XVI. DOING GOD'S WORK PT. II

    Remember when Sirene said she wasn't going to take credit for what happened? Well, she takes it back because it seemed to work out just as she'd hoped.

     Let's go back a few hours.

     "Merlin" Remus muttered, "I can't believe I'm doing this!"

     "Oh, would you relax?" Sirene scoffed, "You don't even have to do something, you just know about the plan, that's all!"

     "I never should've walked inside that damned compartment" he said shaking his head, "It seems like I walked into nothing short of a shit load of trouble!"

     "Once again" Sirene said rolling her eyes, "You don't have to do anything, just tell me when Slughorn's not looking"

     "I've got it!" James said, pushing his bag up his shoulders again, making his way through the crowd to Remus and Sirene, "I've got the bag!"

     "Great!" Sirene said excitedly, "This is going to be amazing!"

     "You bet your arse it is!" James said, giving her a high five.

     The three of them made their way to potions, the crowd making space for them to walk without bumping into anyone. James was walking with a grin on his face and his hands in his pocket, Remus was fiddling with his sleeves as always, and Sirene with a blank expression on her face that always seemed to be there while she wasn't spending time with her friends.

     Well, it's more like that to intimidate people but still.

     "Hey, Remus!" A soft voice called out, making the three of them turn around to come face to face with Lauren Laurel, "You forgot this" she said, holding up a notebook with Remus's neatly written name on top.

     "Oh" Remus said taking the notebook from her, "Thank you for returning this" he passed her a charming smile.

     James and Sirene looked at each other with identical expressions, the smirk being the dominant one.

     "Remus" James said cooly, pushing his hair back, "Why don't you introduce us to your friend here?"

     "Right" Remus looks at him with narrowed eyes, "Lauren meet James, James meet Lauren, Sirene meet Lauren, Lauren meet Sirene"

     "Hey" James said, raising his hand for Lauren to shake, "James Potter"

    "Lauren LaRue Laurel" Lauren said with a chuckle, "I know, it's a tongue twister"

     "It's cool" James said with a grin, "Sirene be polite and greet her"

    "Sirene Black" Sirene said shaking Lauren's hand, "Woah, you've got awfully soft hands"

     "Thank you...?"

    "I mean" Sirene cleared her throat, "I play quidditch and most of my friends do, so it's rare"

    "Oh, thank you!" Lauren said with a huge smile, "You're not as bad as people say you are"

    "Oh" Sirene's smile faltered for a split second before a tight lipped one took it's place, "Thank you"

    Lauren gave them a little wave before walking away.

    "What was that?" Sirius said, breaking the silence.

     The three of them got startled seeing Sirius suddenly standing behind them.

    "Merlin!" Sirene exclaimed, "Where did you come from?"

    "I've been here for a while" Sirius said shrugging, "I was observing"

    "You're such a fucking weirdo"

    "Hey, you kiss your mother with that mouth?"

    "Ew!"

    "Ms. Black, I hope Ms. Evans's company can help you...behave" Slughorn said with an unsure expression, "As much as it can"

    Sirene looked at Lyra and Marlene who now sat together, both of them smiling politely at each other.

     "Can't believe you talked him into doing this" Lily whispered to Sirene in disbelief, "What are you even doing with all the seat switching?"

     "I'm doing god's work, Lily flower" Sirene said simply, "Just wait and see"

     "Uh huh" Lily said with a blank expression, "Don't ruin this for me"

     "I would never dream of doing such thing!" Sirene said with fake hurt, "Besides, I'm good at potions!"

     "I know you are, I just take this a lot more seriously than you do"

    Sirene wasn't paying attention to Lily though, her eyes were on a certain ashy brown haired boy who pulled up a discreet thumbs up.

    Sirene dropped her quill on purpose, and as she bent down to pick it up, she muttered a spell on the backback and floating it under Andrew Rosier's desk.

    Sirene got up with a proud look on her face and dusted off the imaginary dust off her robes.

    "Uh oh" Lily said, her face panicked, "What did you do?"

    "Duck!"

    A series of fireworks burst out in the classroom, the colors varying and the shapes being different, all of the students hurried out of the classroom, Sirene guiding Lily who was busy screaming at her with a hand on her back.

    "WHAT THE FUDGE?!" Lily exclaimed to Sirene who was laughing hysterically at Slughorn's face, "SIRENE ROSE BLACK EXPLAIN YOURSELF RIGHT NOW!"

    "I don't know what you're talking about!" Sirene said raising her voice so she could be heard, "Absolutely no idea!"

    "Hey" Remus said, "I need you to remind me again, how was this crucial to the plan, again?"

    "Oh, it wasn't" Sirene sniggered, "I just forgot to do my potions homework"

    "Pardon me?" Remus said with a smile and dead eyes, "Did I just hear that correctly?"

    "Oh, Remus" Sirius said sympathetically, patting his shoulder, "You really should know better by now"

    "Wait the best part isn't over yet" Sirene whispered as a very tired Slughorn got out of the classroom with a backpack in his hand, "Mr. Rosier"

    "Yes, professor?" Andrew said with a frown, he didn't know why the Slughorn was approaching him, considering he barely pays attention to anyone besides Lily.

    "Would you care to explain why this backpack was under your desk?" Slughorn said, raising the backpack with his wand.

    Andrew paled, "I- I don't know, professor"

    "That's enough" Slughorn raised his finger, "That'll be two weeks of detention for you, Mr. Rosier"

    "But-"

     "Enough" Slughorn said firmly, "Class is cancelled today for obvious reasons, I suggest you all go back to your common rooms"

    Sirene cheered loudly with Sirius who wolf whistled, along with several other students whereas Lily and Remus just shook their head, Marlene still seemed confused at the whole thing, and Alice had been with Madam Pomfrey with a huge headache.

    Andrew turned to look at Sirene with an angry expression on his face, Sirene blew him an over exaggerated kiss. He glared at her and she simply winked.

Hi, I know this is a short one, but again, I gave u like 3 chapters within 24 hrs, I'm not saying be grateful, but be grateful, just kidding, you don't need to be im just not that busy anymore so u can expect continuous updates sometimes.
