XXIX. IS IT TOO LATE?

Look, Sirene wasn't a prank god, but that's exactly what she was, at least she liked to think she was. She always had been, and with the company of a few prank gods themselves, she became an even better prankster. One thing didn't make sense though - and it was why she couldn't think of a prank for Andrew.

She had went through her prank journals yet she couldn't find the perfect one, it needed to not be too cruel but it also couldn't be too nice, you know? Something only temporary, like changing his skin color or making him grow out a beard.

So, as one does, she went to the best people for that sort of thing - Prewett Twins. You want a candy that makes you release steam out of your years? They've got it! Change your hair color? They've got it! Make your nose bleed? They've got that too!

"Hey" Sirene said to the twins with her hands in her pocket and a bored expression on her face, they only grinned at her in return.

"Drop the act, Si" Fabian said rolling his eyes.

"We both know you're a softie" Gideon added in.

"Alright, alright" She said with a small smile, "I need something"

"What is it that you need?" Gideon asked putting his hands in his pocket with a mischievous grin.

"We've got it all" Fabian said with a small wink.

"I need a candy that will make your skin glow purple or something" Sirene asked the twins, "I know it's oddly specific-"

"That'd be 12 knuts" Fabian said reaching into his pocket and handing her the candy discreetly.

"Pleasure doing business with ya" Gideon completed for him, raising his hand as Sirene gave him the knuts, and an impressed look.

"Do you guys have everything?" Sirene asked them with a mischievous grin herself.

"We told you already" said Fabian.

"We have it all" said Gideon.

"All you have to do is ask" Fabian said reaching into his pockets again.

Sirene smirked reaching into her pockets and thought, someone's in for a treat today.

The sixth year Gryffindors and Ravenclaws were all in the same potions room as always, though today it was an exceptionally boring class as they wouldn't get to actually brew something. It was all about memorizing stuff from the book.

Sirene was slumped in her seat, barely giving a moment to Sirius who constantly looked like he wanted to say something but he couldn't bring himself to.

Sirene was thinking of the prank though, so, it wasn't that big of a deal for her, she didn't pay that much attention to Sirius, not like she wanted to too. If he didn't get there to see her in the hospital wing, he doesn't get to see her out of it too, I mean he is seeing her physically considering she's sat right next to him but that's about it, that's all he's getting.

The bell rang dismissing the class as everyone was already busy stuffing their textbooks into their backpacks and rushing out of the classroom so they could avoid getting homework because Slughorn had decided to take a nap right between the class.

"Hey, Rosie!" Sirene called out to the Ravenclaw who turned around with his brows furrowed which relaxed when he saw Sirene making her way to him, "Wait up!"

"Hey, Ren" Andrew gave her a small grin, "How are you?"

"Well, I'm alive so" Sirene said chuckling awkwardly, "Thanks for all the chocolates though, I really appreciated it!"

"Yeah, well I've got a sister and I know chocolate helps so" Andrew shrugged turning to look at Sirene who released a small laugh.

"Yeah, you're right, chocolate does help" Sirene said reaching inside her pocket and pulling out a small chocolate snitch and popping it in her mouth, "You want one?"

"Erm, sure" Andrew said taking the chocolate from Sirene's hands and then putting it in his mouth, it wasn't until after a few seconds that he realized that something was wrong, and Sirene's laughter was definitely not helping his doubt.

"Hey, Andrew!" Arielle Rosier, his little sister called out from the other side of the corridor to him, "Your skin is glowing! Share your routine with me sometime!"

"Sirene" Andrew said turning to Sirene with a glare, "What did you do?"

"Would you look at that?" Sirene said pretending to look at her watch, "Quidditch practice, got to go!"

"This isn't over, Black!" Andrew called out putting his hands around his mouth, and realizing that he was in fact, glowing, quite literally.

Sirene walked through the hallway with a proud expression on her face and was soon joined by Lily who gave her a huge smile.

"What are you all smiley about?" Sirene asked Lily with her eyebrows raised, "Let me guess, is it 'cause of Potter?"

"No, it's not-" Lily started with an offended look but stopped immediately when Sirene gave her a done look, "Yes, it's because of Potter"

"Called it" Sirene said with a triumphant smile chuckling at the redhead who pouted slightly at her friend.

"Hey, Lily and Sirene!" Marlene joined the two of her friends with a dreamy expression on her face, "What a wonderful day!"

"What's up with you?" Sirene asked Marlene narrowing her eyes skeptically, "Did you and Lyra shag or-"

"Sirene!"

"It's not like you weren't thinking it!"

"Hey, best friends!" Alice practically skipped to the three a smile on her face as always, "How did class go?"

"Alice" Sirene said looking at her brunette friend, "You were there"

"I know" Alice shrugged, "I got distracted by the birds"

"Is everyone suddenly lovesick or something? What am I not getting?"

"Ok, everyone line up!" James said to the team members who were all busy sweating and gasping for air after the heavy practice they'd done just now, "Listen, I don't care if we don't win the Quidditch Cup-"

"Yes, you do" Sirene rolled her eyes at the now captain. James was made captain after Windora was done with school simply because he was the only one who could make the second years work without crying, "You would kill us if we lost"

"I wouldn't kill you" James started with an offended expression, "Maybe hurt you really badly-"

"James" Sirius said to his best friend with a bored expression, "You're scaring the kids again"

"Alright, fine!" James said throwing his hands back in mock surrender, "What matters most is that you give it your all, the rest I'm going to be fine with"

"Yeah!" Marlene mocked him, "Sure you are"

"Thank you, Marlene, for that" James threw her a glare, "Seriously, I'll be fine if we don't win...."

Everyone looked up at him with their eyebrows raised.

"...as long as we don't lose to Slytherin, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff"

"There it is" Sirene said chuckling at her friend who rolled his eyes at his team.

"Ok, get lost now, everyone!" He said dismissing everyone, "Practice is over"

Lol I have no idea what I'm doing in life, like wtf? HAPPY NEW YEAR BTW!!!!!!!! Lmfao I'm trying to sound excited but ik this years gonna be shit too. Do you ever just sit and wonder about how one person could change the entire plot just by being somewhere at the right time, it's quite inch resting isn't it?
