《SPECIAL CHAPTERS - 4. SECRET NEW BEGINNINGS》
SPECIAL CHAPTERS - 4. SECRET NEW BEGINNINGS.
Sirene Black was lost to put it simply, first of all, she didn't know how to get to the knight bus so she could go to the leaky cauldron, she had always assumed it just knew when to come, so she sat on the corner of the road with her trunk and her head in her hands.
I'm an absolute idiot.
I can confirm. A voice spoke in head that reminded her an awful lot like her mother, but she just rolled her eyes at it.
Ok, so I'm an idiot and I'm going crazy, great. She thought to herself bitterly before trying to remember what to do when a wizard is in need of the knight bus.
"Yoo-hoo!" She said in hopes that the bus would know somehow, "I'm lost, now would be a great time to come"
In exhaustion she just threw her hands backwards a bit, but right then the knight bus whizzed by, coming to a halt right in front of her. A lanky boy came out of it to greet her, "Ello, I'm Steve!" He spoke enthusiastically, waving at her.
"Hello, Steve" Sirene spoke almost sighing out of relief, "I'm Sirene, I need to get to the leaky cauldron, if you please"
"Hop on, then!" He said, holding out his hand to get her trunk that she handed him with ease but unfortunately it almost made the boy's knees almost buckle, "Holy- this is heavy"
"Sorry about that" Sirene winced, climbing inside the bus and taking a seat with a sigh, "Can we go, please? I'm tired"
"Sure thing!" Steve said, "Step on it, Eddie!"
Sirene almost toppled over when the bus started because of the speed, she held on to one of the poles for dear life whereas Steve just stood there without a worry on his face, not even swaying a bit.
Then just as it started it was soon over, the bus stopping right outside the the entry of Leaky Couldron. Sirene got up with a dazed expression on her face, before making her way up to Steve.
"How much for the ride?" She asked going through her pockets and gathering a few galleons.
"One galleon and nineteen knuts!" He said with a huge smile on his face as always, "Should I carry the trunk outside for you?"
"Here you go" Sirene handed him two galleons, and then took her trunk in her own hands, "No, it's fine, I can manage, thank you!"
"You gave me an extra galleon!"
"I know! Have a great night!"

Sirene laid on her bed bored, she didn't bring her record player so she didn't have something to play and she couldn't open the window because the train noises were already insufferable, she sighed to herself before opening her trunk and taking out some parchment and a quill.
Dear Alice,
I hope things are good at home for you, and your step-mother (ach) isn't bothering you too much, how is your step-sister, by the way? Is she just as much of a pain in the arse too? Or do you two get along, in which case I take back my statement of her being a pain in the arse, I heard about Frank finishing his N.E.W.Ts with flying colors, so, that's great, right? Is he still set on being an auror? If yes, then you've got an advantage, you know, with him being an auror before you and all, not that you need it, of course. Send your mom all my love and tell your dad (ach) to suck a left toe.
Xoxo,
Sirene.
After she finished writing that, she realised that she had no owl or a pet so she'd have to wait till the morning to get to diagon ally and get one. She sighed before falling face-first on the bed again.
She would also have to start looking for an apartment while she was at it so she could have a better place to stay. It seems funny how Lily and her were joking about growing up just a few weeks before and now she actually has to grow up and act all grown up too.
She shuddered at the thought of doing her own laundry and paying bills but she had to do it. She got up with a hesitant look on her face and took the quill in her hand once again.
Dear Sirius-
But she scratched it just as fast as she wrote it and then threw the parchment in the bin, she just felt so frustrated with everything she wanted to rip her own hair out.
I would kill for a butterbear right now.
Your world is crumbling and all you can think of is butterbeer? Maybe it is mental illness.
Shut up.
No, you shut up.
Fine!
🥀
The next morning Sirene woke up around noon, because, well, no one was there to scream in her ear and she'd slept pretty late yesterday.
She got dressed before walking up to the brick wall, tapping on the bricks the way her parents did and walking into diagon ally. She strolled around mindlessly looking through shops before deciding that she better get to gringotts to get some money if she wanted to buy something.
So, that's exactly what she did. Inside Gringotts, there were goblins, as always, staring her down suddenly making her feel insecure and under-dressed, she shook her head and made her way to the main counter.
"Vault 628" Sirene said to the goblin who glared at her before she took out her key and waved it.
He nodded, and then called out for another one of goblins to help her get there. She watched the different vaults look identical except a certain few which she was sure held something much more valuable than money.
"Key" The goblin said bitterly holding out his hand, and told her to then stand back. When the vault opened, there was as expected, a shit ton of money, one thing she had her family and her grandmother who seemed to be the only person who cared enough to thank for.
She shoved four handfuls of money in her bag and then made her way out of it, sighing a breath of relief as she didn't have to deal with those judgmental goblins anymore.
The first thing that came to her mind was a pet, she walked up to the pet store with a small grin on her face, excited with the prospect of having a pet at last.
"Hey dearie" An old ladie greeted Sirene from the counter, getting up to give her a warm smile, "What are you looking for?"
"Uh" Sirene said looking around at all the pets before continuing, "I'm not quite sure yet"
"Well, then just take a look around" The woman spoke, her smile not faltering for one moment, "I'm sure it'll help"
Sirene nodded and then went through the racks in the back where they kept most of the owls, she noticed one of them staring at her with it's head tilted, and it was at that exact moment that she knew she was going to take that owl home.
"Excuse me" Sirene called out to the lady who came in with a smile on her face, "I would like that owl, please"
"Sure, darling" The pet store lady said, motioning for Sirene to follow her after taking the owl and it's cage in her hands, "Come up front"
And that everyone is how Sirene met her most favorite animal ever, Freya, she was a beautiful grey owl that was absolutely adorable.
After buying everything necessary Sirene stepped into Florean Fortescue's ice cream parlour, and bought herself some ice cream that of course Mr. Florean gave her for free because Sirene was one of Alice's best friends.
"Sirius, come on!" Sirene heard someone say from behind her, she immediately turned the other way and started walking away from that voice, "I'm coming James!" She heard her brother say but it was right from the side she was walking to, so she turned around, again, this time going straight into a bookstore trying to hide her face behind her ice cream.
She hid behind one of the bookshelves and then let out a breath of relief, but the relief was short lived as someone took out a book from a shelf finding her and frowned.
"Sirene?" Remus said looking at Sirene who groaned in annoyance, "What are you doing here?"
"Eating ice cream?" Sirene said with an unsure expression.
"With an owl in your hand?"
"Freya has attachment issues, don't judge!"
"Uh huh" Remus said skeptical at Sirene in front of him who took a bite out of her ice cream making him wince, "Did you just bite your ice cream?"
"I have to finish it before it melts" Sirene said shrugging, "So, what brings you here on this fine day?"
"I'm buying books" Remus said simply, "This is a bookstore, after all"
"True"
"And so I told her, fine if she doesn't-" Sirius paused in the middle of the sentence when he saw his sister there with an ice cream and an owl who seemed to have the same reaction as him.
Her face immediately hardened, she didn't spare a glance at her brother before brushing past him to get out of the store.
"Sirene!" Sirius called out as she walked away but she didn't look back, "Wait up!"
Sirene simply rolled her eyes and continued walking, hoping that her brother would get the hint and just stop following her but of course, Sirius is Sirius and he wouldn't know what taking a hint is even if it knocked him out. He gripped her hand and turned her around. She gave him nothing but a cold glare and a scowl that resembled her mother's.
"What?" She spat as she stared at her brother who was at loss for words, "What do you want now?"
"I just want to apologize-"
"Save it!" She snapped at him, his grip on her arm loosened, "I can see it by the look on your face that you're not sorry you left us, you're not sorry that you chose your friends over me"
"I didn't choose my friends over you" Sirius protested crossing his arms at her sister who mirrored the same pose, something the Black siblings seem to do whenever they're annoyed, "I didn't want to leave you"
"But you did" She said hastily, "You did exactly that, you didn't even send me a letter at our birthday, so I ignored your stupid mirror, so what? You could've sent me a letter, a present? You did nothing! You were too busy living happily with the Potters while Regulus and I lived with our mother"
"I didn't exactly have a choice, did I?" Sirius said bitterly, "You would realize that if only you weren't so selfish!"
"You're right" Sirene said chuckling dryly, "No, you know what? You're right. I am selfish, so I'll just leave you alone and I'll go be selfish somewhere else!"
"Sirene!" Sirius exclaimed at her sister who was about to walk away, "Please let's just talk"
"There is nothing to talk about anymore" Sirene said glaring at her brother, "You've shown that when it comes to choose between family and friends, it'll always be friends for you"
"My friends are my family!"
"And I'm not?!"
"That's not what I mean" Sirius stuttered, "Look just listen-"
"Save it!" Sirene whispered venomously looking at her brother who's eyes were watering now, she took out a neatly wrapped gift and then threw it at him, "Happy fucking birthday"
Sirene then walked away with the owl in her hands and the ice cream long gone because it had melted away. Damn it, should've eaten the ice cream first, and then fought.
Too late for that.
Oh, my god! Do you ever shut up?
Bitch, I'm your conscience!
Sirius stared at her sister walking away wiping the tears that had fallen down, he'd done it again, he'd disappointed another person in her life. He felt a hand squeeze her shoulders, he turned around to see James with a sympathetic look on his face.
"Let's go get ice cream" Sirius said giving James a fake smile, "I bet we can convince Mr. Fortescue to give us some for free"
"Sirius-" James said to Sirius who just shrugged in a way that James understood was to make him stop talking about it, "Ok, let's go"
"I'm sure she'll come around" Remus said to Sirius who gave him a thankful nod, "She has a short temper, you guys are going to be ok"
"I hope so, Moony" Sirius said with a small smile, "I hope so"
This is the last one of the special chapters after that it's gonna be us and the girls again :) and maybe some boys, just maybe tho, if I'm not annoyed by the mere existence of men.
