OFF TO HOGWARTS
I. OFF TO HOGWARTS
It was no secret that Sirene Black despised staying home, if she could even call that place home, the problem wasn't the building, obviously, the problem was her parents and everything they stood for, the way they treated her and her brother - like they were some sort of disgrace to the family and the way Sirius and her were always overlooked.
It only took a few years for the twins to realise - it wasnt their fault, they were themselves, there was nothing wrong with that - but even then they spent years trying to fit their parents' expectations, thinking maybe if they became what their parents wanted them to be they'd be loved before they realised it was only doing them more harm than good. So they told each other, "If they're gonna hate us might as well give them something to hate us more" and that was the rise of rebellion, as they called it.
Making their way up to the kingscross station, Sirene and Sirius could barely hold their grins, they loved being out, but as usual how dare the Black family let the kids do what make them happy so, as you can guess - they spent half of their lives trapped in their rooms, making them feel like animals of some sort. The twins looked at each other, identical smiles taking place on their lips, this was it.
"Look at them! It's like they have no respect at all" Walburga Black said her lips curling into a nasty scowl as she glared at the children who had bumped into her while they were running to the other side of the station.
Sirius and Sirene sniggered at that together, making Orion throw them an unpleasant look after which the twins immediately turned stiff not wanting their father to create a scene in public, Regulus Black stayed behind with his face expressionless, as he swayed his arms a bit absentmindedly.
"Off you go" Orion said giving them both a slight push, that made Sirene wince a bit because of a wound she had gained when she fell off her broom during the summer,"We're not gonna hold your hand"
"Don't worry we didnt expect you to" Sirene scoffed, tightening her hold on her trolley and running through the wall before right platform 9 and 10, before they could react.
The view was magestic and every bit as fascinating as Sirene had thought it would be, the train was still - with the steam blowing out, parents everywhere hugging and kissing their kids, handing them pets, and some were even crying.
oh my-
Unfortunately for her the fascination didn't last very long as Sirene's thoughts were interrupted because someone had run right into her from behind, making her fall.
"I'm sorry!" Sirius said, peering over to look at his sister who was busy glaring at him, he tried with every fiber of his body to hold back the laugh threatening to leave his lips but it didn't happen and he burst into howling laughter at the sight of his sister.
"Arsehole" she said before brushing the dust off her clothes and putting the stuff that had fallen right off her trolley including her fantastic beasts and where to find them book, which someone stepped on.....while she was picking it up.
"Get off my book!" she cried, quickly grabbing the book from under whoever's filthy shoes they were.
"Geez!" she got up to see a boy with messy jet black hair that was all over the place, and round glasses looking at her with amusement.
"I'm James" he said raising his hand for Sirius to shake as Sirene picked up the rest of the things, putting them back into her trolley, "James Potter"
"Sirius black" Sirius replied, jerking his head back a bit to get rid of the hair that fell on his face, giving James a firm handshake.
She crossed her arms as he raised his hand for her to shake too but she never did, James looked at Sirius and then released a small chuckle "Not much of a people person, is she?"
"Not really" Sirius said mirroring James' expression.
"I'll have you know I'm very much of a people person" she said with a huff rasing her hand forward, which James then grabbed and shook excitedly, "It was just the fact that you stepped on my fingers and my book"
"Well then I'll make sure to never do it again" he grinned at her.
Sirius looked at both of them with squinted eyes, before pulling their hands apart, and saying "Come on, let's get to the train"
⚕️
"Hey, look this compartment is empty!" Sirene said to James and Sirius who were a few compartments ahead of her, looking for an empty one.
"Merlin, I thought we were never going to find one" Sirius said as he sat down on a seat next to the window with a 'humph' sound.
"We found many compartments-" Sirene said with a confused look on her face but got interrupted yet again.
"None with more than 2 spare seats though" James said, taking a seat right by Sirius.
"Yeah"
"Excuse me, could I sit here maybe?" A boy with ashy brown hair and tired looking face asked his smile being more of an awkward one asked the three friends, standing by the compartment door with his luggage behind him.
"I don't see why not" Sirene said, shrugging and watched him struggle a bit with his suitcase.
"Thank you" he said kindly and slid his suitcase under the seats not bothering to put it up, sitting down besides Sirene who smiled at him enthusiastically.
"No problem, mate!" James said, offering him a smile and then raising his hand for him to shake, "I'm James"
"Remus" he said shaking James' hand.
Right before Sirene and Sirius could introduce themselves a girl's voice interrupted them, "Oh merlin! Thank goodness there's a seat here!" Her bubbly and loud voice surrounding the train compartment.
She released a sigh of relief and then practically threw her luggage on the top, gasping for breath with her hands on her knees, "Sorry, I don't exercise a lot"
She smiled at them all with excitement at the thought of making new friends, sitting besides Remus who was looking at her while giving her the classic awkward smile of his, that she returned but only with much more enthusiasm.
"I've been walking for almost an hour trying to find a bloody compartment" she said leaning back on her seat, "All of the older students were hogging the seats! The amount of people I've caught snogging is disturbing!"
"We've only been on this train for fifteen minutes" Sirene said to the girl who was sat on the seat relaxed and had started eating her sandwiches already.
"Really? Felt like an hour to me" she said and then shrugged taking another huge bite of her sandwich, before she made a sound as if she'd realized something "Oh, oops I forgot to introduce myself" she said with her mouth full, "I'm Marlene McKinnon!"
"Remus Lupin" Remus said his awkward smile now turning into more of a genuine one.
"James Potter" James said flashing her a charming smile.
"Sirene Black"
"Sirius Black" the twins said at the same time, grinning at each other after realizing.
And so the conversations continued with everyone sharing their food, well everyone except Marlene who refused to, but they didn't mind they'd bought plenty of stuff from the sweets trolley. The day slowly turned into night and the scenery changed, but the five of them were too busy talking to notice.
