You walk to the back of the bus and sit next to Jade. Across from you are John and that kid, Dave. You wave sheepishly at Dave but he doesn't notice you. You roll your eyes and look at the window and watch the scenery you pass by. You guess you kind of blank out because the next thing you hear fade into your line of hearing is what you once again believe to be Karkat.

"Hey, hey. Hey there! You! Asshole who isn't listening to me! Ponytail!" You turn away from the window and look towards the front where his voice is coming from and see a troll with nubby horns staring at you. You didn't notice before that he was a troll, since after his rude remark you didn't bother to look at him. However you should've known he was a troll, Karkat isn't really a human name. Wow. You have just seen your first troll in person, and what a great first impression he has made (not). You also notice there is another troll sitting next to him. You guess that while you were off in La-la Land the bus made another stop. She had a pixie cut of sorts, which suited her slender face and was some how fabulously pulling off a bright jade colored lipstick.

"Hey!" Karkat shouted again and snapped in your face. You blinked a couple of times and looked up at him and slightly raised an eyebrow. "I said, Kanaya wondered what your name was." he said obviously annoyed with you. "[Y- Y/N]. [L/N]." you stutter. The jade blood speaks up, "Well [Y/N], I assume you're new here, am I right?" you nod in reply, "Ok, well as mentioned before I am Kanaya and this is Karkat." She gestures to him and he grunts. "I would like to tell you I am very found of your iridescent backpack." You smile, "Thanks! And I love your skirt." "I made it myself." she replies quite proudly. "Meh, I guess. I can't wait to see how fucked up it looks by the end of the year though. Waste of money." You hear the pissed off troll mumble with his arms folded across his chest as both he and Kanaya face back towards the front. "Well that's not nice Mr. Grumpy Gills!" you hear a cheerful voice from in front of you say. You then see a pair of horns, eyes with goggles, thick black hair, and gray gills poke out from behind the seat in front of you, you assume that she must be a sea dweller. "Feferi Peixes, and concestly, I disagree with everyfin he's said to you. I'm sorry if he's giving you a harsh time." She reached her hand over the back of the chair so you could shake it.

However just as you were about to shake her hand the bus suddenly comes to a jerk and stops. Jade takes out her earbuds and puts away her phone. "We're here!" she says excitedly. You look out the window to see the school right in front of you "Skaia High- Home of the Mighty Green Suns!" You guess the first bell to let people in hasn't rung yet, since there wasn't anyone inside and everybody was in the courtyard hugging with old friends, asking how everyone's summer went, etc. "Cmon [Y/N]! We have about ten minutes for me to show you some of my friends!" She takes your hand and drags you off the bus, Karkat, Kanaya, and Feferi following behind the two of you. However, John stayed a bit further behind the group, talking to Dave.

You walk into the courtyard and walk very close to Jade, slightly nervous, as she gets waves and high fives from some people and you get odd looks from others. Finally all of you stop in front of a girl who seems to be goth. "[Y/N], this is Rose, and vise versa, she is the new girl I told you about last night Rose." Rose looks up and smiles warmly, "Why hello, it's a pleasure to meet you." You nod, "Same to you." "Rose!" Kanaya pipes up from almost the back of the group. "I didn't mean to interrupt but I haven't seen you all summer." she says as she walks to the front slowly with her hand behind her head, "And uh-" "Say no more Kanaya." Rose answers and blushes slightly and hugs Kanaya, the trolls head resting on Rose's shoulder. "They're matesprits." Feferi whispers in your ear from behind you. "Aren't they the cutest couple in the deep blue sea?" You look back at her with slight confusion, "M-matesprits?" you ask. You see Karkat roll his eyes and glare at him, it's not your fault, you're just new at this, that's all. Then, you feel a tap on your arm and turn to Jade who makes a heart with her hands. You mouth 'Ooh' at her, remembering what she taught you about quadrants, you just weren't familiar with the proper names yet.

Once the two girls came out of the seemingly long hug the school bell rang and you and your newly found friends turn to two big metal doors to the building swing open as students start to pour in. John stops talking to Dave and looks up at the doors. "Aww, time to go in already?" He whines. "It seems so." Rose replies squinting at the doors. "Cmon then fuckasses, let's get a move on." Karkat gestures everyone to follow his lead as you all walk towards the doors. "Got your schedule?" Jade asks you. You nod in reply and pat your backpack, "Right here." "Ok good. You might want to take it out now since your locker number and combination should be on there as well." You take your backpack off your shoulders and hold it in front of you as Jade unzips it for you. Now where the hell is your schedule? You didn't have that much stuff in your backpack anyways. Your matching lunchbox, a weekly planner, The Problem Sleuth (Novel addition, obviously. You were never that into looking at a bright screen and not being able to point at the words on your laptop.), a pencil pou-

"OOF!" You hear yourself huff as the wind is knocked out of you and you fall over. "[Y/N]!" Jade runs over to you obviously sounding concerned, however, you couldn't see her, your face on the ground and you can feel a ton of weight on top of you. You hear lots of footsteps going towards you, great, everyone in the little clique or whatnot and even more had probably just witnessed your fall. "Wow [Y/N], that was a huge spill you took there." You hear John say as you feel his hands on yours as he tries to pull you up, but the weight is still on you. After a good 30 seconds of pulling you hear a "THUD" right next to you and Karkat and Dave start to snicker. John probably just made a fool of himself and fell on the ground. "Cmon Latula, get off her!" John orders. "No way man, not until she apologizes!" you hear a slightly raspy girl reply. "Apologize for what exactly?" Kanaya asks. "For not getting out of my way when I was gonna try I totally rad move on my new skateboard. Not cool man." You try to mumble sorry, but as mentioned before, your face was in the dirt and couldn't talk or see for shit. You hear Dave stop dead in his laugh and say "Talk about not cool, Latula." you groan and try to nod in agreement with Dave. Suddenly the sound of footsteps approach you again, but this time, from the other direction. "Yes Latula," you hear a new voice say, he sounded very monotone and older than everyone near you, was the girl on you older, too? "that is very 'not cool.' You should get off her right now before you trigger her any further than you have already." Suddenly, you feel this "Latula" chick get off you and you are pulled up off the ground and open your eyes as you are now face to face with a new troll. He had a face and horns similar to Karkat, however he was taller, had more hair, wore a bright red sweater, and not to mention was nicer and more sophisticated. "Now Latula," he lets go of your hands turned again to the girl who you could finally see, although you were very mad at her at the moment, you had to admit that you like her red glasses and teal dress. "what have I told you about safety for yourself and others? Like I was often taught as a wriggler-" "EVERYONE, QUICK RUN INTO THE BUILDING BEFORE MY FUCKASS OLDER BROTHER PREACHES TO US ABOUT SAFETY SHIT AND IT WILL KEEP US OUT HERE UNTIL FUCKING 3RD PERIOD." Karkat shouts, interrupting the red sweatered troll. Everyone runs inside except you, Karkats brother and John, who was still on the ground, picking up your things for you, which you found awfully nice of him. You see the older, abandoned troll twitch his head to the side take a breather and then turns to you and shakes your hand. "I'm afraid that wasn't the greatest way to meet someone, let me introduce myself. I'm Kankri Vantas, you?" "[Y/N] [L/N]." you reply. "Well Ms. [L/N], hopefully I can see you around sometime, I would stay and chat more but I am feeling very triggered right now because everyone left, so I'm going to go. Have a nice day." He waves goodbye to you and walks off slightly agitated.

You sat back down on the grass next to John and helped him put everything back in your lunchbox and backpack. "Well that was awkward." John said to you nodding over to Kankri. You laugh slightly, "Yeah, no dib Sherlock." you reply as he stands up. "Elementary my dear Watson." he says in a cheesy British accent as he offers you his hand so you can get up. "Why thank you kind sir." you say in an accent as well and you both walk in the building together.

You have a feeling it will be a long day...
