Chapter 54

Chapter 54

●●●

Around a month had passed since Yoongi had gotten his big boost of attention. He and Namjoon had worked hard to keep the whole thing going and now, Yoongi and his workaholic behavior had gotten to the point where even Namjoon had told him that he couldn't keep going like that, and Namjoon was usually just as bad as Yoongi.

He had offered, actually more like ordered, Yoongi to take a break and go on holidays or something along the lines. Jimin had gotten up with an idea rather quickly. One that Yoongi wasn't the biggest fan of but, after a lot of begging from Jimin's side, had given in to.

Jimin wanted to show Yoongi the island he had spent long parts of his lifespan on. Or at least it was the place he'd stayed at the longest. And Yoongi didn't like that idea because well... water. Lots and lots of water.

Going into a swimming pool where the water was about two meters deep was one thing, but the open ocean? Yoongi did not feel comfortable with that idea.

"Hurry up." Jimin whined, pulling at Yoongi's arm. They were in Japan, a city called Sendai. Jimin had explained to him how the island was around three hours by boat from there. They were walking the distance from their apartment to the port.

They'd talked to two tour guides about how they'd like to visit one of the many islands close to the city and that they'd prefer having a small boat to themselves. The guides took their offer; the price was set for whatever distance they were going to go and they were on their way there, Jimin really hyped and Yoongi a bit overworked and tired.

"Even if we are there sooner, we have a set time we're going to meet. Hurrying up won't change anything." He stated and Jimin whined, tugging on his hand anyways.

"But they might be there a bit early too. Come oooon."

Yoongi rolled his eyes, but did speed up a bit. As nervous as he was, he had to admit that Jimin being this excited about showing him something that had played a part in his life was pretty damn cute. Especially looking at how he skipped through the streets, in a wide sweater and his chaotic black hair bouncing.

"Look, you can already see the ocean." Jimin exclaimed happily, clapping his hands, and Yoongi cooed silently before looking up. There, at the far ends of the street, the bright blue waters were slowly getting visible.

Jimin breathed out. "Holy shit, I can show you around the island. It's beautiful, you know. Like really wild and uncontrolled but in a good way."

Yoongi smiled. "I look forward to seeing it."

A wide smile on his lips Jimin linked their elbows, pulling him further along the way.

When they reached the port Yoongi glanced at his phone. They were five minutes early, but the guys they'd talked to were probably already there. He checked for the number they'd gotten and spotted a small boat, probably a bit around half the size of a truck.

Two guys, with sun tainted skin and strong arms, were sitting on deck, playing cards or a game of sorts. When Jimin and Yoongi approached one of the got up to greet them.

"Min Yoongi." Yoongi introduced himself, bowing slightly. The man nodded his head in acknowledgement before pointed at himself. "Daigo." Then to his partner. "Toru."

"Are you gonna take us there?" Yoongi said, stuttering a bit in broken English and pointing at the ocean.

The guy nodded, before asking "Where to?" In even worse English.

Yoongi got out a map they had bought before and let Jimin show them the island they wanted to visit.

The sailors face turned pale. "No... this place. Bad place."

Both Yoongi and Jimin exchanged a short glance. Jimin had warned him that something like this might happen. Nevertheless, Yoongi asked.

"Why?"

"Bad..." He turned around to his colleague and they exchanged a couple of words in Japanese before the guy in the back got up as well, pointing at the map.

"Island cursed." Yoongi almost didn't understand him due to his even worse accent. "Death island. No entry."

Yoongi sighed. "We take a small boat? You wait far away?" He made a gesture with his hands.

The two guys went back to talking in Japanese and Yoongi waited, feeling a bit uncomfortable with not understanding what they were saying. Then they focused back on Yoongi.

"Island bad. Go there. Die." One of them said with a nonchalant shrug of his shoulders. "Many missing. Never found."

"We want to go there." Yoongi repeated and the guys looked at him like he was crazy. A couple of seconds passed then the second one started talking.

"We take you. Stay ocean. No island."

"We'll take a small boat. You can stay off the island." Yoongi offered and one of the guys nodded contently before reaching out his hand.

"Pay or no boat."

Sighing tiredly, Yoongi grabbed his wallet from his back pocket and handed the guy the amount they'd settled beforehand, but the guy shook his head. "Dangerous. More cost."

Yoongi handed him some more until he was content and he and Jimin could enter the boat. Although he still wasn't the fondest of being on a boat in the middle of the ocean the fact that Jimin was there made him feel safe.

They spent a good three hours on that boat, him and Jimin laughing about stuff that had happened lately. Things were going well. Otherwise Yoongi wouldn't have been able to afford this. On their way here Yoongi had, for the first time ever, been recognized. A Japanese girl had asked whether he would mind taking a picture with her.

Jimin had gladly accepted for Yoongi, who had simply frozen, and took their picture for them.

Yoongi still felt warmth at the thought. Things were going well and he really hoped it would stay that way, but feeling Jimin leaning against him he felt confident to say that he really couldn't imagine things going bad anymore. Even if he lost everything he'd have Jimin, sitting there and humming softly. A tune Yoongi recognized all too well as one of his own.

An island came into their view and Yoongi couldn't help but gasp. It was huge but looked completely untouched by humanity. Jimin got up, bouncing on the balls of his feet.

Unlike Jimin, who was more than enthusiastic, the sailors seemed a bit weary, anxiously eyeing the gigantic island. Around one hundred meters from the stony coast they came to a halt.

"There island." One of the men said, turning around and gesturing at it with his arm like they might miss it.

"Where's the small boat?" Yoongi asked and the guy looked exhausted at the question, but he and his comrade pulled a rather low quality looking inflatable boat out of nowhere. Getting air into the thing took quite some time, so Jimin and Yoongi simply stood there, looking at the island in the distance.

"You never mentioned how big it was?"

"You never asked." Jimin's tone was playful as he leaned closer. "I also kind of wanted to impress you. I mean, I have no big dick to show off or something like that so I had to improvise."

Yoongi laughed warmly, pecking Jimin's cheek.

"I bet you could make yourself a big dick if you wanted to."

"It's not like I'm gonna need it anyways."

Yoongi almost choked on air. He really had to get over the fact that Jimin seemed to know no bashfulness when it came to sex.

"Done." The first guy... had his name been Togu? No, that was the other one... tossed the boat carelessly into the water, holding it with a rope.

When Yoongi took a bit too long while climbing over the railing of the boat they were on to get into the one that was floating in the water underneath, one of the guys carelessly pushed him. Although Yoongi did fall into the boat and not into the water, his heart pretty much stopped in his chest.

Jimin, who already was in the boat, looked pretty damn ready to kill, but Yoongi quickly grabbed his hand, soothingly whispering that nothing had happened. The guys seemed to want them out of their boat as soon as possible.

They threw some paddles at them and Yoongi had to do his best not to yell at them. Yeah okay, he got that they didn't like to be here, but no need to be that rude.

"Let's just go." He whispered into Jimin's direction, who was glaring at the two sailors.

"Can I just say that I fucking hate humans?"

"No you don't. You like me."

"You're an exception."

Yoongi noticed how he hardly felt any anxiety even though he certainly couldn't see the ground of the water underneath him and he was on a boat that looked like it could deflate any second. Jimin grabbed the paddles and started moving the boat. Yoongi watched as his muscles strained underneath the white t-shirt he was wearing. As delicate as Jimin's face was, his body was anything but. Yoongi sat down, a bit unsteady on his feet now that the boat underneath him was moving.

They were about halfway to the island when Yoongi heard the motor of the boat behind them spring to life again. He turned around just to watch the two sailors who were supposed to be waiting for them, drive off.

"These assholes..." He could hear Jimin whisper behind him and he felt the boat shake as Jimin got up. "I'm gonna kill them."

Before Jimin could just jump into the water and leave Yoongi on his own, Yoongi grabbed his leg. "Don't you dare. You're not gonna leave me here and go after them."

"I can drop you off on the island and..." Jimin began but Yoongi shook his head.

"No. What was the deal?"

Jimin pressed his lips into a thin line, before repeating the words Yoongi had drilled into him in the past with a flat tone. "I won't kill any more humans nor harm them unless I'm in immediate danger and even then I am just allowed to take precautions to protect myself."

"Good. Now sit. You're making me anxious." Yoongi pulled Jimin back into a sitting position

"I don't get it. Why did they leave?" Yoongi muttered, watching as the boat got smaller in the distance.

"Because they're fucking cowards. That's why." Jimin hissed under his breath, before he grabbed the paddles and continued moving them towards the island. "They probably assume we're gonna die anyways so why risk staying."

"And you're sure we're not gonna die with how cursed this island is?" Yoongi asked, half-jokingly half serious.

Jimin stopped moving his arms and simply looked at Yoongi for a couple of seconds. "It's... did you even listen to me before? I'm the reason this island is supposedly cursed. Those who died here did at my hand."

He could tell that the information wasn't sitting all that well with Yoongi, but he picked up the speed anyways.

"That's... kind of creepy."

Jimin gave him a short awkward smile. "Sorry."

"I mean at least I can assume that I won't be added to that list." Yoongi muttered, feeling a bit sick to his stomach.

Jimin looked up at him with wide eyes. "What the hell? Of course not."

Forcing himself to stop thinking about stuff that was in the past Yoongi looked up again. "I know. Sorry. It's just a bit weird hearing stuff like that. I think my head just doesn't really grasp that you actually killed before. I keep having these moments of realization. And we're on the water. My anxiety is really running high to begin with."

Jimin sighed. "If it makes you feel better... when I was here I mostly just killed to keep humans off this area. I needed a place I could rest in. I didn't go around killing just anyone... for the most part."

They reached the coast and Jimin didn't even bother keeping his pants and shoes dry and stepped into the shallow water to pull the boat on land in such a casual manner that Yoongi couldn't help but wonder whether he had done it before.

Yoongi kept sitting until they were properly grounded. He climbed out before turning around, looking at the ocean. No boat in sight. "How are we going to get away from here?"

"Don't worry about it." Jimin reassured, grabbing the inflatable boat like it weighted absolutely nothing and carrying it on land. Yoongi watched silently, wondering how strong Jimin actually was. There certainly was more power in his body than it would seem. "I'll get us out of here once I've properly shown you the island."

He filled it with some round stones to make sure it wouldn't end up blown away before turning around to Yoongi. "Let's explore a little, shall we?"
