LONG WERE THE NIGHTS
III. LONG WERE THE NIGHTS
Sirene Black hates waking up and it's to the point where she falls asleep brushing her teeth, she would often get yelled at by her parents because of it.
Unfortunately, no matter the amount of liberty Hogwarts provided, you still had to wake up at a certain time to eat and then attend the classes.
So, naturally waking up Sirene and Marlene turned into a chore for Alice and Lily as they would have to literally drag them out of their bed for them to open their eyes.
This morning was no different, Alice and Lily being the early birds of the four woke up, took a shower, got changed into their robes and then stood near Marlene and Sirene's bunks.
Both of them were sprawled on their bed and with their mouth open, and snoring lightly. Alice sighed, looking at Lily and saying, "You take Marlene, I'll handle Sirene."
To which Lily merrily nodded, she thanked god in her head that she didn't have to wake up the demon spawn today, grateful for the alternate day waking system that they'd created on their second day at Hogwarts.
Alice first took the sane approach to waking up a person - calling out their name while shaking their shoulders - to which she got nothing but a groan, she then sighed rolling up her sleeves.
"Merlin, help me" She says as she takes a deep breath and snatches the blanket off of Sirene, who just curls up instead of waking up. "Come on! Wake up or I'll leave you!"
"Go away!" Sirene says and then Alice is met with a pillow on her face.
"Okay! This is it! I've had enough!" Lily exclaimed, her hair messed up as she'd gotten hit with a pillow from Marlene herself too, "I'll give you three seconds to wake up or god help me, I don't know what I'll do!"
"Oh my god, Lily Evans just threatened me. Shiver me timbers." Sirene practically slurred, her pillow muffling her voice. "AHHH! WHAT THE FROG!"
Sirene's voice echoed through the dorm room, as she got off her bed, soaking wet, because Lily had dumped water on her, not just one bottle, no no, she had dumped three bottles, all together.
"Oh, you're so going to pay for this!" Sirene said her voice shaking a bit because of the cold weather and her being, ya know soaking wet, "Come here Lily-pad, give Sirine a hug"
And with that Lily sprinted out of the dorm, Sirene following shortly after, while Alice just stood there watching the scene unfold in front of her eyes.
"Every. Time." She says before shaking her head and then looking at Marlene who surprisingly (not really) slept through it all, she released a small sigh before an amused smile made it's way on her face, "Mars, look I've got some sugar quills!"

"I apologized!" Lily said, angry at the fact that Sirene was still mad at her about the whole water incident.
"Well, I don't accept it!" Sirene said, angry at the fact that Lily was mad about Sirene being mad at her about the whole water incident.
"Well, she was just trying to wake you up." Alice said, her voice sounding as kind and dreamy as ever, but quickly after she realized she'd made a mistake.
"Hey! Who's side are you on, Al?" Sirene asked Alice, who wasn't paying attention anymore, she was too busy walking on the cracks of the tiles.
"Huh?"
"I'm hungry" Marlene said out of the blue, making everyone stop and look at her with their eyebrows raised.
"Is that all you've got to say?" Lily asked, her eyes widening with disbelief.
"What? A girl isn't allowed to declare her hunger?" Marlene asked the group her hair flopping as she raised her hands as a sign of mock surrender.
"So, what do you reckon they've made for breakfast today?" Alice asks, playing with the paper crane in her hand that she'd made yesterday before sleeping.
This time it was Alice's turn to get stared at by everyone.
"What? I'm hungry!"
"Boo!" Sirius jumped out of one of the empty classrooms, startling, well attempting to startle the girls, who gave him an unimpressed look.
"Literally no one moved.." Sirene told her brother who just rolled his eyes, putting his hand around her her shoulder.
"Hey why is your-" Sirius started but wasn't able to finish as James jumped out of the classroom that Sirius had been in previously, yelling out 'boo!'
"Ahh!" Everyone including Sirius shrieked.
"What are you screaming about?" James asked Sirius a look of disbelief making it's way on his face, "You knew I was going to do this!"
"Well everyone screamed" Sirius started shrugging, "So I thought, meh why not"
"Are you guys done now?" Remus asked them stepping out of the classroom, his face laced with disappointment.
"Yeah" both Sirius and James said together.
"Hey! Stop stealing my twin!" Sirene said jokingly because of the simultaneous speaking James and Sirius had done.
The seven of them made their way to the Great Hall for breakfast where they found Peter, who was already eating away.
Sirene, of course, saw this as another opportunity to sleep, leaning on her transfiguration book with her palms under her chin.
"Oi, sleepyhead" Remus said poking Sirene on her shoulder with his finger, making her turn around with a scowl prominent on her face, "You need to eat"
"No, I need to sleep" She told him turning away once again and then closing her eyes but just as she was about to close her eyes she felt a warm bowl pressing against her arms. She turned towards him, yet again to see him holding out a bowl of porridge.
"Eat. I haven't poisoned it." Remus said to her with a crooked smile on her face.
"I hate you" Sirene said with a deadpanned look.
"I'll manage" Remus told her, shrugging, "As long as you eat."

"You have to turn this rat into a cup" Professor Mcgonagall said to the class who was busy trying to turn the rat they were given into a cup without puking, "No tail, no fur! A proper cup!"
"I can't do it!" Marlene whined for the thousandth time this day, she turned the rat into a cup, but the problem was that the cup still had the rat's fur and tail, making her severely disgusted and feel the need to puke.
"It's not just about the spell, Mar, it's about the wrist movement too." Lily said, trying to explain the process to Marlene who seemed to get even more confused after that, "Just watch me."
"Remember, the most beautiful cup wins house points" Professor Mcgonagall said to everyone, secretly amused at everyone's attempts.
Sirene did the spell with a bored expression on her face, she had been trying for ages but it just wouldn't turn into a cup, this time she used the spell - the rat did finally turn into a cup, making her startle from surprise as she wasn't expecting it.
"Woah, you did it!" Marlene said to Sirene who was still wide eyed and staring at her cup, it had an intricate gold pattern on the top and it was made of glass with gold flakes stuck around it.
"Why is yours prettier than mine?" Lily said, and then started re-doing her spell so hers could look better than it does right now.
"It's so beautiful" Alice said dreamily while playing with her rat instead of trying to turn it into a cup.
"Well done, Miss Black" Professor Mcgonagall said, looking at Sirene's cup while turning it around in her hands to check for any fur or even a little bit of the rat's tail showing, "Turn it back into a rat, and you'll get ten house points"
Sirene just nodded and turned the cup back into the rat, and pet it lightly.
"Ten points to Gryffindor!" Mcgonagall announced to the class, making Gryffindor cheer a bit, "Your assignment is to practice this charm and learn it, and write a paper on turning animals into inanimate objects!"
A series of protests happened but they were quickly shut down when Mcgonagall passed them a glare.
After the class had ended, Sirene made her way out of the classroom, dodging the students and trying her best not to bump into them.
"Hey, Siri! Wait up!" Sirene turned around to find her brother running to catch up with her, obviously with Remus, James and Peter behind him.
"What?" She asked him when he reached her, but she didn't need a respond as she knew the look on his face all too well, "I'm not going to do your homework"
"I- why?" He asked her, pouting a bit hoping his puppy dog eyes face will work on her, but as always Sirene was immune to it.
"Because I have my own work to do!" She said offended that even for a moment he thought she was going to do his homework for him, was she getting soft? "And if you keep making that face I'm going slap it off of you"
"You're so mean" he said crossing his arms and rolling his eyes.
"Awww, I'm sorry"
His face lit up thinking he got her, but he tried to play it off by acting mad.
"Did I make it seem like I cared?" She said with a fake pout and baby voice.
"Okay- let's not" Remus said stepping in, and saying, "come on, shake hands"
"Absolutely not!" Both of them said together, crossing their arms and resisting the urge to stomp their feet.
Remus gave them an unimpressed glare and James just watched in amusement, while Peter stayed behind James watching everyone.
"Fine!" Sirene and Sirius said together again, shaking each other's hands grumpily.

The day seemed like it had passed away with the blink of an eye even though, it had seemed like hours during the classes.
"We never used to get this much homework on the first day in muggle school" Lily said quietly, writing down her transfiguration paper while taking small bites of the sugar quill Alice had given her.
"I've never went to a muggle school" Alice said, while she was swinging her legs sitting on the bed corner.
"Yeah that's because you're not a muggleborn, Al" Sirene snorted, falling down on her bed after finishing her paper.
"Oh, yeah. I suppose that's true." She said dreamily before putting on her sleep mask and curling under her blankets, muttering a small 'gnight'
"Hey, Mar?" Sirene asked, turning around to see that Marlene had already fallen asleep, sprawled across her bed like a frog and snoring lightly.
"Well, I should sleep now too." Sirene said to Lily who was still working on her paper, "Night, Lils"
"Good night, Si" Lily said smiling warmly and releasing a satisfied sigh after she was finally done with her paper, she turned off the lights before fixing Marlene's blanket and getting into bed herself.
No matter the homework, no matter the yelling of the teachers, no matter how tired she had gotten till the end of the day, it was truly the best one Sirene had ever had, and she could only hope she would have more days like this.
K, so that's chapter 3 hahaha I'm having fun writing this. I'm not usually consistent I think it's because I can use my own plot too you know?
