21. Twin Dilemma
Amber POV
No more lusting.
She was full-on in love.
Jodi was over in their room every night. She would walk around in barely anything, showing her everything. She was very comfortable in her skin, unlike her.
She learned a lot from her so far. She was twenty-one, she was a junior, and she was from Chicago. Her major was exercise science and theater arts minor. She liked working on plays and did some acting. As pretty as she was, she could see her on stage.
She dressed pretty dope she wondered if she designed her own clothes.
She was an only child too, middle class like them. She was a decent student, making mostly Bs and a few Cs. She ran track back in high school and was offered a track scholarship to Illinois State but turned it down. Her parents helped her pay for tuition with the help of a few smaller scholarships.
Jodi and Jade were getting pretty close. They would be in her bed talking all night and giggling about little things. She was becoming jealous of the closeness her sister had with Jodi.
In fact, she was mad at her sister about it.
"What's with your attitude?" Jade asked her after Jodi snuck out of the room early morning as she usually did, to make it back to her residence hall.
She did not want to talk to her sister. And tell her what? That every night she got to sleep with the girl she wanted to be sleeping with? That this straight girl who would never look at her that way was turning her own with those long legs and sexy looks? That it was hard being gay in a mostly straight world?
Guys of all ages, races, and shapes fell all over Jade. To get girls to do that over her? Never. Girls would not act that thirsty about another girl. Well, she was the exception to that. As much as she loved her sister Jade, this was not something she could talk to her sister about.
She stormed out of their room.
Who could she talk to? She called Daysha.
"Hey little minion, you know you ain't supposed to be calling me."
She was not even thinking that Daysha was a MAX, thus her big sister. She considered her a friend first, then ex-girlfriend second.
"I'm sorry. I'll hang up."
"No, it's cool. I won't snitch. Heard you ladies are going through it."
The MAX ladies finally called them back for a session and told them they needed the break to see if it was something that all still wanted. Because of that weeklong fiasco, she only hung out in her room sulking, seeing Jade and Jodi go through their process with ease. She still wanted MAX, even with all the games. The organization was more than that once she made it to the other side.
"Daysha I didn't call about pledging, so can we not talk about that." She found a spot to sit in the empty back stairwell no one used. She could not have this conversation in her room.
"Okay, lil girl, spill it."
She blew out a breath. How much was she going to tell her? Everything.
"Soooo...there's this girl. Gorgeous. Super hot! You would like her too. Anyway, she is everything. But guess what? She's on line for AKA with my sister. Oh, but wait, that's not the bad part. She's straight! The worst thing is, she is over here hanging out with Jade...sleeping in our room. A few feet from me this hot girl is in bed with my sister."
Daysha bust out laughing. What was so funny?
"Daysha, be for real right now!"
"Why are you always with the drama?"
She blew out a frustrated sigh. "Drama loves me."
"I see. So okay, I'm not sure what you want me to say about all of this, but I will say it anyway. Ain't nobody straight, straight. Especially girls. Maybe she's curious or something. Maybe she is bi. Or how the hell do you know she's straight? A lot of us want to stay in the closet. Let her. You have to stop obsessing over it though. This is supposed to be the time of your life, pledging into the greatest sorority in the world, but here you are trying to chase kitty kat."
Leave it to Daysha to be so real to her.
"I'm coming down Homecoming weekend, and point lil Ms. AKA Wannabe out to me."
Her talk with Daysha helped a little. Stop obsessing, she kept telling herself.
And stop sleeping in the same room with her crush and her sister.
She asked Marketta and Laila if she could start crashing in their room because of her sister and her AKA drama. She did not tell them much else, but they were down with that. She bought a twin-sized air mattress and parked it right in the middle of their floor. She was not going to sleep with one of her line sisters and accidentally feel on them. No way!
Two straight girls doing it was one thing, but soft warm, feminine bodies turned her on and she did not want to feel that for Laila or Marketta.
The sessions with MAX were doing better now that there was a mutual understanding. They were all gearing up for Homecoming Week when swarms of Mu Alpha Chi and other Greeks would be in for the weekend. They studied names with pictures and would remember to greet them appropriately. There was a greeting for out in public and one for when they were in private.
The Epsilon Upsilon and their Alumnae were throwing a big barbecue as well. They would have to be there and she was not ready for all of that.
"Girllll, my big sisters want us to go away for Homecoming Weekend," Jade said to her
"What? Why? It's the biggest weekend we have here."
"Yeah, also the Delta's biggest weekend, their biggest rivals and they throwing shade hunty."
Again, Jade was always spilling the tea. How petty were these ladies?
"Jade, that's not fair you have to leave for all the parties and stuff. Where are they making you all go?"
"Carbondale for the weekend. The Kappas having a big Freak a Leak Weekend. And aye, I'm down! Find me a pretty boy for this pretty girl."
And maybe Jodi would find her a pretty boy as well. Maybe she would come back with a new boyfriend. How would she feel seeing her crush all over some guy? Ugh! Scrub the thought from her mind.
A/N: Amber always going through it. I feel like her sister is wrong, knowing she has a crush on Jodi, having her around like that. But you knew me 😈
