Chapter 53

„Come on, Yoongi, just jump. It's not that deep." Jimin exclaimed, watching Yoongi cling onto the metal of the fence.

"That's easy for you to say. I'm an old man. I might break something." Yoongi shot back, staring at the one-meter drop.

"I'm older than you. A couple of centuries even, and my bones seem to be just fine."

"Shut up, Jimin. I swear I'll hit you." Yoongi warned, but that wasn't all that threatening with how he was gripping the fence just a bit too tightly.

"You'll have to come down first." Jimin stated, crossing his arms and sighing. Yoongi was cute and all, but Jimin was kind of nervous about swimming in the pool and wanted to get this over with and Yoongi was using every way possible to stall time.

"Come on. Lift that leg over the fence and then climb down. It's not that hard." Jimin said very slowly.

Yoongi whined, before doing what he was told, although shaking so much that even Jimin grew anxious that he might slip. When he finally had both his legs save on the pool's side of the fence Jimin realized that he had been holding his breath.

Relieve washed over him when Yoongi finally climbed down the last stretch and he grabbed his hand. "I swear I'll lift you over when we leave again." Jimin stated before pulling Yoongi towards the pool.

Not even giving it a thought he slipped out of his clothes – all of them – and dove into the pool. Yoongi watched him come back to the surface and shake his hair before grinning widely at him.

"You want to start in the shallow area, right?" He asked, swimming towards the entry of the swimming pool.

Yoongi could feel his heart pick up its pace in his chest. "Yeah." He didn't sound very sure.

Was this really a good idea? He did trust Jimin, but he'd just found out about Jimin being someone that drowned people for the fun of it, and now here they were at a pool in the middle of the night and Yoongi was supposed to swim. It would be the perfect crime scene.

Not the best idea, right? Despite his worries Yoongi did shrug his jacket off and pulled his t-shirt over his head. He could feel Jimin's eyes on him, silently waiting for him to get into the water. When had Yoongi last felt this nervous about Jimin's presence? The boy had never really given him a reason to be scared of him, so why was he feeling at edge?

He pulled his jeans off too, revealing swimming shorts. Jimin had reached the entirely shallow area. For a couple of seconds Yoongi just looked at him. Jimin was beautiful. His upper body was lit in the moonlight that also reflected in the inky water of the pool.

There was something inhumanly beautiful about him. But just by the way he moved in the water, making almost no sounds, he also had something predatory to him.

Astonishing but dangerous.

But Yoongi trusted that boy. Maybe more than he did himself. Very slowly he walked over to the stairs leading into the dark pool. His heartbeat sped up again. He forced himself to step forward anyways. The water couldn't do anything. Jimin was here looking out for him. He'd protect him if anything happened. Very slowly he took step by step until the water reached his waist. Jimin was standing there right in front of him, smiling warmly.

So far everything had gone well. No flashbacks. No emotions that forced themselves into daylight again. Jimin offered his hand to Yoongi, who hesitantly took it.

"Are you going to stay in your human form?"

Jimin shook his head. "Not if we're going into the deeper parts. But out here it's more convenient."

"Okay." Maybe not in a sense that he was okay with going into the deeper parts. Rather that he was okay with Jimin changing. Actually he kind of wanted to see that again. He hadn't shown him ever since that night he'd told Yoongi about being a mermaid, when they were on that small dock.

"How are you feeling? You look a bit anxious." Jimin stated, reaching his hand out and brushing his thumb over Yoongi's cheek. The boy sighed, closing his eyes and trying to focus mainly on the feeling of Jimin's hand.

"I am. I'm a nervous wreck right now." Yoongi laughed, taking a step forward and hugging Jimin, who carefully put his hands on Yoongi's back too. "Sorry, I need that right now."

"It's okay." Jimin chuckled, patting down on Yoongi's shoulders before pecking his collarbones. Yoongi realized that they were almost naked. The only barrier between their dicks right now was Yoongi's shorts.

He pulled away quickly, feeling heat pool in his cheeks. God, why was he still so embarrassed about this. Jimin and him had been dating for such a long time and they had even seen each other naked. He shouldn't feel this embarrassed over this.

"You okay?" Jimin asked warmly, reaching his hand out for Yoongi again.

The boy groaned. "Not really." He admitted. "But let's do this..."

He forced himself to step forward, slowly inching towards the deeper part of the pool. Jimin moved with him, holding his hands carefully like he might break any second. When the water reached both of their chests a certain feeling of dread was starting to grow within Yoongi again. He felt like the floor was just going to disappear any second and he would slip underwater and never come back to the surface again.

"Jimin?"

"Hm?" His tone was soft as he moved a bit closer to Yoongi again. "What is it?"

Yoongi took a deep breath, gripping onto Jimin's hands. "I'm scared."

Jimin pushed his lower lip out slightly, moving even closer and placing his hands on Yoongi's waist, soothingly running over it. "Don't be. I'm here with you. I'll protect you, okay?" Jimin leant forward, brushing his lips against Yoongi's before pecking his cheek.

Yoongi forced himself to take a deep breath even though he felt like his lungs were being restricted by all the water around him.

"I'll go for an easier form now, okay?" Jimin asked, still caressing Yoongi's side.

"Yeah." Yoongi did sound a bit choked up but at least he managed to answer.

Jimin took a step back before slowly moving a bit deeper into the water. After a few seconds he swam up to Yoongi again, this time without using his hands to move. He simply slid through the water in soft, elegant motions before putting his hands on Yoongi's shoulders to stabilize himself without moving in place.

"Do you trust me?" Jimin asked intently. By the way he was looking at him, Yoongi could tell that Jimin would accept a no. Might end up a bit hurt, but would accept it. Yoongi didn't have to think about it.

"I do."

A warm smile spread over Jimin's lips. "Would you trust me to take you there?" He nodded into the direction of the deep area. The one where Yoongi would have no stable ground underneath his feet anymore.

He swallowed hard, staring at the black water. Yeah, he did trust Jimin, but he felt his fear rising in his chest. He really wasn't sure whether he could do it.

"I trust you... but I'm not sure if I'm..." He didn't know what to say.

"Hey, it's okay." Jimin quickly reassured. Yoongi could feel his tail brush against his leg. It felt weird, but for some reason it was oddly calming to see Jimin in this form again.

"I want to... It's just..." Yoongi closed his eyes. He felt the water all around his body. The idea of losing the ground under his feet really scared the shit out of him.

"It's okay." Jimin hushed, hugging him, his tail slowly wrapping around Yoongi's legs like a snake. And again, for some reason it didn't feel threatening.

Yoongi noticed something. "What about your scales? Didn't you say something about them being sharp last time?"

Jimin chuckled warmly. "I changed into a child friendly version, I guess? Because I don't want to accidentally hurt you." The boy pulled out of the hug, but left his tail where it was loosely resting around Yoongi.

"But hey, we're making progress." Jimin reached his hand out and drew a line where the water stopped on Yoongi's chest. "That's more than last time." There was no way Yoongi could have described the warmth that surged through his body at the way Jimin smiled at him.

His mouth curling around the corners, his eyes almost disappearing.

Yoongi made a decision. "Hey... could you let me go for second?"

Jimin did as asked from him, slowly detangling his tail from Yoongi and moving about a meter away. It took Yoongi a couple of seconds to mentally prepare himself. He took a deep breath and pushed himself forward into the direction of the deeper area, diving headfirst into the cold water.

For a second he felt lost and disoriented. He hadn't been underwater since before everything with his mother happened and now that he was, he could feel his body panicking just like it had when he had been a child or that day Jimin had pulled him out of the water.

He probably would have started kicking around, trying to get back to the surface, if it hadn't been for the warm body slipping right underneath him. Jimin wrapped his arms around Yoongi's upper body and within milliseconds and one powerful flick of his tail they were back on the surface. Yoongi gasped for air, feeling relieve wash over him.

He could hear Jimin whine underneath him. Or rather above him. Yoongi's head was resting on his chest, while Jimin was almost lying on the water surface, just making the smallest motions with his tail to keep them afloat. "Give me a heads up at least." Jimin complained, reaching his hand out and running it over Yoongi's wet bangs.

When Yoongi looked up his eyes met Jimin's. It was ridiculous how fond and happy the siren looked.

Yoongi sighed, dropping his head down on Jimin's chest again. "That was nerve wrecking."

"Yeah, for me too." Jimin wasn't lying. Yoongi could feel his heart racing against his cheek.

"Why for you?" He asked, looking up again.

"Because if you panic and breathe in that's dangerous even if you are underwater for only a couple of seconds. And I reaaaally don't want anything to happen to you, as unbelievable as it may sound. Gotta save my own ass, right?" He joked before pulling Yoongi up a bit and pecking the crown of his head.

"Let me get you back into the shallow area." Yoongi glanced around, realizing they were in the middle of the deep part of the pool. And it was surprisingly non scary. At least as long as Jimin had his hands wrapped around him.

Jimin swam towards the other end again, especially slow to make sure no water would splash onto Yoongi's face. When they reached a part where Yoongi could properly stand again, Jimin slowly let his tail sink under water again, still holding Yoongi until he'd grounded himself properly.

"Thanks."

"No problem. How do you feel? How was it?"

Yoongi pressed his lips into a thin line. It was hard to say. At one hand he'd been really scared, but it had been a lot less scary than he thought it was going to be. Most of his fears disappeared the second he felt Jimin's body right next to his. "As I said before... nerve wrecking... but I feel like I might actually be able to get used to swimming again."

Jimin smiled brightly, pulling Yoongi into a tight hug. "I'm really glad to hear that."

Yoongi smiled too, burying his face in Jimin's shoulder. Being around the boy put him at ease, to the point where he felt like he could beat his biggest fears.

"Jimin?"

"Yeah?" The boy moved a bit closer again, probably to keep his balance up, after all he couldn't just stand on the floor like Yoongi did.

"You... I kind of want to see you entirely as yourself again. Not the child friendly version." Yoongi chuckled when Jimin's lips twitched amusedly.

"You really want that? But I won't be able to hug you anymore." Jimin whined, reaching his hand out for Yoongi and pushing his chest against his.

"You just have to be careful, right?" The human asked, carefully trailing his hands down Jimin's waist. The siren's skin was incredibly soft.

"I don't know. One accidental hasty movement and I might hurt you." Jimin muttered, slowly pushing away from Yoongi. "But I can turn at least."

Yoongi watched in awe as the change happened. He didn't really see what happened under water, but Jimin's features changed a bit too. Not much. His jaw just got a bit sharper, his eyes turned a bit more cat like, his lips curled upwards in a provokingly seductive way.

It was very clear that everything about him was made to hunt. To seduce his pray, before biting down on it. Again there was such a dangerous air around Jimin.

But the smile he sent him seemed to wipe out the whole dangerous part. It was warm, playful, as he slowly slid towards Yoongi again, making even less noise than he had before. Very carefully he placed his hands on Yoongi's chest – Yoongi could feel sharp nails digging into his flesh but Jimin didn't apply any pressure so it didn't hurt – before pecking his lips and withdrawing back into the water.

"What do you think?" He sounded almost a bit nervous.

Yoongi laughed. "What am I supposed to answer to that? I mean, you're beautiful, but you've also been that before, and it's kind of scary, but not really. The best way to describe how I feel about it would be a good type of dangerous?"

Jimin giggled warmly, moving towards Yoongi again, hugging him tightly, very careful not to brush him with his tail. "I'm glad to hear that... so we might go swimming with each other more frequently now?"

"I'll... consider it." For now, he admittedly had had enough water for more than a week if not a month.

"That's good enough." Jimin kissed him again, steadying himself by holding onto Yoongi's shoulders. "I'm so happy I found you..." His voice was almost a whisper. "I love you."

A warm smile spread over Yoongi's face as he placed his hands on Jimin's cheeks, leaning down to capture his lips again. "I love you too."
