Starbucks Dating
Scott sat near the back of the Starbucks, hoping to spot the gorgeous brunette as he walked in. Scott scans the crowded café for his date but comes up empty. His phone jingles with a text message alert. He looks down to see a message from Alex.
Allie-Cat: Heyy! Where you at?
Scott weighs his options carefully. He can either; one, lie about his date as he knows how jealous Alex can get, or two, tell the truth and hope he doesn't get mad. He chooses the truth.
Scottie-Boy: Starbucks.
He didn't lie but he didn't tell the whole truth.
Allie-Cat: The one on 38th?
Scott sighs.
Scottie-Boy: Yup.
Allie-Cat: Mind if I join?
Scott can't help but cringe at the thought of the three of them at one table.
Scottie-Boy: Actually... I'm here with Mitch from the mall.
Scott sighs as he sends the text. He didn't want to hurt Alex's feelings, but he also didn't want him to come with them.
Allie-Cat: Okay. Well get me a Carmel Frap okay?
"Hey hottie. Do you know if there's a Beanpole around here?" Scott gasps, looking up from his phone. He sees his hot date standing with his hands flat on the table in front of Scott's phone, grinning wildly. Scott smiles up at him while locking his phone. "Actually I do." He says. The brunette looks impressed, sitting down across from Scott.
Scott follows him with his eyes, trailing from his face to his hips that disappeared below the table, then back to his face. "Hey." Scott greets as Mitch finally settles into the booth. "Hey Beanpole." Mitch says, smiling at him.
"What're you getting?" Scott asks, getting up from the booth. "Iced Grande Soy Triple." Mitch answers from memory. Scott grins, helping him from the seat. "What about you?" Mitch asks. "I just like Iced Coffee." Mitch grins. "Wow. You live life fierce don't you?" Mitch asks. Scott nods, chuckling.
"I have an idea. How about we order for each other?" Mitch suggests. Scott really likes the idea. "Sounds fun. Let's do it." Scott agrees.
They get up to the register and Mitch steps in front of Scott. "I want a regular, old, Iced Coffee." Mitch says, dramatically. "Okay... Name?" The barista with a name tag stating 'Kathy' asks. "Ummm....Beanpole." Mitch says, smirking back at Scott.
Scott sighs and rolls his eyes as Mitch steps out of line. "Hi." Scott greets, smiling at Kathy. "Hey. What would you like?" She asks, returning the smile. "An Iced Grande Soy Triple." Scott says. "Oh. And the name is Mitchelodeon." Scott says, thinking on his feet. Kathy raises a plucked eyebrow at the name but nods anyways. "Okay. That'll be six dollars even." Kathy says. Scott nods and pays the barista, walking over to Mitch.
"Mitchelodeon? Really?" Mitch says, laughing. "Yeah. Better than Beanpole." Scott teases.
"Beanpole!" Kathy calls out. Mitch smirks at Scott. "Go get your coffee Beanpole." Mitch says, nudging Scott's arm. Scott sighs and walks over to the bar to retrieve his Iced Coffee.
Kathy looks confused as Scott walks up to her. "Is that your boyfriend?" She asks, confused. "What? No. We're just getting coffee." Scott denies. Kathy smirks before saying softly, "I ship it." Scott blushes before walking over to Mitch. "She-"
"Mitchelodeon!" Kathy calls out again, interrupting Scott mid-sentence. Mitch smiles sweetly at Scott before going to retrieve his coffee. Kathy says something to Mitch that makes him blush and laugh. Mitch laughs all the way back to Scott.
"She says she ships us." Mitch says as he reaches Scott. Scott laughs saying, "That's what I was gonna tell you before she called your name, Mitchelodeon." Scott says. They laugh as they walk back to their booth in the back of Starbucks.
"Okay. So... What's your full name?" Mitch asks. "Scott Richard Hoying." Scott answers. "What about you Mitchie?" Scott asks. "Mitchell Coby Michael Grassi." Mitch answers. "Wow. Four names. Fancy fancy." Scott teases. Mitch blushes, sticking his tongue out at Scott.
"What's your favorite Artist?" Mitch liked EDM , but enjoyed a good Queen Bey song.
"Favorite color?" Mitch's favorite color is purple.
"Who're your parents?" Nel and Mike Grassi. Scott felt a twang of familiarity with the names.
"What'd you do for fun?" Mitch sings and DJ's at a bar downtown.
"Where's you grow up?" Scott had asked. "Arlington, Texas." Mitch had answered. "Arlington?! No way!" Scott exclaimed. "What high school did you go to?" Mitch said.
The two boys had gone to the same high school, hung out with the same crowd, musical theatre nerds, and gone to the same parties; yet never knew each other.
"Gentlemen, I'm gonna have to ask you to leave." A man in a Starbucks pollo and khakis interrupts the duo. Scott and Mitch look away from each other's eyes and see they have been leaning across the table with their hands conjoined. They look up to the man who so rudely interrupted their conversation.
"I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to ask you two to leave. You two have been loitering here for over an hour. Sorry." The man says. Mitch and Scott nod, grabbing their empty cups and heading towards the door. The gentleman nods after them as they close the door behind them.
They stop outside the door. "Where do you live?" Scott asks. Mitch raises a beautifully tamed eyebrows at Scott's question. "Do what?" He asks. "So I can walk you home..." Scott says. "Oh." Mitch says, blushing. "Yeah. Okay. It's uhh... I live in an apartment building. On 20th Street." Scott nods, coming up with a mental picture of the way there. "Alright Mitchie. Lead the way." Scott says.

"This was fun." Mitch says, leaning against his door. Scott nods, smiling at his date. "We should go out again sometime." Mitch suggests. Scott nods enthusiastically. "Totally!" Scott agrees. "But I want to plan it. I want to make it all nice and fancy." Scott said, getting excited. "Okay okay. Patience Grasshopper." Mitch said, quoting John Green. Scott laughs softly.
"Well I guess I'll go then. Got a lot of planning to do." Scott says, smiling at Mitch. Mitch's smile drops slightly. "Okay." He says. "Well text me when you figure everything out." Mitch says. "No! It's gonna be a surprise!" Scott says. Mitch nods. "Okay. Sounds fun." Scott senses his change in mood and decides to take a leap of faith.
Scott wraps his long arms around Mitch's waist and brings his lips to Mitch's. It was a short but sweet kiss that left both men wanting more. Scott pulls away, smiling stupidly at his date.
"Maybe next time I can stay a while Mitchie." Scott says, walking away from the stunned brunette. "Yeah. That'd be nice." Mitch says to no one.
