It's been almost two weeks since that day. the day he saw the merman inside the waters. He had been scared to return at first but eventually he found the courage to go back and use the spot to relax. It felt nice to know that he was being heard, even if it wasn't a human that listened to him. So far this merman has not made him feel threatened. It would occasionally gift him things from the deep. when taehyung would come there there would be some colorful seashells waiting for him, sometimes even a piece of coral. It made him feel welcome, so he kept visiting. telling his stories like usual, but this time feeling less lonely.

The only thing that bothered him was the fact that the merman hadn't shown himself again. He hasn't seen his face again, not even an arm. The only thing he had seen a few times were his eyes in the darkness of the water. but that was it. Ever since Taehyung asked that question he hasn't swum to the surface again.

maybe he really said something wrong? was there something wrong with being a merman maybe? he didn't know, he didnt think about it too much. He just let it be.

So like every few days Taehyung was there again at the water. Sitting on top of the rock out of view from the shore, his 'own' spot to relax and get himself together.

"I saw my father today" he started talking, poking his finger into the holes of the rock with small puddles of water in them. "I was having lunch earlier and I saw him outside the window. He stood by his car just looking at me. I wasn't sure what to do, it's been so long since I last saw him in person." he sighed and swiped his wet finger over the dry parts to mindlessly make small drawings with the water as distraction. "I don't know why he felt the need to come stalk me again, I prefer not to see him at all, ugh" taehyung didn't like times like this, these were times he would feel the most lonely. When he had to let out his frustration about his own family. and especially now Jimin wasn't nearby to listen to him he would miss someone to talk to. Yes he can call him, and he did. But it's different to have someone on the phone than seeing them in person.

But this time was different...

Taehyung sighed, "why am i even saying all this. I'm probably just annoying you with my own problems.... Sorry, I should probably go" he said and was about to slide off the rocks into the water when he heard those water drops again behind him. He turned his head and gasped when the face he saw before rose from the water together with the most beautiful body he had ever seen. The man... Fish... Merman, held himself on the edge of the rock and had pushed himself up to taehyung's eye level, half his body out of the water. This man was strong, he had a well trained torso. And his face... He looked so pretty, handsome features were complimented by his wet coal black long hair that draped down over his back and some strands stuck to his face. The shimmering of scales on his back that faded when it reached his sides. And then his eyes... his magical eyes that looked like glass orbs it was like they enchant him.

Just... Beautiful .

"don't go... Talk to me some more " the merman said in an elegant low voice. He pulled his body out more showing a little more of his pale tail, everything about him looked drained of color, as if color did not exist in his body. He looked so different than the mermaids they had been told about. But right now he couldn't think straight, the merman got so close that taehyung could smell him , the salty ocean smell tingled his nose. But nothing thingled him more than the voice in his ear.

"don't be shy now... I don't bite... not you at least." The merman chuckled and bent his arms resting on them to keep his upper body out of the water while staring at the human with his pale blue-ish eyes.

"i-i..... i-...uh..." Taehyung couldn't speak, he felt like he was put under a spell. looking at the other made him feel so many different things. He felt attracted, curious, scared and amazed. He couldn't figure out what feeling he had to go with. because he knew damn well that this was not something normal or something he had expected to happen. "You're....."

"do i scare you?" the merman's smile faded, he looked... disappointed.

"no no!" Taehyung was glad to have his tongue back or else the other would probably have swum off again. and he finally could talk to him normally. This was a big achievement. as long it was safe, so far he didn't feel threatened. "well... you look just.. different"

"different?"

"yea... like... you're a merman but you look completely different than what we assumed your kind looked like." Taehyung examined the other again, this time it was easier because he was out of the water and the sun showed his real colors. not that there was much of it, his skin was almost white, there was a faint hint of a warm peachy color, his thick nails that surely wouldn't be just to look pretty. And his face, his black hair and glowing eyes, no colors again.. and his teeth... It reminded him of a piranha. Was he...

"I am no merman"

"wait-" taehyung scooted back a little. which didn't go unnoticed by the creature that silently judged the movement with a glance.

"I am what you call a siren," the Siren grinned, showing his teeth.

"a s-siren" taehyung stuttered out, yes he heard about them... they were not mermaids. These were said to be evil creatures, creatures that lured unknowing humans to them and killed them... ate them. "you.."

"I won't bite, I already told you, '' the siren said and moved closer.

"why?"

"why what?"

"why everything, you're... a siren"

"Because I like you, you're interesting. you amuse me" the siren said tapping his nails on the stone as if he was waiting for something. "i have no interest in harming you"

Taehyung felt a little more calm hearing that, but still... he was a siren, what if he got hungry?

"I promise" the siren sighed. Humans and their word 'i promise' it was like the magic word, and he hated using it.he hates promises, promises would only hurt more if they were broken, as if it was the magical seal for anger and chaos. but it seemed this human wont trust his words if he didnt say this.

"okay... i believe you" taehyung said but he still felt cautious. "How can you speak my language?"

"i can speak anything you want me to, my kind hase to adapt to their prey in order to lure them in"

"So I am your prey," Taehyung said with an attitude. raising his brow at the other. "you just said-"

"I'm trying to explain something. but yes, you are my prey" the siren grinned and crawled closer, more and more of his tail getting onto the dry. the human yelped in shock and quickly scooted away. The siren just chuckled. "a different kind of prey, you're no food to me"

"then what am i?"

"you're my interest, so please. talk to me some more"

"about what?'' Taehyung really had a brain fog right now. All he could think about was that there was a REAL LIVING siren in front of him. and the creature acted as if it wasn't such a big deal.

"i don't know, about your day, like you always talk about"

"i.. i dont have much to say today" taehyung sighed and then frowned. "but wait a minute. we aren't don\e talking about you, i need more explanation."

"I'm a siren, what else is there to say for me?"

"Do you have a name?"

"Jungkook, that's my name" The siren replied and moved some of the wet strands that poked his eye behind his ear.

"did you just make that up or-"

"In our siren pronunciation would be this'"Jungkook said and an unreal sound escaped his lips. they were some sort of tones, they sounded like words but at the same time it didn't. It felt magical to hear.

"That's so cool," Taehyung muttered to himself. "oh.. i am Taehyung, Kim Taehyung"

"Taehyung hmm.." Jungkook said, and the way his name rolled off his tongue sent butterflies through Taehyung's stomach. "sound like a name i would hear in the deep"

"there are more of you?"

"Of course, we are with many '' Jungkook chuckled. "We just don't show ourselves. We just take our prey and leave. we do not bother with the land kind.

"But you are talking with me? you're showing yourself to me"

"That's because I am bored, and because you came into my lair and disturbed my sleep a lot of times. You kind of gave me no choice but to accept your presence."

Taehyung shivered, if he had known he was sharing this place with a siren earlier he probably would have never come here again.

"But you were cute, I had no interest in hurting you. it was quite entertaining to listen to your stories" Jungkook kept talking.

"really?"

"Yes, it can get quite lonely here. there aren't a lot of us in these waters, there isn't much to eat."

"oh, so what do you eat?"

"Oh I do eat humans, but I also just eat anything that swims within my reach," Jungkook said as if it was nothing. He even smiled with it. "were not living only on humans, humans usually don't come that far into the ocean. we can live off fish too"

"so... why are you here if you're bored?" Taehyung asked. and at that question jungkook seemed to fall silent. His eyes looked away as he thought but then gave no answer. "did you get lost or-"

"We sea monsters do not get lost, '' Jungkook said and looked offended. "i simply can't swim such distance in my current condition"

"Did you get hurt?" Taehyung asked. Jungkook frowned, clearly annoyed to talk about this. but he complied and pulled himself completely out of the water, sitting on the rocks and lifting his pale colourless tail out of the water. And there it was, Along his tail was a long wound, it looked...Recent.

"you humans put rubbish everywhere in our home. These boats disrupt our peace. this is from a lost harpoon, i got entangled and it tore open my tail. but it's healing." Jungkook then got back in the water and avoided eye contact.

"I'm sorry.." Taehyung genuinely felt bad and guilty that his kind was causing this damage. it wasn't just to Jungkook, it was all creatures. "when you're healed, will you leave?"

"i planned to leave this waters yes"

"and now?" Taehyung caught on to the 'planned'.

"I have no plans to leave yet. I enjoy your presence. so I was gonna stay a little longer." Jungkook said and tilted his head.

Taehyung had no words. The thought of being friendly like this with an actual Siren was making him feel things. And on top of that he had interest in him?????

"Can I ask you something?" Taehyung looked at the other.

"Ask away hmm" Jungkook grinned and walked with his fingers closer to Taehyung's hand without the other noticing because he was thinking. Until his nails touched the human's skin and he pulled his hand back.

"a-ah sorry, it just startled me" the human apologised. "But what I wanted to ask is, why did you leave when I asked if you were a merman?"

"you would be afraid of me"

Taehyung didn't expect such an honest answer. And it really warmed his heart a little. The siren being worried that he was going to be scared of him.

"Well you're kind, their reputation isn't really positive..."

"I don't want you to be scared of me," Jungkook said. "just a little bit" he grinned. And back he was, his smile never left for long. As if he was covering something up.

"Right now I'm not scared of you. You look actually quite nice, compared to the stories."

"stories and tales, real or not , I can be whatever you want me to be."

"Can you turn into a fish?"

"I am a siren, not a real fish..."

"right...'' Taehyung felt stupid to ask that. He thought it was funny to joke about but the siren didn't seem to pick up on his sarcasm.

"You should go home," Jungkook said.

"what, why?" The human didn't want to leave. He was actually enjoying his time here talking with the creature. He wanted to know more about Jungkook.

"It's already dark outside. It can be dangerous"

"how do you know that?"

"I've seen things. Ive been places. I know about your world"

"Next time you have to tell me about that because. This really blows my mind right now." Taehyung said and stood up. Jungkook was right, he should head back. Such an empty spot as the beach was surely interesting for thieves to steal cars and other unattended items.

"want me to bring you there?"

"i-i can swim myself"

"okay then." Jungkook slipped back into the water. "see you another time then"

"bye" Taehyung waved goodbye to the Siren and watched him fade into the deep before he swam back to the shore himself. Grabbing his stuff from the secret hole and driving home safely. He can't wait to tell Jimin about this tomorrow.
