Early morning on a Saturday. Teri let some of his guests sleep in his mansion. One of them is Hedith and out of habit, the princess of the Underworld woke up earlier than anyone to get her things ready to leave. But things haven't really gone her way since she left for her mission.
In the middle of doing her hair, the girls barged into her rooms. Artemis have a huge bag over her shoulders, Evie have her make up supplies and the other three are looking mischievous. Dangerously mischievous.
"Umm, morning?" Hedith said, suspiciously before letting her long hair fall.
Knowing them, they don't really are this early to wake up. Especially the night owl, Artemis.
"What are you doing here?"
"Preparing you for your date," Dizzy squealed and tackled Hedith, making her fall onto the chair behind her. She quickly protested when Celia back her up when she started restraining her hands unto the chair.
"That is unnecessary!"
"You'll run away if we don't do this," Uma said, smugly as Evie puts her kit on the vanity table.
"So relax. We're not going to eat you."
Hedith wanted to protest and tell them off, but she is cornered. With her magic, she could easily escape, but that would also mean hurting her friends. And there is also Artemis. A much more experienced goddess who can easily take her down with just a flick of her finger.
"Did Teri made you do this?" She asked, calmly.
"How did you know?" Celia asked as she sits in the chair beside Hedith. From their reactions, her guess was correct.
"By date, I assume it's Carlos little suggestion last night. And he wouldn't go as far as asking you to purposely harass me and strap me down for make up. Telemachus, on the other hand, is a very notorious wingman even in his demigod peers. It's only suitable that he tried to have you guys do this," she said in a matter-of-factly tone. Uma huffed in amusement and crossed her arms over her chest.
"What do you expect? She is Mal's little sister."
Hedith rolled her eyes and turned to Artemis, "And what's with that huge bag?"
"Clothes," Artemis grinned spilling the contents on the bed. When it revealed colorful garments and fabrics, Hedith's eyes widened in horror.
"Nope! Nu-uh! You won't get me to wear that!" She easily declined. She turned away from the hideous colors (at least in her perspective), "You won't get me to wear yellow and especially pink."
"Yeah, we told Teri that. But this is all the jerk has," Artemis said before a chuckle can be heard from behind them. All six of five of them snapped towards the open door and there stood Persephone with a warm smile. Hades is standing behind her with a less tasteful expression.
"Kore! Dad!" She almost croaked at the word and smiled sheepishly, "So you've seen me in this embarrassing predicament."
"I said one month and you already had a boyfriend?" Hades said, dangerously low.
"He's not my boyfriend-"
"-yet," the other girls interjected. Hedith sighed in defeat. They will do what they want.
"Stop being pouty, dear. Hedith's not a little baby anymore," Persephone said, walking over to the bed and inspected the dresses, "Yep. You won't get her to wear any of these."
"Do you have another solution then, Mrs Persephone?" Uma asked, uncertain on what to call her.
"Oh Kore is fine," she said and lifted her arms above the dresses, "Just some little touches."
They watch as Persephone tear the threads in a graceful manner without touching them and piecing them together. Everyone except for her step daughter and husband was in awe. Soon, she had pieced together a casual dress that's good enough for Hedith to wear.
"That...is really pretty," Evie grinned before turning to Hedith with an intent to kill, "Now for make up."
"I hate you all with passion."
"Aw, we love you too."

Meanwhile, Carlos waited in front of Teri's mansion together with Dude. He figured that his usual leather jacket wouldn't do good for the hot weather right now so he settled on a umbre colored (red and white) shirt and a casual jeans today. Just a casual get-up today. No leather or over the top, bad-boy looking clothes. She'll like that, right?
"Chill out, kid. It's not like she'll bite ya," Dude said, laughing. Carlos gave him a look which made him clear his throat, "Uhh...hehe. sorry."
"Wow. Carlos de Vil with no leather? Color me stoked," Carlos turned around and he smiled to see Hedith.
She's wearing a blue dress with a ribbon around the collar and a pair of heeled sandals. Her hair is styled down with a pin pushing her hair back on the side.
She also seem to have a different approach today regarding her wardrobe. That thought made Carlos let out an amused chuckle.
Hedith however glared, "What's funny?"
"It's amazing how we both thought of doing changes on our wardrobe today," he explained, amused at the thought.
"I don't know about you, but I would always look fabulous on my choices," she said, flipping her hair backwards. Carlos smiled at the adorable display of smugness.
"And the girls didn't help one bit?" He asked, looking pass her shoulders. Hedith turned around with a horrified expression to see her friends, Persephone and Hades, and even Teri standing by the doorway, smiling at the them.
"Okay, I'm leaving. I'm entrusting the kid to you, little lady. Don't mess him up," Dude said as he ran over to the others. Dizzy picked him up before they waved at them and left the doorway close.
"They helped," she admitted, "But it's the wearer that makes the clothes look fabulous."
"It's creepy how you start sounding like Evie."
"That's why there's this thing called class," she smirks, putting her hand dramatically on her chest, "So where to now?"
"What?"
"You planned this right? You're not just gotta have me stand here all day," she glared and Carlos sheepishly smiled, "Forget it."
He quickly grabbed her arm, "No! I mean, yeah of course I have something planned. Just got lost for a sec. Hehe."
"Uh-huh?" She raised an eyebrow in disbelief.
"O-Okay. Umm, just follow me and I'll lead you t-there!" Carlos was quick to turn away to hide his harassment. It's not attractive to stutter and he actually did that mistake in front of Hedith. Who, in all of Auradon, doesn't really tolerate dorkiness.
At least, he thought. Hedith was amused with Carlos' nervous figure. She smiled fondly while watching him fidget and shake in front of her. It was amusing to watch and adorable to see. You'd think after years after puberty, a guy like him would eventually cope with his dorkiness and awkwardness.
"So this is a date, then?" She decided to pour salt on an open wound and Carlos turned to her. He evaluated his answer carefully.
"You could say that," and failed.
However, Hedith secretly loved it, "I don't like amusement parks. Note that. So if we go to Olympus Park, I'm leaving."
"We are not going to Olympus Park."
"Good. Where then?"
"Somewhere."
"That's not very assuring. I am a girl," she said, feigning an offended expression. Carlos gulped, but then reevaluated the situation. He remembers that this is Hedith. Even if we say that he's smitten with her, this is still the same Hedith who had pranked and teased him a lot during childhood and adolescent years. Stirring him up is her specialty.
"Are you messing with me?"
She laughed and started walking beside him, "You're quick to catch up."
"You've done the same a hundred times already."
"Yet you still fell for it," she pointed out.
Carlos sheepishly laughed, "I swear if you're gonna be a god, you'll be the Goddess of Mischief."
"Hedith, Greek Goddess of Mischief. I like the sound of that," she grinned, "It's like stealing candy."
They walked through a trail leading to a forest and at that point, Hedith is thinking of where in the world Carlos is planning to take her. She's been in forest before but mostly where Artemis and Demeter are usually resided, but this one is unfamiliar to her. Nevertheless, she lets Carlos take the lead and pray that he knows where they're going.
"No, seriously. Lonnie totally got Jay in between her fingers," Carlos laughed, "You should've seen them last night."
"I don't really know Lonnie until Arendelle but she seems like a cool gal," Hedith stated.
"What can you expect from the daughter of Mulan?"
"I want to meet the daughter of Merida. She was an exchange student back in your batch, right?"
"Yeah. She almost out stood us. Much to Audrey's annoyance back then," Carlos laughed, reminiscing the days he spent in Auradon Prep.
"Lemme guess? She was rowdy and-"
"Like a bear! And it's always hard communicating with her," he said, "Jay almost asked for an interpreter to speak to her about Archery Club."
"She sounds exciting."
"Too much, I think."
Carlos jumped in front of her with a wide smile on his freckled face. Hedith never told anyone but those freckles are always one of Carlos' charm.
"Close your eyes."
She scoffed and shook her head, "Why?"
"Just close them," he insisted. Hedith rolled her eyes before doing so. Carlos waved his hand in front of her face and smiled when she didn't reacted.
He took her hands and leads her carefully into the lumpy terrain of the woods. Hedith almost laughed at how clammy and sweaty Carlos' hands had gotten. On the other hand, he was to make sure she won't trip on any rocks or mounds that makes the terrain extra bumpy. Later on, they stopped. Carlos went behind Hedith and clapped his hands. She took that as a signal to open her eyes and she huffed in amusement.
"A picnic...in a meadow."
There's a red picnic blanket in the middle of the meadow with two baskets. A pair of rabbit even leaped past it. A couple of flowers also surrounded the whole meadow. Different kinds that it seems like a playground for Persephone.
"Hey! You don't like big crowds. I figure that a fancy restaurant isn't your taste. Anything indoors is a big no no. And you like flowers."
Hedith raised an eyebrow at him for the last one, "I'm Kore's step daughter. I'm not Kore."
"But you like the outdoors and the scent of nature."
"How'd you know that?" She challenged, crossing her arms over her chest.
"A certain Shrimpy told me," he said smugly.
"Oh my gosh. I'm gonna get Uma for that later," she noted but smiled, "However, this seems nice."
"I'm glad. Let's go?"
"Race ya!"
"Hey, wait!"
Hedith did a head start as Carlos chases after her. Their running figure scared away the rabbits. Carlos outrun her the last minute, letting himself fall unto the blanket.
"I won."
"Don't be smug, Dog boy," Hedth said and sat beside him, "If I weren't wearing heels, I could've beat you easily."
"Excuses!"
Both of them laughed as Carlos sat up. He opened one basket and took out two containers. One containing sandwiches and the other fruits.
"You have blueberries, too?"
"No, strawberries," he joke wherein she hits him playfully on the shoulder, "What? You're gonna fight me over what is better like you always do with Mal?"
"My sister's taste in foods are questionable," she said and she digs through the baskets to find the sole container of blueberries, "Blueberries are obviously the supreme ones."
"Don't let the moody pregnant lady hear that."
Carlos opened the container and handed her a sandwich. She thanked him and nibbled on its corner, "This is nice."
"What is?"
"This. Nature. The Underworld is always damp and dark. It has its beauty and perks that works with me and dad, but it's always nice to be out in the wilderness," she said, laying down on the blanket, "Probably why dad fell for Kore. She was everything that Dad isn't."
Carlos stared at her for a moment. The way her eyes stare at the sky in a some sort of longing way. Her eyes were a pair of beautiful pitch black ones, sometimes looking dead. It wasn't terrifying to say the least, but it doesn't show much emotions as what her entire face and words say. The only time her eyes speaks is when she uses her mother's powers. One that she openly despises but still uses out of convenience.
"Persephone is the nicest step mother."
"I wish she is my mom," she muttered, almost out of spite, "I hate it whenever people points out I'm Maleficent's daughter. It may be alright to Mal, but for me it isn't."
"You're still going on about that?"
"Yes," she answered, chewing her sandwich angrily before swallowing, "The rest of you had a close-ish relationship with your parents at some point and they took responsibilities of you, but Maleficent decided to just yeet me out!"
"You said yeet," Carlos pointed out in which Hedith glared at, "I'm sorry."
She sighed and took a deep breath, "Nah. Everyone's probably just annoying me. How about you? Got some stupid issues too?"
"Nah, everyone practically knows my life story. My mom was abusive. She treats me more like a henchman rather than a son. Got me irrationally scared of dogs and all that. In the end, I still end up supporting her."
"That's rough, buddy."
"We all got it rough," he said, smiling sheepishly. Then he noticed Hedith staring at him. His face heated a little, "Hedith?"
"Come here for a sec," she sat up, puts the lid on the containers and pulled him off the ground. He lifted himself up and she dragged him towards the area where different flowers bloom, "Pick some flowers you deem is the prettiest. Make sure you pick them along with a long stem."
"What are you planning on doing?"
"Just pick some!"
"Alright! Alright!"
And so he started picking the prettiest flowers as Hedith watches him.
