Chapter 3
Jenn
High school has never been easy for anyone at all, especially for Jennifer. Especially this year. Her best friend, Lux, has moved to another school; her other friend, Eli, isn't really paying attention to her and prefers spending his time with Aaleiah, the gorgeous new girl from the Art class, whereas her archrival since kindergarten, Lindsey, is always at her back, criticizing her for any single mistake she makes or any bad thing she says about her. Not that those bad things are totally undeserved, anyway. Lindsey has never missed the chance of humiliating the poor Jennifer, especially when it comes to guys.
If she really has to be honest, she'd rather spend her time arguing with Jess over trying to cheat on homework than with Lindsey. The reasons, anyway, would be more than obvious: the latter would bribe her to get what she wants.
Suddenly, her father calling wipes away all her thoughts and causes her to rush downstairs. It must be something extremely important, almost vital. Nevertheless, she doesn't seem to care that much. Well... unless it involves the rest of the family.
"Okay, Jennifer, I called you because I need you to do me a favor." She shrugs as soon as she hears the last phrase. She hates doing anyone favors, especially when it comes to her sisters - better say, she loathes it. Other than shrugging, Jenn is also snorting, but her father calls her out on it.
"Stop reacting that way. Anyway, your mother and I are supposed to help Jocelyn to settle in college and we're leaving tomorrow. You will stay here and take care of your sisters." Hearing that isn't sitting well with her at all, as she has completely different plans, such as trying to convince her friends to hang out at the Skate Park or going to the cinema. Instead, she's supposed to play pointless games with Jess, Janae and Jaeleigh.
"But Dad," she protests, "can't Julie stay behind and take care of them for once? I have other plans."
"No, darling, Julie left a couple of hours ago, while you were slacking off in bed. And stop being selfish for once! You'll take care of your sisters, that's it." With this being said, he goes back to his duties. Once again, Jenn is feeling neglected. She doesn't want to babysit her sisters at all; or, much worse, she'll try to turn their lives into hell.
She goes back upstairs; as soon as she finds Jess' room, she abruptly enters it without even knocking the door or checking if there's anyone inside. In fact, her sister looks extremely upset upon finding about her privacy being disrespected and yells, "Do you even know what privacy is meant to be? Get the fuck out!"
However, Jenn lets out a smirk while answering, "Mom and Dad asked me to babysit you and the others while they're out. So you'll do exactly what I ask."
"Huh. Who gives a fuck? You're not my mother so stop being a bitch!" is Jess' reply. Knowing that her sister will even be more disrespectful to her than before, Jenn leaves the room, defeated, only to head to Janae and Jaeleigh's, hoping that at least they listen to her and do what they are asked to do.
However, she ends up being even more disappointed in her youngest sisters, as they don't intend listening to her at all. They're trying to defy her with any means, ignoring her requests - better say, orders - of opening the door, reaching her and being forced to hear her pathetic reprimands.
At this point, she opens it in a forceful way, giving them a stern glare. However, Janae's reaction isn't defeated, but a reaction of defiance. "What do you want, Jenn, treat us like your servants? Go away, or else I'll tell Mom and Dad you want to go to a party instead."
"Shut the fuck up," is her older sister's response, which causes Janae to almost back up what she's just said, until Jaeleigh starts laughing and comments, "Your feet stink a lot."
"My feet? What are you talking about?" Jenn is confused, to the point that she even fears this could be one of her sister's nasty pranks. Meanwhile, Jaeleigh is still laughing loud, angering Jenn even more, although the latter should know her military ways will take her nowhere and will only make her strained relationship with her sisters even worse than before.
Disappointed in their lack of respect towards her, she heads back to her room, where she starts blasting music at a very high volume, naturally to their dismay.

"What are you talking about, Evelyn? Are you telling me the party is cancelled?" Jennifer can't believe she's going to miss out on a chance of becoming popular because of this. Now, she's definitively bound at home with her annoying sisters.
The girl named Evelyn, who's talking to her on the phone, can't do other than confirming that, which means that their hopes of finally becoming someone are over. Jenn doesn't want to be content of just addressing to her sister in the rare moments they can spend together (Jess is often said to be more social than her) or spend a single day of her life pleasing her, Janae or Jaeleigh. This way, she'll pass as unpopular and asocial.
'What can I do? I don't want to play silly games with Jess and the others. They're just kids. They can go and fuck off.' Her negative thoughts about her family are furthered when she, upon going to the kitchen to take a snack, finds a long list of the chores she's supposed to do - all by herself, as her sisters, when their parents are not at home, almost always tend to slack.
'What the fuck! Why always me? Why can't they at least give Jess one, just one chore to do? She's always does nothing. I hate her so much!' With this negativity still following her, she reluctantly starts doing her chores, hoping to be able to gang up on her sisters sooner or later. Meanwhile, they could be doing anything in their rooms, including messing everything up on purpose; or, else, this is just what Jenn is thinking.
