Chapter 3
●●●
More days passed. Jimin wasn't counting. He used to, but once you reach a certain number it just stops making much of a difference. There were events that he could give numbers to. It had been 18023 days since he started counting, when he separated from his parents. Another 687 days later his brother had disappeared into nothing. Either no longer caring about Jimin or because he got caught by someone and killed.
But all of that was long ago. More than double that amount had passed before he stopped counting and since then even more time had passed.
And even though all concept of time had been lost, he still could tell the way everything changed. Cities changed. The water changed. Even the ships on the water had changed. They were a lot less beautiful than the ones Jimin used to love watching back then.
Thanks to that his interests had changed as well. He had taken a certain liking towards humans. The way they changed. Everything about them changed. The way the talked, acted and dressed. Even the buildings they lived in changed, although just like with the ships he wasn't all too fond of that part.
His thoughts were disrupted when suddenly there were voices startling both him and the boy.
This was the first time someone else had entered this part of the beach this late at night, especially while being this loud. Curious of what was going to happen he watched the way the boy tensed up, before quickly getting up, gathering his things ready to leave, but they already made their way over to him.
They were walking really weirdly, almost tumbling over their own feet. He could tell that they were discussing something. At least the boy was gesturing with his arms, but they were too far away from Jimin for him to actually grasp whatever they were saying.
Laughter could be heard, but it wasn't the good type. It was the type Jimin had heard before. Many times, before he became one of the reasons for the laughter to die off.
They were drunk. He was certain of that. At least that was something he could tell for sure.
The tone of the conversation changed one again. There was yelling mixed in there and once again laughing. And then there was a splashing noise and the boy no longer was there.
