Just because someone loves you immensly, doesn't mean you would take that person for granted. Everyone has a limit, of tolerating pain and insults.

His Anika's limits of bearing the pain was crossed. His ? How could he call her his ? When he never did something to be able to deserve her, when he gave her nothing but pain.

She was an angel, his parents had chosen for him. His mother was a professor in a university. Despite being the wife of Tej Singh Oberoi, his mother janvi had continued her teaching career. Anika was her mother's student and later, an intern in his father's office. Anika used to share a special bond with janvi. Anika being an orphan, found a mother in janvi and then a father in Tej.

Then, his parents got to know that Anika loves him, nay be love at first sight when she had seen him at the office. So they decided to get him married to Anika. May be they had thought that their workaholic and arrogant son would change into a good person because of the angel named Anika. So wrong, they were so wrong.

They granted that angel to him not knowing that he was a devil. Anika agreed to marry him because she loved him. Besides, She never denied anything that Janvi said. Also, janvi was a heart patient and she wanted to see her son settle in his life. And here, he kept assuming that Anika agreed to marry him because she was a money minded, middle class girl.

How could he blame Anika for marrying him when it was him who never told his parents that he has a girlfriend, Tanya who is also his assistant ? How could he expect Anika to deny for the marriage when actually she didn't kno0w anything about his relationship ? It should have been him who should have denied for the wedding because he didn't want to marry.

And, today he is thinking all this, when it's useless. Had he thought the same, a few months ago, he would have been living happily with his angel. Had he thought the same, even a month ago, his Anika would have been with him.

The things he did with her, how cruel he had been with her, when he thinks about it now, it gives him goosebumps. He shudders with fear and disgust as he looks at different corners of this mansion, where he used to torture her, beat her and abuse her, despite no fault of her.

He feels disgusted when he thinks how he called her names, when actually she was trying to make him a human out of a devil, when she was just trying to make this big building (mansion ), a home.

What was the use of thinking all this now when she went far away from him. Had he ignored his arrogance and accepted the fact that he has fallen for this girl he had married, he would have been happy. Had he accepted the fact that she had actually turned this mansion into a home and him into a human, he would have been happy. Had he got to know Tanya's evil plot of instigating him against his Anika just for the sake of getting the title of being the wife of Shivaay Singh Oberoi, they would have been happy.

He roamed his eyes to see the balcony. It pricked his heart to imagine her state when he had pushed her out of his room, in freezing cold weather.

It was his wedding night. His parents had gone to London  directly after his marriage and taking it as a chance, he had vented out all his frustration on her by slapping her, once, twice, thrice and God  knows how many times. He had thrown her out of his room, into the balcony attached to the room. He had threw her with so much of force that her head hit the glass grill. He didn't care to look at her when she was wincing in pain and shivering due to the cold.

He looked at the kitchen, where he had once burnt her hands. Why ? Because she was trying to give him his medicines.

It's not that he doesn't have pleasant memories of her in this mansion. He has. But the memories of the way he treated her most of the times, dominated those pleasant memories. He still remembers the day when he had talked to her normally, for the first time.

Anika came and passed a smile to him. For a minute, he was mesmerized seeing that smile that directly stirred his heart. Then, she hugged him. The touch had sent him to another world, which was so peaceful.

"Janvi ma and papa are here." Anika whispered near his ear, while still being in the hug and he understood the reason of her behavior.

He was shocked, that despite his cruel behavior, she was trying to defend him. She had the reason to tell everything to his parents but she did not.

"Why didn't you tell them anything about...about what I've done to you till now ?" He asked from her when they were alone, in his room.

"Because Janvi ma is a heart patient and I don't want to give her any trouble. I don't want anyone to see his/her mother suffering, the way I had to see when I lost my mother." Anika said, with a blank face and her reply made him guilty, for the first time.

Tej and Janvi were very happy seeing their son and daughter in law together and happy. Only if they knew the truth.

He still remembers the way she had made a place in his heart by her nature.

He had been sick and she had spent sleepless nights to take care of him. She had showed an authority to him for the first time and that was because she was concerned for him. Never ever she had took a stand for herself infront of him but that time she did, for his betterment.

He would be a fool, no, actually he was a fool who had kept denying whatever his heart said. He had started loving her care for him, he had started loving to see her waiting for him till midnight, so that she could serve him food. He had started loving it when she would wake him up. He had started loving to see her face first in the morning and also, at night before going to sleep. He had started loving the way he sensed her presence before seeing her. He had started loving the way she had paved her way to his heart, his mind and his heart.

But, he destroyed everything when he believed Tanya's fake allegations on Anika being in an extra marital affair. He looked at the drawing room and the nemory of that day came to his mind.

There was a small party at Oberoi mansion where only his friends were present. He was already angry because Tanya's allegations were not leaving his mind. Somehow, he was controlling himself. But all his patience went down the drain as his friend Arnav complimented Anika that she was beautiful.

As soon as all his friends left, he had literally pulled her skin off her body by beating her with his belt. His rough hands were too harsh on her soft cheeks. Her lips had started to bleed because of his tight slaps. She was shivering due to fear. His heart was aching seeing fear in her eyes but his blind trust on Tanya dominated his mind.

Now, when he lost her, he is realising that he had been a pure foolish. How could he believe that she has an extra marital affair when actually she used to be in this highly secured mansion 24×7. He used to have all the information regarding her actions and nothing was suspicious then how could he believe such wrong allegations ?

He looked at his room, where he had nearly raped her. Had he not been taken over by alcohol, he would have raped her. He shut his eyes but that dreadful scene was playing in his mind. Her pleadings were resonating in his ears.

Next day, when he woke up he saw the messed up condition of his room but he couldn't recall anything as his head was aching badly. He had a meeting to attend so he didn't even try to recall anything.

Anika came to give him his coffee and she didn't look into his eyes. Her whole body was shivering and he couldn't understand why ?

She stood there, waiting for him to finish his call. But he lost his cool when he heard about the loss in business. Anika couldn't notice his angry face as she was standing behind him. She tried to call him and it irked him more. He pushed her in anger left from there towards his room, without sparing a glance at her.

By afternoon, he was able to solve the matter by making some important calls. He made himself an espresso to relax his mind and that's when he recalled the events of last night.

His face lost it's colour as he remembered his own beastly behavior. No matter if Anika was a gold digger or not. No matter if she was characterless or not, but he didn't want to do such sin. He was trying to grasp in the happenings of last night when he heard noise from downstairs.

He rushed towards the hall and he stopped in his tracks when he looked at Anika lying unconscious at the end of the stairs, covered in blood. Janvi and Tej were trying to wake her up but she was lying there lifelessly. Janvi shouted at Shivaay to ask him to call the ambulance. Shuvaay recovered from his state and rushed towards Anika and took her to hospital in his car.

Anika had lost lots of blood and the deep injury on her head had impacted her brain because of which she had been in coma for fifteen days. Tej came to know about Shivaay's deeds and he was literally going to kill Shivaay whereas Janvi stopped talking to Shivaay at all.

Tej and Janvi took Anika to London with them because they didn't want Anika to suffer anymore. Shivaay had tried to stop them from taking Anika with them saying that he realised his mistake as well as his love for Anika, but his mistakes were too much to believe him.

Since that day he was living like a corpse. Anika's absence had affected him so badly that he had cut all his ties with the outer world. No business meetings, no calls, no outings. His daily routine was to sit in the room and stare Anika's picture.

As if, God wasn't satisfied with his sufferings due to Anika's absence that he suffered a business loss. He had to step out of his house and continue his office work. That day he came to know about Tanya's real face. Just to gain the status of being his wife, she destroyed Anika's image in his eyes.

But he couldn't blame Tanya, could he ? It was him who was behaving like a fool and believing Tanya. That day his guilt and disgust for himself reached another level.

One and a half year was the longest for him to spend without even one glance of Anika. Not even one second passed when he didn't wish to reverse everything and go back to the time when he married Anika. He always wished to get one chance when he will be able to give Anika the respect that she deserves, infact, the respect which is right of every single woman in our society.

Shivaay reached London for a business conference along with his PA and other important employees. He didn't know that this one visit would give him the second chance that he wishes for.

Anika was working in the company which he had the conference with. He would be lying if he said that he was happy seeing her there. His feeling was beyond happiness. Her one glimpse gave him peace.

Anika, on the other hand, was shocked to see him there. Her past memories were too bad for her to react normally seeing him infront of her. Still she put up a brave face and continued her work but he was staring her. She had never seen this look on his face. She wasn't able to read the feelings which his eyes depicted.

She had loved him madly, selflessly but her fear was making her weak. She didn't want to come infront of him or talk to him. Although she still loves him but with much difficulty she had gathered herself and she didn't want to make such mistake again. She wanted to stay away from him.

But as they say, our feelings are not in our control, especially when it is about the person whom we love. Seeing him behaving so friendly with his PA, Siya, she felt bad. The thought that may be he forgot her and moved on was making her feel like crying. She cursed herself for loving him and letting him take her for granted.

This day couldn't be worst for her, she thought. She saw him after one and a half year and that is worst. But she was proved wrong when she saw him hugging his PA. It hurted her like nothing else could ever do. Her tears escaped her eyes despite her trials.

Shivaay found Anika looking at him, teary eyed and for a moment he was confused. Siya broke the hug and that's when he realised the reason of Anika's tears.

"Did she misunderstand me ?" Shivaay thought and this thought scared him. He had already lost her. When he had seen her today and he had decided that he will do every thing and anything to woo her, to prove to her that he has changed and that, he loved her. But this one situation where she misunderstood him, could ruin everything.

He ran behind Anika as she tried to leave from there. Shivaay pleaded infront of her to stop her but she didn't stop until he fell unconscious due to extreme pain in his heart.

Anika turned towards him and was horrified to see him unconscious. Siya was trying to support his unconscious body and take him where his car was parked. Anika didn't care about anything and rushed towards Shivaay and supported him from the other side.

Once they took him to hospital, Anika tried to leave but Siya stopped her.

"Mam, I know you clearly misunderstood the situation. But please don't go like this. Let me atleast explain." Siya said and Anika couldn't understand anything. What was there to explain ? Seeing her confused face Siya asked her to sit and talk just for ten minutes and then she could go. Anika was still confused but she agreed.

"I'm Shivaay Sir's PA but for me he is like a big brother. Had he not come to my life, I would have either died or would have been living a miserable life." Siya said and it only puzzled Anika more. Believing such things about Shivaay was next to impossible for her, especially after tolerating so much.

"I know what you are thinking, Mam but this is the truth. I joined as his PA almost a year ago. My parents got me married to the groom of their choice. But he used to torture me. I had no strength to fight against him. I was accepting everything just like that. But one day, Shivaay sir asked me about my injuries and I  lied to him. But he didn't believe that and inquired about me. When he got to know about my state, he helped me. He not only punished my husband and made him a good person, but he also gave me brotherly love. Today if I'm living my life as a married woman happily, then it's because of Shivaay sir. I also know what was the reason you left him and I know that this reason is justified but believe me when I say that he loves you. His life revolves around you. He has stopped  living his life, he's just spending days, lifelessly." Siya told everything to Anika and shock would be small word to describe Anika's state.

It was difficult for Anika to believe that the Shivaay about whom Siya is talking and the Shivaay with whom she used to live are same. Anika's trance broke when the doctor arrived.

"How's Shivaay, doctor ? Is he fine ?" Anika asked from the doctor.

"How are you related to him ?" The doctor asked and without any hesitation Anika replied, "I'm his wife."

"He is depressed. And this depression is causing panic attacks and even suicidal attempts. His body have marks all over it which shows how many times he have tried to end his life. I'm surprised how come you don't know about his state ?" The doctor asked from her at the end Anika had no answer. Even if she had answer, she was not in a state to reply.

Siya was also shocked because she knew Shivaay was missing Anika but she didn't know that Shivaay was in depression. She talked to the doctor so that Anika could get some time to process this shocking information.

"What happened, Anika ?" What are you doing here in the hospital ? Are you ok, beta ?" Janvi and Tej, who had come for Janvi's monthly Check up, saw Anika sitting infront of a ward and they were worried seeing her crying.

"Ma..Shiv.." as soon as Anika saw Janvi, she hugged her tightly and cried because of which she couldn't complete her sentence.

After crying her heart out, Anika told about Shivaay yo janvi and Tej who were crying. They had stopped talking to Shivaay after they got to know about his behavior with Anika. But it hurted them to know the state of their son.

"I'm the one who's responsible for all of this, ma. Because of me you both distanced yourself from him and it affected him so badly." Anika said and started crying again.

"No Anika. It wasn't your fault. Shivaay had done a mistake that's why we stopped talking to him." Tej said and looked at the door of the ward, trying to gather strength to enter the ward and see his son's state.

"Mom, Dad !" Shivaay whispered as he smiled seeing his parents infront of him after such a long time. Janvi and Tej met him and apologised to him for being so rude to him.

"No mom, dad, it wasn't your fault. It was me who was responsible for the mess in my life. Had I not behaved so cruel with Anika, I wouldn't have lost her. She would have been with me. You both didn't do wrong by supporting her. B..But I want her, ma. I want her in my life, Dad. I'm ready to bear any punishment but I want a second chance. Please ask her to give me one chance, please." Shivaay cried and pleaded infront of his parents with joined hands.

Tej and Janvi felt pain in their heart to see him like that. But they couldn't give him any hopes. They couldn't and didn't want to force or even ask Anika to forgive him. They wanted to give Anika the freedom to choose what she wants in her life.

"We can't force her Shivaay. But we'll try." Tej said and both of them left from there.

Shivaay closed his eyes and started crying silently, unknown to the fact that some one was watching him all the time.

Two days passed and Shivaay was discharged from the hospital after which he came back to India. He was dejected that may be he would not be able to meet or even see Anika again. With heavy heart he entered the lifeless mansion.

He rubbed his eyes several times to be sure of what he was seeing infront of him. Janvi and Tej chuckled whereas Anika was still trying to believe that Shivaay could behave so cute.

"Mom dad Ani..how.." there was no need to say that Shivaay was not able to speak due to shock as well as happiness.

"WE thought to give you a chance." Tej said and Shivaay looked at Anika, praying mentally that this 'WE' include Anika too.

Anika gave a small smile to him when Tej and janvi left towards their room to give some privacy to them. Shivaay stood infront of her and stared her without saying anything. Seeing him staring her like that made Anika a little awkward.

"Shivaay !" Anika called his name and the next moment he hugged her tightly. A shocked Anika somehow managed to hug him back as she could understand his state of mind.

"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much Anika, for giving me a chance. You don't have any idea what you've done for me. I... I don't  even know how to tell you how much I LOVE YOU. I'm feeling the happiest person seeing you here, having you in my arms. I promise Anika I won't give you a chance to complaint. I won't let you feel any kind of pain. I will get everything what you want. I'm so happy." Shivaay spoke without a break and his excitement was a miracle for Anika. He was still hugging her and realised it only when Anika hummed in response to his talks.

"I..I'm sorry I just g..got excited." He apologised to her, giving her another shock. This man is surely not the person whom she had married. That person who never apologise even if he kills someone but here he was apologising for hugging her.

"It's ok. It's already late. Let's have dinner and sleep." Anika said and smiled.

They had their dinner silently and it was time to sleep. Shivaay was scared to see Anika's reaction after entering their room. That room still gives him pain when he recalls the events of that night. He was scared if she would hate him more.

Surprisingly, Anika didn't feel anything. Infact she was admiring the room. It was unchanged and changed a lot, at the same time. The room was no longer having that dull white and black theme but the room was filled with her pictures and the theme was white and green, her favourite.

Anika looked at Shivaay and he avoided her gaze. She smiled and slept on her side of bed after changing her clothes. Shivaay was still standing there, contemplating whether he should sleep on the bed or not. But Anika asked him to sleep on the bed and he slept.

Shivaay left no stone unturned to utilise this second chance. He tried every possible thing to make Anika feel special so that she no longer remembers those painful memories and he had become succeful too, unknown to him. He was surely possessive about Anika but he never imposed his decisions on her. He was so scared to lose her that he would say sorry to her even if their hands would brush with each other by mistake.

Anika, on the other hand, was getting pissed off with this over caring and gentle man kind of Shivaay. She was definitely happy seeing his care and respect but the wife in her who fell in love with her husband again was irritated by his distance.

Realising that he wouldn't take a step ahead until she tells him that she had forgiven him completely, she decided to take a step ahead.

May be even luck was with her when her foot slipped and in order to balance herself she tried to take his support, resultung in both of them to fall into the pool.

Feeling her so close to himself, it was being difficult for him to control his passionate desires. He had been distancing himself from her as much as possible because he didn't want to hurt her in any way. He didn't want to lose her. She was infront of him, talking to him, smiling and laughing, it was enough for him. But a situation like this when both of them are close to each other as if their bodies are one, it was next to impossible for him to not lose his sanity.

His heart took a troll over his mind who told him to stay away and he took her lips in a loving but passionate kiss. He didn't know what was the thing that drugged him and he forgot everything else, may be, it was the sweetness of her lips or, the warmth of her presence or, it was all of her that made him forget everything.

He moved a little down to kiss her collar bone, making her hold him tightly for support as she couldn't bear the different but beautiful feeling in her stomach.

Her blush turned into a frown and she opened her eyes when she felt the absence of his touch on her waist. He was looking at her with guilt filled eyes.

He was scared, with only one thing running in his mind. "Did he cross his limits ? Did he hurt her again ?" His heartbeat increased as his thought scared the hell out of him. Anika looked at his eyes which were slightly teary.

She had realised one thing since she had given him a chance, that he is always scared. And now too, she didn't need to think much to realise his feelings and thoughts.

When she saw him trying to leave the pool, she back hugged him tightly, placing a few kisses on his back.

"Don't think like that, Shivaay. You didn't hurt me. What happened, happened with my will. You didn't cross your limits, Shiv. But I want you to do, I want you to take a step further because... because I want it. Because I love you.. and because I want to be yours. It's my wish." Anika whispered against his skin and made him turn towards herself. He cupped her cheeks and she placed a soft kiss on his palms.

She removed the distance between their lips, making him feel that she isn't lying, that she is ready, to be his. Taking his lips in hers, she let him grasp the situation.

Resting his forhead on hers, after a passionate kiss, he cried and she let him do that until he was satisfied.

"You won't leave me, right ? You said you love me, you would always do, right ?" He asked, still not being able to believe his stars.

"Never. I love you and I will always do." She whispered to him and he hugged her with all his his might.

The rest of the night was a beautiful reality that seemed like a fairy tale.
