its hands for legs as it clawed at the ground ,turning itself to face Sky. Sky looked at it in horror as it started to go after him.

Sky flinched at its speed and ran for his life. The painting clawed after him at a surprising speed, but Sky kept running around the room. He weaved through the statues ,avoiding the hands that reached for his rose. Sky kept running, even when he was nearly out of breath.

As he ran, the painting kept coming close to grabbing the rose, but Sky always managed to get out of her reach. Sky kept running around the statues, trying to not get hurt anymore. He aimed to get out by the door he used to get in. It wasn't there.

The door seemed to materialize into the wall and it no longer was there. He kept running until he noticed a new door between two paintings. Sky tripped when he looked at the door.

The painting took this as a moment to grab at the rose. It was able to grab a handful of petals, only one remained on the stem. Sky screamed out in pain, more gashes and cuts appeared on him. Blood started to pour out of them as Sky regained his balance.

Pain blurred his vision but Sky was able to make out the door. He ran to the door, the painting still coming behind him and grasped the knob. The doorknob turned and allowed Sky inside the next room. He stepped inside and closed the door behind him, putting a barrier between him and the painting.

The painting slammed on the door as Sky leaned on it, sliding down into a sitting position. He struggled for air as his whole body ached and bled. He took the rose out of his pocket to find that only one petal remained, and he placed it back in his pocket.

The painting kept banging on the door, as Sky fought for consciousness. The world started to go black, but Sky kept himself awake.

The painting stopped banging on the door after a few minutes. Sky now sat in a small puddle of his blood, some of it soaking into his clothes. Sky felt like he could die, but something was keeping him alive.

He looked around the new room he was in to find bookshelves and another door at the end of the room. He pushed himself up ,using the doorknob as support. He left a little blood on the floor as he walked to the door. Writing appeared on it saying : HAVING FUN?

Sky ignored the note and just turned the doorknob. He pushed it open and looked at his surroundings. Two more halls going to the left and right with a blue vase on a table in the middle. Sky fell forward ,his whole body sore and aching.

No ,get up!

Sky pushed himself up and limped to the vase. He could barely read the note next to the vase as he leaned his weight on to the table. Sky looked into the vase to see it was full of water, then looked at his rose. Sky had an idea to put the rose in the vase, to see if it can regrow its beauty.

He took the rose in his bloody hand and placed it in the vase slowly. Sky looked at the rose, thinking about his grave situation. He then heard an odd sound, one that sounded like cracking.

Sky looked around the halls, only to see doors blocking what was beyond them. When he looked back to the rose it was glowing. It was glowing a bright yellow ,that was as bright as the sun. Sky covered his eyes as its glow became stronger each second.

Then as quickly as it appeared it disappeared. Sky lowered his hand to let his breath be taken away. His rose was completely healed, it had all its petals back like nothing ever happened, but it wasn't that that took his breath away. He felt no pain, all of it disappeared.

Sky was healed, every single mark on his body, along with the pain and aches, were gone, vanished from his body. Sky looked at his clothes which were spotless, then he looked at the rose. Something clicked in his mind, the rose acted as his life, if it loses its petals then it means a step closer to death for him. Then he read the note next to the vase:

Know the weight of your own life

Sky plucked the rose out of the vase and placed it back in his pocket. Sky breathed in a sigh of relief to know he was healed. He looked to his left and his right to decide which side to explore first.

Sky was filled with a new feeling to survive, if he ever wanted to see the real world again. He walked over to the right door which was his final decision and opened the door. There was a hallway expanding to another room at the end. There was nothing on the walls, but when Sky looked down he saw him. Sky saw a kid about his age on the floor ,laying in a pool of blood.

"Oh god." Sky said as he rushed to the side of the kid.

He wore a black and red checkered hoodie with short sleeves, and under that he wore a tan long sleeve shirt. He had blue jeans and red converse, and wore a gold dog tag. He had light brown hair and a somewhat tanned complexion, and his whole body was covered in open wounds. Sky frantically searched the kid's body and found nothing other than a lighter.

"Oh sh*t, oh f*ck." Sky said, thinking the kid could have a rose on him somewhere.

Sky checked if the boy had a pulse, he still had one. Sky got up from his kneeling position and decided he needed to save him.

"D-don't worry, I'll come back for you." Sky said as he pivoted on his heel and went to the other hall.

Sky felt his heart racing, he didn't know why he wanted to save this stranger. He didn't know the kid's name and yet Sky is trying to save him.

He stopped in front of the door and hastily opened it to reveal another room. There was another door to his left, Sky looked down to see blood and red and black rose petals littering the ground. Sky inhaled sharply and searched the room for a rose.

For those who are confused, Sky is looking for a rose that belongs to the kid. When Sky was gravely injured, he was always led to the belief that the rose had something to do with it. Then when Sky got healed along with the rose, he now believes that the roses are their life lines.

There was no rose in this room, but Sky didn't give up. He looked over to the door and hastily opened it. Sky only poked his head inside the room to see another painting. It looked exactly like the red lady but it was blue, and in its hands was a black and red checkered rose.

Sky gasped softly as he saw the new enemy but he quickly shut his mouth so he wouldn't alert it. He studied it from the door, but time was running out ,the rose only had so many petals. Sky had to think fast, so he thought to distract the painting then take the rose when it's looking away.

Pretty decent plan

Sky waited by the door for a moment, then he ran into the room. He left the door ajar so he can run back out, and ran towards the side of the painting.

It's head cocked up and its attention went from the rose to Sky. It dropped the rose and went after Sky. He was at first startled by the sudden chase but he kept running. It wasn't as fast the red lady but it was still fast.

Sky was able to keep out of its reach as he ran around the room, getting closer to the rose. After his third round around the room, Sky snatched the rose from the ground.

"Gotcha!" Sky yelled breathlessly.

The painting kept clawing after him as Sky made a break for it towards the door. He bolted out of the room and slammed the door behind him. The painting scratched and banged on the door, the door stood in place as Sky took a break. He rested his hands on his knees and panted.

He stayed in that position for a minute then stood up straight to look at the rose. There were barely any petals on the stem other than torn ones. If the rose wasn't torn then it would be just as beautiful as Sky's.

The rose had the same pattern as the kid's hoodie. Sky pondered on how to heal the kid until he remembered the blue vase in the other room.

Sky walked towards the room and entered the room. Sky looked over to the vase and walked closer to it. He remembered what happened when he did this, so he is placed his sunglasses over his eyes. He then placed the rose in the vase with a little splash.

Just like Sky's rose, it started to glow except that it was a bright red. At this point, Sky could see through the sun like glow and watched the rose regenerate.

Thanks to his sunglasses ,he could see the rose regrow the petals that were torn or lost. Sky watched astonished by this process that he completely forgot about the situation he was in. The cracking sound played over again but Sky was mesmerized by the rose.

Soon the glow ceased and left the perfect rose, but Sky stayed there hoping for it to happen again. He knew it wasn't going to happen again so sadly ,he plucked the rose out of the vase. He kept a firm grip on the stem and went into the hall where the kid was.

When Sky entered the room the kid was gone but the blood was still there. Sky was confused as to where the kid went until he was pinned to the wall.

Sky was roughly pushed on to the wall, the rose fell out of his grasp. It fell with a small thump in the floor as he crashed onto the wall.
