Jisung woke up so the quiet chippers of birds outside the window and the hushed voices of his friends talking in the kitchen. The sun was shining brightly through the see through glass surfaces, making beautiful golden streaks of light shine through the room, picking up all the dust particles.
For a moment, just one tiny peaceful moment, Jisung felt ok. He didn't think about everything that went wrong yesterday, nor did his heart twist in guilt and sorrow.
But once that moment passed, everything hit again at once. Tears formed in Jisung's eyes, but he didn't let them fall. He had shed far too many tears already. The boy's chest started to ache again, physically torturing Jisung as punishment for what he had burdened upon his loved one.
Jisung sighed sadly, waddling into the kitchen in the oversized clothes Chan had borrowed him the previous night. The faint whispers were now picking up, becoming stronger and more audible.
Jisung didn't care to listen to what they were talking about. In all honesty he wanted nothing but to fade back into a dreamland where everything could be perfect again, like it once was.
"Hey Jiji, how you holding up, love?" Hyunjin sweetly said, hugging Jisung and kissing the crown of his head in a motherly way.
Hyunjin was always so loud, dramatic, reckless and annoying, except for when it came to his friends' well being. Within the blink of an eye the taller could turn into the mother of the group, making anyone feel more comfortable than they'd ever been.
Jisung shook his head softly, not wanting to talk as he circled his arms around Hyunjin's waist, laying his head on the latter's shoulder.
A big hand softly massaged Jisung's shoulder, going down to rub his back from time to time.
"Would you like something to drink? You look exhausted." Chan softly asked.
Jisung let Hyunjin go and nodded his head softly, trying to force a small smile.
Chan smiled back, going to the fridge to pick up a carton of chocolate milk, pouring Jisung a glas. He handed it over to the latter, seeing Jisung eyeing the drink in confusion.
"My mom used to always give me chocolate milk when I was upset, and as stupid as it is it always made me feel better." Chan chuckled.
Jisung forced a smile and mouthed a small 'thank you' before taking a sip of the chilly and sweet drink.
Felix, whom had kept silent until now, stepped up, taking Jisung's hand in his own. He chewed softly on his lip, gaze flickering around.
"Jisung, do you wanna take a seat. I need to pass onto you a message from mom." Felix softly said.
Jisung looked at Felix, scared, but took a seat by the kitchen counter either way.
"First, know that Minho is totally ok. He's doing perfectly fine, ok? Nothing's gonna happen to Minho." Felix softly started, looking into Jisung's eyes.
Jisung gulped, nodding his head.
"Ok..."
"My mom told me that last night, after everyone had gone to sleep... Minho tried to overdose the baby on painkillers."
Jisung gasped softly, his eyes filling with tears again.
"My parents took him to the E.R., where Minho got treatment for the poisoning. The fetus died from the poisoning, but Minho is totally fine. He's doing perfectly fine." Felix cupped Jisung's cheek with one hand, wiping his tears, while his other hand held Jisung's close to his chest.
"He's in the h-hospital?" Jisung asked through tears and hyperventilating breaths.
"He's perfectly fine, dear. Minho is safe. He's healthy again. I promise." Felix hugged Jisung softly.
Jisung cried once again. He was blaming himself for everything that had happened. Why couldn't he have just remembered to put on a damn condom! Why couldn't he have just pulled out!
Everything was Jisung's own fault in his mind. He was the one to impregnate Minho. He was the one to make Minho hate him. He was the cause Minho's in the hospital.
"C-Can I see him?" Jisung croaked out, hiccupping softly.
Felix blinked away tears of his own, sighing softly.
"I don't think that's a good idea, Jiji. Minho must be very confused and emotional." Hyunjin whispered as he caressed Jisung's back.
"I-I... I need to see that he's ok." Jisung tightened his grip on Felix's neck.
"How about we come with Felix to the hospital later today. We can talk to Minho's mom." Chan suggested.
Jisung nodded his head quickly, continuing to cry on Felix's shoulder for a while.
---
"Hey, were here for Lee Minho." Felix told the lady at the front desk.
"Are you family of his?" The last asked, typing on her computer.
"Yes, his brother, and his boyfriend. And with two emotional support friends." Felix told her, pointing to first Jisung, then the other two.
"Very well. He's in room 543. It's down that hall and two floors up." The lady smiled sadly at the group, pitying them.
Felix held Chan's hand as they led the way through the hospital, with Hyunjin guiding Jisung along after them.
The latter was looking down, feeling terrible. How could he face Minho's family after what he had done. How was he supposed to face Minho. What if Minho never forgives him? What if he never gets to see Minho again.
Felix knocked softly on the door they had been directed to, waiting for it to open.
Minho's mom opened the door, smiling apologetically at the group.
"Hey dear, how you holding up?" She asked Felix, hugging him sadly.
"I'm fine. How's Minho?" Felix silently said back.
"He's doing fine. He's resting now." The woman told her son.
Felix gestured inside the room, to which his mother moved out of the way to let Felix and Chan enter.
Jisung looked down the whole time, not dating to look at the mother of the boy he had put in the hospital. He felt like coming to the hospital was a bad idea, why did he even come.
"Oh dear. Are you ok? Please don't cry, Minho's perfectly ok." Mrs. Lee embraced Jisung, immediately making him break down.
The woman rocked Jisung back and forth, petting his head through the hood of his hoodie.
"Do you wanna come see him? He's asleep right now." Mrs. Lee asked Jisung, wiping his tears.
Jisung looked up, scared.
"Really?"
"Yes, of course. He's your boyfriend. No matter what stupid lies he told you yesterday. I know he still loves you, dear."
Jisung nodded softly, letting the woman wrap her arm around him and bring him inside.
Jisung looked around once inside the room, making eye contact with Minho's father and grandmother whom were sitting on the small couch together with Chan and Felix.
The two grown ups sent him apologetic smiles, to which he forced a small smile back, trying not to break down again.
Mrs. Lee squeezed Jisung's shoulder before leaving him to walk the last few feet up to Minho's bed by himself.
Jisung drew a deep breath, twisting his fingers together as he slowly walked up to Minho's bed, looking anywhere but his face.
Minho had wires hooked up to his chest and arm, with an iv-drip and a heart monitor hovering over his bed. The white hospital gown made Minho's skin look tan, but Jisung could easily tell that the elder was paler than usual.
Jisung sat down beside Minho, softly grabbing his free hand. Jisung held onto it with both of his own, raising it to his lips to softly kiss it, later just letting it rest on his lips.
Silent tears rolled down Jisung's face, hitting Minho's arm and the covers he was laying on.
Jisung's gaze flickered down to his lover's stomach. The fetus that was previously growing strong in there, was now laying dead in his lover, waiting to get disposed in Minho's natural bodily processes. His baby, was dead in there.
Jisung softly touched Minho's stomach with one hand, caressing it through the fabric. His eyes stayed on the latter's stomach, making Jisung feel guiltier by the second.
Minho's heart rate picked up, as the latter softly shuffled around.
"He's waking up." Mrs. Lee smiled softly.
Jisung quickly stood up, stepping away.
"I-I need to leave." Jisung muttered, breathing heavily.
"What, dear no! Stay! He-"
"He hates me. I need to leave. I've caused him so much pain already." Jisung quickly said, hurrying out the door.
"Jisung-"
"I'll go home with him. You stay a little longer." Hyunjin told everyone, especially Felix and Chan, before hurrying out the door, rushing after Jisung.
