Chapter Two

As I walked out of the auditorium with Em, I looked around at all the people walking around the Institute, all dressed in the colors of their powers. "Wow, there are so many people here. Are they all students?" I asked Em. He shook his head. "No, not all of them." He pointed to the ones in white.

"The men and women dressed in white are Superiors that have all surpassed their magic and they are at the highest level and they help others out with any struggles they may encounter along the way." I smiled. That's great. Since they are more powerful and literate, they can teach us right from wrong. I turned to Em.

"I'm going to head back to my room. See you." Going back, I opened and closed the door behind me, letting my hair out of its ponytail and fluffed it with my hands, going over to the balcony. I played with my hair, deep in thought that I didn't hear Headmaster Raphael appear behind me. He cleared his throat. "Is this a bad time?" I jumped. "Headmaster! I'm sorry, I was slightly lost in thought." He chuckled. "How are you settling in, Caroline? Is everything alright?" I smiled.

"It's just...all so new to me, I'm feeling a little overwhelmed actually knowing magic exists." He smiled warmly. "It's natural to get a bit of jitter at a new school, but I suppose learning about powers and evil kind of...makes it more frightening to first years." I smiled sheepishly, a little embarrassed. "I never even realized a place like this existed, let alone, having powers and spells...it's scary to think of, but at the same time, I like it." I grinned.

Headmaster Raphael chuckled. "You are exactly like your mother when she first came to Wixsity." I blinked. Mom? He stared at me. "Is everything alright?" I was flabbergasted. "Did you just say my mother came to Wixsity Institute? Really?" He nodded. "Yes, she was one of our first students at Wixsity." My eyes grew wide. How did she not say anything to me? Does that mean I was destined to be here?

"I have so many questions now, Headmaster." He smiled. "Perhaps we shall converse at another time? It's almost time for class." I nodded. "Yes, Headmaster." He disappeared, and I let out a shaky breath I didn't know I had been holding. To find out that mom also came here to Wixsity, I wonder what other secrets my family has been keeping from me.

I shook my head. I can't ponder on this now, I need to get to class. Eyeing the clock, I grabbed my schedule and ran out of the room, brushing my hair with my hands. I came to the dome opening in the hallway, and looked around for the class, checking my schedule again.

Magical training/Discovering your Main Element

Hall A, Room One

Looking above me, I saw two arrows were pointing left and right, but they were directed outside of the school. I raised an eyebrow.

Didn't Headmaster Raphael say that students weren't allowed outside because it was dangerous?

I walked to the shining gold-framed door and was going to push it open when I felt a small buzz, and I was frozen in place. A Superior walked towards me, his arms folded behind him. "What exactly are you trying to do, first year?" He discharged the magic surrounding me, and I turned around. "I am trying to find Hall A, Room One for Magical Training lesson, sir."

He was puzzled, crossing his arms. "Headmaster gave specific rules for students never to go out alone. Why is it that you want to leave? Your class is not outside." I pointed to the arrow above. "Then why is that arrow pointing outside?" He glanced behind him and chuckled. "That arrow is not signaling that you go out. It is telling you to go there. Didn't you see the curve?" I looked to where the Superior directed, and gasped as I saw a large hole in the dome. "Ahh, I must have missed it. My apologies." He smiled. "That's quite alright, you're new here. Now, you'd best get to the lesson before you're late." I nodded and hurried off. "Thank you!"

I ran towards the large hole, and transported to my first class, seeing ten students standing in perfect rows chatting amongst each other. Taking an empty space near the front, I looked around, seeing if Em was in the same class, but it didn't seem like he was. Everyone quieted down as the room began to illuminate, a Superior appearing from the glow, clearing his throat.

"Hello, students! Welcome to the Magical Training class. My name is Mr. Garich." I gazed at him. So Mr. Garich is the man who helped me find this class... I smiled. Wow...when Em said they were helping students, I didn't know that he meant teaching the class!

Mr. Garich put his hands behind him and walked toward every student, surveying their expressions and body language. "Now then, is everyone ready to find out their Element?" A chorus of "Yes, Mr. Garich!" was heard all around. I stayed silent, pondering how this would play out. Mr. Garich stood at the front of the class. "Very well, students, one at a time, all of you will come forward and focus very hard on one thing only and focus it on emotion. It can be anything, family, pets, food, just as long as you concentrate hard, we will find out your true Element. Let's start at the front!"

One by one, each student went forward and displayed their power, yet the sheer energy of all their emotions created chaos in the room, with blazing fires, tornadoes, tsunamis, and hurricanes. I went to the front and closed my eyes, concentrating on my family, my mom, dad, and my siblings. Feeling warmth rise up, I let go, fire blazing in the room, then the fire dissipated, calmly. I smiled, confident in my firepower, my spirit ablaze with determination.

From this point on, I knew that anything was possible and I was all but determined to succeed, both in life and at Wixsity. Heart, drive, confidence, soul, passion, and commitment to my powers were the very things I needed, and each one of those was in my spirit. I resumed my place, witnessing the other students' powers firsthand and feeling everyone's energies in the room increase, and I felt at home.
