TFP Teaser - An Ordinary Day in Piliphala

Summary: Just an ordinary day in the faerie world.  Who knew you could miss one of those?
Word Count: 891
Notes: Already posted to Tumblr, but I wanted to share it with you guys here too!  As I said there I've been doing some writing to get me back in the groove but a lot of what I'm writing is very spoilery... so uh yeah can't share that obviously XD

On this day, the morning was brought forth with a most pleasing colour palette. Pastel pinks and vibrant golds accompanied the sun on its daily climb into the sky. And as it rose, its warm light began to shine through leaves, stone, ocean, snow; a signal for many to begin their day. Or, if that didn't work, Piliphalan birds would begin their song, and that would usually succeed in waking the last few out of their slumber.

In each Colony, the Advedti and Vice Advedti would begin to hand out tasks for the day. Sleepy faeries with droopy wings would accept these missions and gather in groups to complete them. Many would leave their respective Colonies to travel someplace else at this time, whether it be through flight, step, or an Astro faerie portal. In Cylsteya, a common gathering place for faeries of all Colonies to congregate, morning meals would be had. That's not to say all would eat there. Many prefer to stay within their own Colonies; but wherever meals are had, they are always eaten pleasantly. Either with close friends, or with a rare peaceful silence that is not often seen on the faerie continent.

Throughout the day, faeries would travel here and there for their jobs. Sometimes they would work in Piliphala, at their own or other Colonies. Or sometimes they would leave to travel to the human part of the planet, or even beyond it. Jobs depend on the Colony a faerie belongs to, of course. While Astro faeries go to the great beyond in their grand search for infinity and to monitor the stars, Aquo faeries remain to regulate the world's water. Floro faeries are always spread out in order to keep alive the green of their planet, but will always, always, always return home when the sun sets. If they don't come back, the entire Colony searches far and wide. It's not due to rules... it's due to worry. Worry about family.

Faeries of different roles don't have the traditional schedule that regular faeries have. Clerici faeries stay within their Colonies to keep everyone healthy. The Advedti and Vice Advedti are usually all over the place, trying to monitor the Colony activity. The Ledesti are usually as present as they can be; they try to do what's best for the good of the Colony. If they have any inkling of spare time in their day, they use it to help out their faeries.

The Minesti are the only ones who really do as they please, given their status. They have the choice to do nothing, yet they somehow do more than everyone else. A lot of their time is spent teaching magic to new faeries, and performing tasks that ordinary faeries cannot even dream of completing with their magic level. As the sun rises to its highest point, the group of them can often be seen eating together. In fact, that is a common trait amongst them; they are rarely alone.

Midday meals are eaten by faeries. Some of them return home, wanting a break from their long day, or some of them are taking breaks with each other. Those who venture into the human world sneak peaks at humanity, seeing how they are developing without them. For those who were born there, the world may be very different, and for those whose first steps were in Piliphala, seeing humanity brings about new perspectives. Younger faeries like to fool around, having fun while carrying out their missions, while older faeries are more stuck in their ways; perhaps they've earned it after all their years of service.

Clouds shift and the breeze blows, and time continues to flow. The sky brightens, then darkens again, beautiful colours as the sun prepares to descend. Last meals of the day are had by those still awake enough to eat them. Some faeries are tired from their long day's work, planning to use their compensation to take a day off and fall deep into an early sleep. Or what will usually happen, most faeries gather at Cylsteya for an evening dance. Cylsteya is a place that never ceases to be full of faeries, and at night is when the festivities really take off. Music and beautiful voices fill the air, and there is nothing but laughter and dance. The square is never over-filled though. It is always just enough faeries that attend, and the atmosphere is the same every time. But then there are the nights when there are true, one-off festivals, and those are the nights that are really worth remembering. Because there, a frown simply doesn't exist, because your eyes see so much light you go blind, your ears hear so much song that you go deaf, your heart feels so full that it may burst. But no matter how the night ends, every faerie goes to sleep restfully, the stars watching them rest and prepare for a new day to come.

...

A cold breeze shifts through the human's hair. "You sound so remorseful."

The faerie's wings droop, his smile sad. "I never thought I would be so wistful for just one ordinary day, that's all."

The human remains silent, her gaze fixed on the sad faerie boy beside her. Her heart breaks for him when he continues.

"Sorry, I... I just... I never want to forget."

An actual update post will be out shortly!  I've got something else to show you guys today :)
