Nightmare

Rachel's POV

Quietness. That's all you could hear in this house. I mean, that's normal, considering that everyone is asleep. Well, almost everyone. I couldn't sleep. I've been having nightmares all night. Nightmares of Frisk with red eyes, and a bloody knife in one hand and dust in the other. Her eyes staring into my soul. And her smile, it wasn't right. I shook my head. It's a nightmare after all. Frisk won't hurt me... will she? Just as was about to take a sip of my tea, I heard a scream coming from Sans and Papyrus' room. I put down my cup and walked upstairs. As I passed Asriel, Flowey and Frisk's room the door opened revealing a tired Asriel and Frisk. "Rachel, what happened?"

"Don't worry Asriel. I'm sure it's nothing. You two get back to bed." They looked at me, but nodded anyway and walked back in their room. I opened the door to Sans and Papyrus' room and turned on the light to see a concerned Papyrus trying to calm down a freaked out Sans. Sans was shaking, crying, and sweating, and he had blue mist spewing from his eye.

"Sans. Sans what happened?" For once, Papyrus wasn't screaming, which was a plus. "Sans!"

"Papyrus." I placed a hand on his shoulder. He turned towards me, looking like he was about to cry. So naturally, my heart was in pain. I can't stand it when people were crying. "Let me talk to him. Can you go wait with Asriel, Frisk and Flowey?" He looked like he was about to object, so I continued. "Just let me see if I can help him. If I can't, then you can come back, OK." He opened his mouth, but closed it and nodded. He got up, walked to the door and opened it. He looked back towards his brother and me, and I gave him a small nod in assurance. He walked out and closed the door, and I turned to Sans. I sat on the edge of his bed and stared at him for a moment before removing his hands from his face. He looked at me in shock. He must of not known I was here. He looked around the room before turning back to me.

"Where's Pap?" I looked at him with confusion. Was this why he was upset?

"He's fine. I told him to step out for a moment. He's worried for you, and I am too. Sans-" He looked down. Tears fell from his face.

"Sorry..." My face turned to shock as I quickly shook my head.

"No, no, no. You have nothing to be sorry for. This isn't your fault." He didn't answer. I decided to continue before he kicked me out. "Sans... what happened?" He didn't move. He continued to look down, until he looked back up at me, his face filled with sadness. He then attacked me with a hug. My eyes widened at this side of Sans, as he cried into my shirt. My eyes softened, and I hugged him back and rubbed his back (the best I could), as he cried. We sat there for about... 30 minutes? By then the crying stopped and we stopped hugging. We were sitting next to each other on the edge of the bed. Sans sighed and I turned towards him. "Do you want to tell me what happened?" He nodded.

"We were back in the underground... and Frisk... wasn't Frisk. Her eyes were blood red, and she had a knife covered in blood and dust. She went on a murder spree. She killed everyone. I-I tried to stop her but..." He was crying again.

"Hey, look at me." He looked up at me. "It's not real. Look around you. Are we in the underground?" He shook his head. "Are we dead?" Again, he shook his head. "Am I here?" He nodded. "It's not real. Frisk isn't going to reset. She won't reset after giving you all of this." He looked down, not believing. I grabbed his hands, and he looked at our hands before looking up at me. "I'll make sure of it. You have my word." He gave me a smile. "Welp, I'm going to bed. You should as well." I got off of his bed and walked to the door.

"OK." I opened the door and I had to stifle a laugh.

"Sans!" I whispered/yelled. He walked over to me and laughed quietly. Papyrus, Asriel, and Frisk were laying in the hall. "I'll get Asriel if you get Frisk, but I don't know what we are going to do about Papyrus." I whispered, with a huge grin on my face.

"I'll handle Pap. Come on, let's get these kiddos to bed." He picked up Frisk and I picked up Asriel. We walked into their room and put them in their beds. I looked over at Flowey to see him asleep.

"It's hard to believe that this sweet little angel," I started, covering Asriel up, "was a monster killing flower at one point."

"Yep. Well I'm going to get Pap to bed." He looked at me. "You going to bed as well?" I looked down at the kids, then looked at the clock which read 5:00.

"I think I'm going to stay here for a bit."

"OK. Good-night Ray."

"Night."

"And Ray." I looked at Sans. "Thanks." I gave him a smile and nodded. He walked out of the room and shut the door, leaving only the light from the moon to brighten the room. I pulled a chair next to Frisk's bed and sat down. I know that it might seem weird to watch people while they sleep, but I find it weird that Sans and I both had a nightmare about an evil Frisk. And in the same night. I didn't let it bother me. Sills has her reasons for giving us dreams. Maybe it's a warning, but for what. That Frisk is going to go on a killing spree. Sills, what's going on? What's going to happen? I sighed. Sills can be so confusing sometimes. Her messages sometimes get lost in translation. And dreams can be very vague. I move a piece of hair out of Frisk's face. She looked so innocent, so pure. Not like a killer. But then again, Flowey turned out to be an innocent monster kid, not a soulless flower. I looked out the window. The sun is going to be up soon, and I haven't gotten a bit of sleep. Maybe I could talk to Sills. I walked out of Frisk and Asriel's room, shut the door, walked downstairs, in walked through the front door. I pulled out my phone and dialed Sills number and pressed call. The phone rung for a little bit till someone answered.

"Hello?" Silly's groggy voice answered.

"Hey."

"Ray? WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING WAKING ME UP AT... 5:15 IN THE MORNING!"

"I need to talk to you."

"About...?"

"Sans and I both had a nightmare."

"Well where's Sans?! Is he going to complain to me as well!"

"Sills."

"You don't see anyone else complaining their nightmares to me!"

"Sills."

"I MEAN, HOW HARD IS IT TO TRY TO GET SOME SLEEP IN THE MORNING! MY ALARM CLOCK IS ABOUT TO GO OFF FOR SCHOOL IN 15 MINUTES! ALL I WANT IS SOME-"

"SILLY!"

"Yes?"

"Could you stop talking for 5 minutes."

"...

"You gave us the dreams, so what are they about? You can't just always leave us in the dark."

"I can't tell you..."

"Why not."

"There is a rule to these stories Ray. I can't just break them. It's bad enough that I break the fourth wall. Sooner or later they will find me and we can't let that happen."

"I know, but-"

"Ray, I know you are worried about your family. I'm worried about mine too, but we can't change the rules of the stories. We all made them to protect us. No jumping into other stories, no explanations about the dreams, etc. Ray, why were you and the other Golden Girls created?"

"..."

"Ray."

"To protect the characters of our stories."

"That's right, and there is nothing you can do to change that. Now, pop off to bed. You need sleep, KK?"

"KK."

"Night." She hung up and I put my phone down.

"Night."
