Demon

Darkness...Cold and black. All I could feel, all I could see. Nothing more, nothing less. Why was I here? What did I do to deserve such a fate?
"Hello?" I called out. No response, just my voice echoing through the darkness. I felt afraid, though I could not understand why. My thoughts were blocked by a thick, grey smoke that threatened to consume me. The sound of burning was loud in my ears...That's when I saw him.

Black had turned to red, and like a demon he rose. Large, black body, blood red eyes. I felt something resonate within me. He is my wolf. My body began to shake. I knew something was wrong. His tail was not that of a wolf. Instead it was pointed. Large, ivory horns broke free from his head.

I could hear him roaring. The great pain he felt. I wanted to help...but I couldn't. I was powerless to aid this great beast. Tears began to gather in my eyes, I didn't even know why. What's going on? What are these feelings? "What did I do to deserve this!" I cried out, my knees buckled.

--------------

Still I could hear the roars, but they were distant now. Many miles away. It almost felt...Peaceful. I looked around. Grass and trees replaced the darkness. A...Forest? I heard giggling behind me.

"Of course. Don't you remember your...Or should I say our forest. Where we had played together...As one?"

I spun round. A girl stood a couples of meters away. A malicious smile plastered across her face. "Who...Who are you?" I stuttered.

"Haha. I think you know very well who 'I' am." she snickered, clearing the dirt from her nails as she spoke.

The girl was right. Something about her seemed to familiar. Perhaps is it was her height and stature that exactly matched mine, or the freckles on her face that were identical to the ones on my face. I closed my eyes tightly. This is all just a bad dream. I've had dreams like this before. It will just go away.

"Hate to break it to you but I'm no dream...In fact, I'm much more important then that."

I opened my eyes. We both gazed at each other. My violet eyes pitted against her red eyes. "Who are you?"

"I'm you, who else."

My eyes widened. "No way is this real. I'm just dreaming, yeh, just dreaming." I said to myself.

"But that's the funny thing. Your only saying that because you refuse to accept the truth. Your demon will escape soon. This is what you will become, you can't deny it. You were made to kill, made to suffer. Isn't that right Child of Sin?"

My whole body froze. Only my mother had called me that, even then it was only once. Nobody knew my true name. It was my biggest secret and a strong weapon against me if the wrong people found out.

It was really strange, out of my shock I found myself getting very angry. "Who the hell told you that!" I snarled.

Slowly, she walked over to me, still baring a smile. "Didn't I tell you." she placed a finger on the end of my noes and chuckled.

Why can't I control my anger? Why do I feel like this?

"Because its destiny." she whispered in my ear, her black, pointed tail wishing from side to side behind her.

I moved my arm to attack but found myself restrained by chains. "What the hell!"

"These chains bound me for so long, how ironic it is that an angel would be the one to set a demon like me free." she began to laugh.

Out from her black hair came the points of two, white horns. "This is your destiny. Embrace it." she whispered. Then, she was gone.

I stood there in stunned silence. My mind was now clear, yet I could not think, could not comprehend what I had just seen. The grass felt damp under my hands, that's when I realised that I was kneeling. Everything around me was so dark, but I could still see thanks to the moon's bright rays.

I heard footsteps behind me and quickly turned my head. That's when I saw Lily standing there. "Nina." he quietly spoke to me.

By the look on his face he had no doubt seen the demon...Which meant he knew the truth. No. "No" I whispered to myself. I balled my hands into fists. He...He'll never trust me...No! I shook my head. "That was just a dream." I whispered to myself, closing my eyes tightly. Hot tears streamed down my face. "It had to be a dream!"

I felt his arms wrap around me. It was nice, having someone there. And, for once I cried, truly cried.

"Ughhh...Homework is so boring." My mind kept on wondering to the other night making it impossible to concentrate.

"Well you wouldn't have this problem if you had done it in the first place." responded Misono

"I'm so sorry I have other things to do. You know I always leave my homework until the night before." I replied with a sigh. I kept on flicking back through my book but I just couldn't focus. I looked out the window. Everything seemed so peaceful. Birds were singing and life was going on as normal. What did that all mean? It's destiny? Who was that girl? I could hear Misono talking in the background.

"Are you even listening?" he snapped.

"Huh." I turned to look at him.

Misono's expression changed from pissed to concerned in a heartbeat "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." I muttered. My finger glided across the white windowsill. I had forced Misono to study in my bedroom in a ditch attempt to focus.

"Well that was convincing now, wasn't it." replied Misono in a heavily sarcastic voice. He shook his head before closing his book. "What is wrong with you?"

Next I moved on to the curtain. I found a lose bit of thread and began to fiddle with it. "I'm just thinking about a dream. That's all." I sighed.

"That's stupid. How can a dream distract you that much? Your just being laz..." Misono trailed off as I hurtled my blue book at his face.

It hit home giving Misono a very sour look. This time however I was not joking this time. I was genuinely angry. "Please just go. I want some time alone."

Misono stood up and began to walk towards me, his footsteps loud on the dark blue carpet. "Why are you being so ridiculous?"

"Just go away Misono!" I snapped, my teeth barred in a snarl.

Misono took a step backwards. "Fine." he hissed quietly through gritted teeth. Slowly he walked over to his books and picked them up before exiting. All the while staring at the ground.

I let out a sigh. No doubt Lily was standing outside the door. Sure enough when I turned to look at the door I could see his red eyes staring at me through the darkness. He opened the door fully.

"I'm scared Lily. I don't want to become like her. I don't want my vampire side to take control. She said it was destiny." I muttered to him.

"It's your choice what and who you want to be. No one else can decide that." he replied firmly.

I kept on facing the window. "My eyes sometimes go red. Just like her eyes." though I did not look I could tell that Lily was giving me a pitiful look. I turned to look at him. Somehow I found the strength to smile. "I made a promise to you five years ago. I said that I would try my hardest to stay in control. Don't think I'm just going to give up." My expression was still one of sadness but I had a determined grin on my face. And now, so did Lily.

--------------

"Tick tock, tick tock. Your running out of time Nina." called a smiling girl. "Lila is coming for you and there's nothing you can do to stop her." she laughed.
