Chapter 31
Note: This will be a longer chapter
Warnings: Violence, deaths, blood, gore, censored swear, you get the point. Probably wouldn't read if you're too squeamish... But for those who can take it, enjoy :)
(For those who decide to skip, I'll put a short summary of the fight at the bottom of the chapter)
~3rd P.O.V.~
While the dark versions take a moment to catch their breath, Preston, Rob, Lachlan, Vikk, Jerome, and Mitch all switch places. Mitch and Jerome, being the closest, pass up by each other as quickly as they can. Now it's Mitch against DJerome and Jerome against DMitch. Using common sense, Lachlan scrambles away from DLachlan, dragging himself over to DPreston. Preston takes the place of Rob, pairing himself up with DRob. As Vikk moves to take on DLachlan, Rob replaces him, facing off against DVikk. Now the matchings are:
Mitch vs DJerome
Jerome vs DMitch
Lachlan vs DPreston
Vikk vs DLachlan
Rob vs DVikk
and
Preston vs DRob.
All twelve of them take a good thirty seconds to regain their composure and stare down their new opponents. And then... Mitch makes the first move. (P.s. Keep in mind all the fights happen at the same time)
Mitch whips out his bow, the weapon materializing in his hands. Pulling back the string, and arrow appears and he shoots the light arrow directly at DJerome, just as everyone spreads out to deal with their own fights. DJerome, its hollow black eyes narrowing, ducks under the arrow with a growl. It furiously raises its axe above his head, rushing towards Mitch with an earsplitting roar. Mitch smiles. He can tell DJerome's attacks are powerful, but it uses them with no strategy or planning, unlike the real Jerome. The axe swings down towards Mitch's head -predictable- and Mitch easily sidesteps, pivoting and kneeing DJerome in the jaw. DJerome snarls in rage, dropping the axe, and shooting a close range shadowball directly at Mitch. Mitch's eyes widen, and he barley manages to drop to the ground before the shadows strikes him squarely in the chest. Okay... Maybe I underestimated it a little... Mitch realizes, scowling and catching DJerome's fist, before it can connect with his temple. But nonetheless, for the most part Mitch can block or dodge most of DJerome's attacks. And from its previous wrestling with Jerome, DJerome is wearing out. Fast.
DJerome yelps in pain as Mitch sweeps its feet out, and elbow drops it with all his weight. With a whimper, DJerome coughs, small amounts of blood spurting out. Mitch leaves room for no mercy, immediately following up by whipping out his sword, and slashing across DJeromes thighs, rendering it unable to stand- let alone attack- on the ground. DJerome howls in pain, desperately launching shadow balls in every which direction. Mitch grunts, ducking under, impaling, and slicing the shadows in order to reach DJerome, flailing on the ground. But it's not long before he pulls back an arrow at full strength, and the arrow streaks forward, sinking into DJerome's skull with a sickening crack. DJerome instantly falls limp, and Mitch watches caked in blood, sweat, and dirt as DJerome's body hits the ground, and vanishes in a cloud of black smoke. Exhausted, Mitch slumps down on the ground, and tries to regain his breath.
DRob grunts in frustration, being forced to jump back as Preston nears it, at an obvious disadvantage due to the sweltering heat of Preston's skin. I can't let him get too close... DRob concludes, trying to trip Preston with grass. The grass burns instantly. DRobs eyes widen as it sees a pillar of fire heading directly for its face. It rolls to the side, hissing in pain at the heat burns it... Even though it doesn't touch it. It pushes itself back to its feet, nimbly lashing out its vines in attempt to grab Preston. Do DRob's delight, it manages to catch Preston fairly quickly, and hoist him in the air. With all its might, DRob slams Preston back down onto the ground beside itself, vines squashing him on the ground. He grunts in pain, glaring daggers at DRob out of the corner of his eye.
"Nighty night." DRob snickers, begging to push down forcefully with his vines. Bad move.
Suddenly, smoke fills its nostrils, and DRob's eyes widen as it realizes why it had been so easy to take down Preston. Because Preston did it on purpose. While DRob had been focused on its victory, in catching and near to killing Preston, it hadn't noticed the brightening glow of Preston's skin. And now DRob gasps as it notices the lines of fire snaking up its vines, now dangerously close to its arms.... And dry, flammable clothing.
DRob stumbles back in alarm, desperately trying to drop the vines. But it's too late. The fire has caught on its clothing now, and DRob cries out in agony, trying to shake off the fire, which only makes it spread faster. Preston watches with a sick smile, feeling a little dizzy, but determined to stay awake while he watches DRob get roasted. Literally. The fire streaks high into the sky, now having encompassed DRobs entire body, making it a walking, blazing, torch. DRob's screams of anguish and pain fill the air, and it drops to its knees, clutching at its burning face with equally bad hands. DRobs skin, only visible through small gaps in the fire, is charred, bleeding, swelling, and pretty much melting. In a few minutes... DRob is nothing more than a pile of ash on the ground. Preston grins, satisfied his work, and succumbs to unconscious. After all, it's not like it didn't hurt when DRob was sandwiching him between the vines and the earth.
Meanwhile Rob, fighting DVikk, is stuck wondering how on earth he's supposed to beat it. He can dodge easily, that's not too much of a problem since he can use his vines to get out of nearly anything, but it's actually getting at DVikk that's stumping him. He's tried using grass knots to keep it in place. That works for a couple seconds, but then DVikk will slow down time and untie itself faster than an ocelot splashed with speed. Rob tries to lash out and grab DVikk, which if he could succeed in, might spell out his success. But when he tries that, a wall of earth spikes block his vines, and there no way those flimsy things can break through three-block thick walls. Flower minions don't do too much either, since there's like no flowers anywhere. Tree minions... Again since they're in a plains biome, there isn't really a chance.
Rob winces in pain as an earth spike catches his side, cutting through his hoodie and into his skin. He looks down as blood seeps through the blue fabric. Ugh, I don't know if I'm going to be able to beat DVikk. My powers aren't doing anything, and I can't get close enough to enable him in pvp! Maybe I should switch with someone- Rob's thoughts are abruptly cut off by a dark light arrow sailing dangerously close to his head. Okay, nevermind. DVikk it is. I just have to think this through a bit more... And so Rob spends the next few minutes maneuvering around DVikk, looking for openings and patterns in its attacks. He knows he won't be able to attack DVikk from long range. He'd have to get up close and personal. Maybe a first fight, sword fight... The best case would be if Rob can trap DVikk in his vines. Although Rob suffers from multiple cuts and bruises now, he thinks, and hopes, he's gotten a good plan down. It's do or die at this point.
Rob whips out his vines, and DVikk blocks by creating a wall- as expected. Rob then does what Preston might do, using his vines his launch himself on top of the wall. DVikks eyes widen in surprise when he sees Rob on top of its own attack, DVikk wasn't expecting it. At the perfect angle, Rob whips out his sword and tilts it so the bright sun above reflects off of it, shining directly into DVikks empty black eyes. DVikk shouts out in surprise and pain, stumbling back a few steps and shielding its eyes. Well that worked better than I expected, I thought it wouldn't be affected because of its black eyes. Rob realize happily, hopping down like a predator about to make a meal of its prey.
Rob lands directly on top of DVikk, who can't even slow down time to try and stop him. With a combination of grass knots, vines, and his own body weight, Rob pins it to the ground with ease. DVikk is just as short as normal Vikk, making it all the easier. Now that Rob's this close to DVikk, it can't use its spikes to try and defend itself, or it'd end up hitting itself too. And Rob's already rendered DVikk's limbs immobile, so there's pretty much nothing it can do right now to stop him. DVikk squirms beneath Rob, but it's no use. Rob hastily pulls out his sword, holding the edge against its neck.
"Herobrine will kill you!" DVikk rages, glaring at Rob with pure hatred.
"Au contraire, my friend." Rob retorts, pressing harder into its throat with his blade, "We're going to kill him."
And with that Rob finishes it off, slitting through its throat and letting the blood spill as DVikks head rolls back, and its body goes limp. In a few seconds, it's entire body is gone in a cloud of black smoke.
Sighing, Rob falls back with beads of sweat rolling down his forehead and back, mixing with the blood. Rob trusts everyone else to win their fights, so Rob decides to rest, only to fight if he's needed.
"Stay still DANGIT!"
Another arrow flies, and another arrow misses as Jerome skillfully dives to the side. Jerome and DMitch are pretty evenly matched, since they both used long ranged attacks. But there's no telling how it'd go if the two were in close combat... Jerome's beaten Mitch a few times, and vice versa. At the moment, DMitch is spamming arrows at Jerome, trying to kill him while at the same time keeping him at bay.
"Not by the hair of my chiny chin chin!" Jerome exclaims, finally finding an opening to strike.
Jerome shoots out a shadow ball at full strength. Well... full strength considering his psychical health at the moment. The shadow ball explodes at DMitchs feet, launching it backwards. Finally! Jerome rejoices, wasting no time in advancing upon DMitch. DMitch rolls for a few blocks, then digs its heels into the dirt, stopping its tumble. DMitch springs to his feet, whipping out his iron sword just in time to parry the diamond axe- Betty -swinging at its face. Jerome grunts in tension, as does DMitch, the two trying to overpower each other as sparks fly from the clashing blades.
DMitch lets its sword fall to the side, stepping the opposite way at the same time, with a smirk. Jerome yelps in surprise as all his energy is pulling him forward, and quickly to the ground. Without hesitation Jerome goes to flip over and stand back up, but a foot is pressing down on his back, forcing him back onto the ground. Thankfully he manages to twist and wrap his own legs around DMitch's, sending it crashing to the ground and the dark-light arrow flying off over in Rob and DVikk's direction. The two scoot back away from each other, leaping up and simultaneously firing a shadow ball, and dark-light arrow at each other. The arrow splits the shadow ball, causing an explosion in the air, and kicking up a cloud of dust. Jerome squints, panting heavily, trying to catch sight of DMitch through the floating debris.
Suddenly a dark-light arrow is darting from within the cloud, headed straight towards Jerome. The cloud had not affected DMitch due to its copied heightened senses. Jerome's eyes widen, and he manages to pull up Betty in time to block the arrow, but in result the edge of Betty's flawless diamond blade chips when the arrow hits it. Jerome stares at his prized axe, eyes wild with fury.
"YOU HURT BETTY!" Jerome bellows, glaring at DMitch, who snickers pleased with itself.
With a roar of anger, Jerome charges forward unarmed, having out Betty away in his inventory. DMitch is caught off guard as Jerome rams directly into it, tackling it to the ground. Jerome does not hesitate to unsheathe his long onyx black claws, raking them down DMitch's face. DMitch screams in agony, deep gashes making an 'X' over its face, and blood instantly covering it. The cuts also run across DMitch's eyes, blinding it. DMitch bucks Jerome off itself, rolling onto all fours and clutching at its face, still shrieking bloody murder. But Jerome doesn't stop there. He latches back onto DMitch, flipping it once again onto its back, and pinning it down with his entire body weight. DMitch's blinded eyes widen in fear, as it trembles underneath the bacca. With one last snarl of rage, Jerome lurches down with jaws open wide, sinking his teeth around DMitch's neck, and biting deep into the flesh. DMitch is dead in an instant, puffing away in a cloud of black particles, but not before blood splatters all over the ground and Jerome. Spitting out the disgusting metallic taste of blood, Jerome finally calms down, weakness and pain flooding back into his senses. The worlds spins, and knowing he did what he had to do, Jerome passes out on the spot.
Lachlan smirks. His battle is too easy. Fire against water? DPreston doesn't stand a chance. DPreston hisses in frustration and anger, its tiny little bat figure swerving and dipping around the geysers shooting up from the ground. If DPreston gets hit, even just a tiny bit, it's game over. And it can't exactly attack Lachlan, considering he's invisible. Talk about the blur. (Anyone remember the blur XD?)
"You're just making it harder on yourself." Lachlan exhorts, firing off a line of geysers. "Give it up already. You literally can't touch me."
"I'd say the same for you." DPreston sneers, making its skin heat up substantially.
"Fine. If you want to be like that, you literally can't come near me. Better?" Lachlan retorts, ducking under a fire pillar that DPreston manages to fire near him.
And then an idea pops into Lachlan's head. He purposely turns visible again, exposing himself to the eyes of DPreston. DPreston takes the bait, it's little bat form rapidly shooting fire at Lachlan, and not as much focusing on the geysers. Lachlan grins, and after letting DPreston shoot at him a bit, he fires two geysers. The first one DPreston has to reel back to avoid flying into. But DPreston can't react fast enough to the second one that appears right behind it, blasting one side of its entire body.
DPreston screeches in anguish, one of its wings as well as part of its body immediately turning into stone, and sending it to the ground. DPreston morphs back to normal, quivering as steam flows off its body, and entire arm, leg, and part of its side frozen in stone.
"F-f-fudge you..." DPreston hisses, black lava tears spilling out of its eyes.
"Wow, even if you're dark..." Lachlan begins, strolling confidently towards DPrestons shaking form, "You still don't have the heart to swear, huh?"
"And you do." DPreston snaps, rolling its eyes and wincing in pain.
Lachlan frowns, stopping a block in front of DPreston, still shaking and immobile on the ground.
"You better f****** believe I do." Lachlan fumes, holding out his hand. "I just choose not to."
And with that Lachlan summons a geyser, immersing DPreston in water, and turning its entire body into stone, which vanishes a moment later.
Something's wrong here. Vikk realizes, summoning a wall to protect himself from the boiling hot geyser. This isn't how Lachlan fights. An arrow sails over the earth spike wall, plunging into the ground dangerously close to Vikk. Lachlan can't aim that well with a bow, let alone aim well at all! Vikk finds himself noticing, confirming it by the strangely precise arrows sailing over the wall at him. Vikk ducks and swerves, until finally DLachlan gives up, rounding the corner to fight. Vikk draws his sword, and DLachlan dashes forward, a scowl on its face. That's another difference. The real Lachlan would have sense to turn invisible, DLachlan is charging Vikk head on.
Vikk swings its sword in a wide arc, aiming to catch DLachlan's side. Instead DLachlan literally grabs the razor sharp diamond blade with its hands, wrenching it from Vikk's grasp. DLachlan winces in pain, but hurls the sword away, blood streaming down its palms. Then pivoting back around to face Vikk, who was caught off guard by the maneuver, throws a punch at his jaw. DLachlan's fist connects with a crack, knocking Vikk backwards, who yells in shock and pain. The punch had clearly broken his jaw. Vikk grimaces, tears pricking at his eyes as he holds his jaw, mouth bleeding and a metallic taste covering his tounge. DLachlan launches in towards Vikk again, going to sweep out his legs. Vikk just manages to feint backwards, and throw a kick to DLachlan's liver, momentarily putting him into shock.
Vikk summons a spike underneath DLachlan, but it hops out of the way before it can impale it. DLachlan engages Vikk once again, using techniques there was no way Lachlan knew how to do. Vikk even dare say that DLachlan is better than Mitch in hand to hand combat, which worries him. And rightly so, because it's not long before DLachlan has got Vikk on the ground, pinning him down by his throat. Vikk sputters and chokes, unable to buck DLachlan off since it's so much bigger and psychically stronger. Its fighting style is nothing like Lachlan's, which in the end has left Vikk defenceless, unless he wants to summon a spike. But in their position, he'd end up killing himself, too. DLachlan presses its knee hard into Vikk's leg, and through the already immense pain, Vikk feels the bones cracking under the pressure.
Stars swim in front of his vision as DLachlan tightens its grip around Vikk's throat, cutting off his ability to breathe. DLachlan smiles maniacally, pulling out an arrow and jabbing it multiple times into Vikk's arms, stomach, sides, and legs. But Vikk can barley makes a sound, besides a very frail and feeble;
"h-help..."
"Heh, you really think anyone can hear you?" DLachlan taunts, Vikk's blood covering anything in the immediate area. DLachlan leans in uncomfortably close, whispering menacingly into Vikk's ear. "Because they can't."
Vikk closes his eyes as DLachlan pulls out a sword, and readies to stab in through somewhere fatal. It's over. He's lost. Herobrine has outsmarted him, and now he's let everyone down. But then a cry of rage is ringing out.
"GET OFF MY VIKKY!"
And the weight is being lifted away.
Vikk cracks open an eye, and through the pain and haziness, makes out two figures wrestling and thrashing on the ground. It's DLachlan and Lachlan. Lachlan had already beaten DPreston and now he's saved Vikk's life, just at the last possible second.
Vikk, still panting and unable to move due to sheer pain, watches as Rob and Mitch appear on the scene, helping Lachlan to trap and pin down DLachlan. It only takes a few seconds before Rob has trapped DLachlan on the ground, with Lachlan's help, and Mitch has fired an arrow directly between its eyes, killing it. There's no doubt in Vikk's mind Preston and Jerome would be helping too, if not for the fact they are both lying unconscious in the grass.
"Vikk! Vikk are you okay?!" Lachlan demands, rushing to Vikk's side with worry flooding his eyes.
"T-thanks to yo-ou guys, yeah." Vikk stammers, pain raking up and down hi body.
"Hang in there Vikk." Rob comforts, kneeling down beside him and beginning to heal the multiple stab wounds.
As Mitch breaks away to go make sure Jerome and Preston are okay, Vikk lets out a sigh of relief, despite his crippling pain. Jerome and Preston are out cold, I nearly died, everyone else looks beaten up and bloody, the landscape is in ruins, but...
We did it.
Let's see Herobrine try and stop us now.
